Wipers act strangely - won't turn off
yes, but, my experience of my front wipers coming on one morning and not turning off was solved by pulling the fuse for the rear unit. a very strange electrical gremlin, but thats what happened. i pulled the front fuse to stop them as they were going to wreck themselves dragging on the glass otherwise. then when i put it back in , off they went again. i chanced pulling the rear one (i may have read someone here having the same issue already) and it stopped the constant front wiper movement but i could still use them normally. i left it like that for 2 yrs until i traded it in.

Wipers act strangely - won't turn off
okay, the fuse pulling was what cured mine as it was internal corrosion in the rear unit causing a short that made the front ones come on and stay on. i didnt have time to write that out at the time last night. if the relay is okay, then it may be just be years of gack built up in the steering stalk switch. get a can of contact cleaner and go to town on the stalk switches as a first easy try out. then if no joy open it up and look for damage. if all okay with the switch contacts then its a shorted out wire somewhere along the way

Running discussion - experiences, tips, equipment, motivation, etc
i read your post about the sweating and found it very interesting... in my younger fitter martial arts days i would break a sweat but nothing like the rivers that flow out of me these days. and its not just when running, i mean its like my body says "oh your doing a thing, we better keep you cool". doing stuff isnt even a smidge challenging physically, and yet im gettin sweaty. my diet is quite low in salt overall. i tend to not use much of it when when cooking, barely any tbh. its partially down to that idea that too much salt is bad for your heart and theres a not great heart history on my mothers side, so ive always been aware of my intake and cut it down as much as i could.. so, yeah, my sodium levels may actually be low thus the sweating issue. may have to look at that 🤔

AnnoyingPentium's Return Dive into Swimming... and other 'elf stuff
UL (University of Limerick) built a 50m pool as part of a massive sport development complex probably 20yrs ago now (writing that down makes me feel old, i was in school when it was being built). the story put out afterwards was that the site crew "forgot to allow for the thickness of the tiles and adhesive when setting out the concrete shuttering" as it was discovered that it fell approx 30mm short of the competition tolerance... it was absolutely done on purpose as it would have made it only the second full Olympic size race pool in Ireland and so there would have been an expectation of holding competitions there which wasnt part of the university plan - they just wanted to be able to draw in elite level training activities (the sports campus is huge) that they could control and the prestige of having the pool in their prospectus...

AnnoyingPentium's Return Dive into Swimming... and other 'elf stuff
cool, thats a significant difference then as most pools over here are only 25m in LA pools, a "long" private pool (gym/hotel etc) are typically only 18 to 20) so i have 0 experience of a proper 50m pool (even a 49.8m one )

meh, i dont think the posts needed to be removed, i wasnt taking any offence by it, but... i thought everyone knew if you posted at the weekend you have a much lower chance of a response than mid week - we are all either doing family stuff or working on our own cars then. so, (i had a look) if you ask a question on a saturday, then ask again on Sunday. follow that by posting in a different thread on Monday get a response and reply on Tuesday i dont see that as begging for help... esp when it then takes 2 weeks to come back and finish moaning about getting no help.. edit.. i didnt realise there was clearly other posts today i didnt see...

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
So.... today is a Sunday.. it is night time. i should be drinking.. instead i went for a run, as swmbo finally admitted on Thursday night that shes sick of waking up at 615am with me and then only dozing until its time to get up, and being tired enough as it is with the migraine etc etc... I had to take that on board and have to accommodate her needs too, so... im back to nights. ooooooh it felt weird. there was more people around and yet it felt as quiet as it does in the mornings. that will change as the evenings stretch out and the clocks change, but for now it is as it is. the running though.. well, thats odd too, but not unexpected. I ran faster! i set off feeling lighter than when im only up 15mins, legs didnt feel like they were still under the duvet gwtting some extra REM sleep weighing me down. so much so after 2k i could feel the cold damp air starting to hurt my airway from sucking harder at the faster rate. mornings this wasnt happening as the lungs were able but legs were not. did my 8k route, and by luck decided to check the distance covered at a "waypoint" marker i use - the turning point on the 6k route, return leg of the 8k - to see how close it actually adds on to do the 8k. it should be about the 5k and it is 4.8km, yeah pretty bang on. but i notice i was only in my 23rd minute... so i pushed a bit and cracked the 25min wall for 5k! i then manged to keep that going and checked again after a few mins... keep it going, keep it going... BAM! sub 30mins for 6k! and finally - 8k in just over 40mins. absolutely nothing award winning about it, but i am feckin buzzed after it. setting a couple of 3rd fastest whatevers and 3 new segment PRs really helped it too probably wont sleep until 2am now though 🙄

or perhaps he meant that @MicMac is generally very good at helping out in the mk2 section but didnt on this occassion. because he was itherwise busy? and may have missed the original post.. it happens on a forum. i would like to point out it took 2 weeks to come back and moan about noone helping, after a couple of important questions to aid digital diagnostics were asked and a suggestion made on where to start looking. anyway, c'est la vie as @J.R. might say these frenchy days.. helped offered, and either ignored or whatever, meh, it wont keep me awake tonight (many other things might though...)

Given up: Water in drivers footwell
good morning @Deathbymilk there numerous places to check for water getting in - sunroof drains - there are 4, the front 2 running down each A pillar. run a length of thin wire down each of them the whole way to the ground to make sure they are clear. behind wheel arch liners - where the windscreen scuttle drains out - fills up with crud and blocks the outflow point. the space then fills fills up with water until it reaches the level of the bonnet release cable grommet in the fire wall and it runs on through to the cabin. door membranes - really common. if any work has been done on a door lock, speaker, window regulator etc (which at the age of even the youngest mk1 is a 90% likelihood, its a miracle if there hasnt been!) then the plastic membrane has been removed for access. Then theres a good chance it was replaced and a small gap in the sealant lets an astounding amount of water in. look for signs of water at the bottom of the door card where it meets the metal frame. door seals - if a door has shifted it might not be making full contact. rub some chalk along the seal, close the door and pour water down from the top of the door, it will wash off the chalk anywhere its getting through.

Mac's Running Diary - edit jan '21 cycling too - edit jan 23 back @ circuit training,
ive been running away since the last update, 6k, 8k... times are all hovering around 31-32mins on the 6k and 42-43 on the 8k. sleep hasnt been brilliant. waking up, and being restless while getting into bed... back to work today! ick. but i got my last 6k of January in this morning, after spending an hour during the night in Jr's room on the floor.. and the reason i pushed myself to get out... i needed the 6 to finish the 100k challenge... quite happy with it

he was briefed before we started each up hill tow that once he was moving himself again it was really important that the rope didnt touch the ground and he absolutely could not try to pass me out with the rope on and why... hes a clever little sod so he understands that "if dad is saying this is possibly dangerous and important to listen, then it really must be"

id be bringing it back to your dealer for a check then, as it clearly has something wrong, but will be under warranty still.

Front passenger door handle
well lets try and solve it.... wgen it isnt unlocking, does it sound like the mechanism is getting power and just not operating properly, or is it just dead? the most likely failure point if its not getting power is the where the loom passes through the A pillar into the door
