No remap
Plenty online about the ECU being locked and that is that. Youtube vids as well. If the Tuners / Remppers are not managing to get past that thn you are were you are until they say then can and actually can. I assume you are not letting anyone at your car to try developing a remap. The Bluespark Tuning box was OK on Mk2 Fabia vRS 1.4 tsi Twincharger CTHE engines from 2012 while it took REVO / APR and others a couple of years to offer a Stage1 & 2 map. APR dealers were opening ECU,s and still not managing to do anything. The BlueSpark box was better on the 1.4 TSI with the plug gap they recommended. Then obviously on Super Unleaded. So E5 & not E10.

What to replace after 260k km / 11 years? (Long term maintenance list)
Vacuum and wash with detergent / antibacterial fluid the pollen filter area should be the minimum. Air-con Cleaner Spray / Air-con bomb does the job. Google will get you to vids or guides on cleaning drains. Be careful if blowing through with an airline. Lubing sunroof runners etc again google. Search engines.

Today listening about the VW Strike in Germany i think the expert said VW make 1% profit on vehicles while Skoda make 9%. Surely i misheard.

- Still here
Worth referring to the 'multitronic' since that is what the VW Group did. (Then the s-tronic which is a DSG or not a DSG. Audi like being different..) VW Group Tiptronics, Roomster, Porsche as well, then PDK. !- FIRST CAR - ADVICE NEEDED
Go look at them. Maybe a Independent Trader with various cars and an honest person that like repeat customers might be worth talking to. A Salesperson with Skoda of all kinds might point you towards certain / features but they are trying to sell all their stock. or cars they have coming in. Hardly likely to give you any stories to put you off a Skoda. Unless about to get sacked or moving on to pastures new very soon.- the truth about electric cars
Absolutely they do not. As we know and have discussed from day one of the 'Truth of Electric Vehicles'. But there are more and more choices of charging. Some just adapt to suit. If it does not suit, then just do not do it. If eating and drinking at Fast Food places, or Motorway Services type places is not your thing then do not do it. I am often amazed at those worrying about the tariff to charge at some locations but seem to have no issue maybe spending £7.50 or more for a hot drink and a pastry etc. (Maybe 10 kWh worth of money that could get you 40 miles more and to a supermarket / charger where you can buy cheaper stuff, like 'Yellow label reduced' stuff. Like a tight person like me does. My 100 gram jars of own brand coffee at home is 99 pence, i do not pay £3.50 for a coffee out and about. if my passengers wants to buy me one then fine. They are never asked to pay for charging / fueling the car.) BP Pulse chargers at some locations means when charging you get discounts on a drink and something to eat. The thing is you can flash your card say you are charging and still get that discount even if there with an ICE vehicle filling up or not filling up.- North Coast 500 in EV Vids. Or any information on chargers if you have any please.
Just to try i use the CPS RFID card first. I have 2. £12 each. Most often an issue, no start or starts and cuts out. I have to reset the Charger by hitting the emergency button to release the charger head. Now i will just use the ElectroVerse card first. I have now had 2 charges using it where no money has been taken and no trace of having charged other than on my Car / Phone App. This was at CPS administered chargers. I also have the card from Motability that is able to start CPS chargers. In Theory that is, chargers have started and just cut out using that. I see people often now calling CPS / SWARCO in Broughty Ferry on the Glasgow phone code number to get chargers started, then trying to get through to stop them. I advise them to hit emergency stop, but stay and take the 20 seconds to restart it, even though the BP Pulse chargers say might take 10 minutes. Big Scotland issue, pathetic Mobile reception at some chargers not only in the Highlands, it can be right at Edinburgh Airport. Right beside main routes like the A90 & Forfar, a hub only 100 yards away from the Trunk Route. You can need to move about to get reception. Hence pretty crap SIM Card / Mobile communications between SWARCO / CPS, even when only 15 miles away as the crow flies.- the truth about electric cars
Almost half way down Scotland as a starting place , but we get the idea.- Will it start?
@sussamb Hoorah! So the far south of the UK mainland. But then the same might apply in the furthest north of the British mainland or even the northern isles.- DSG boxes on 1.0 and 1.5 engines?
35 bhp worth of difference. Near 1/3 rd greater in the 4 cylinder 1.5 TSI ACT than the 3 cylinder 1.0TSI. But both do 70 mph 4 up with luggage.- 2.0 TDI EVO or 1.5eTSI EVO 2
Maybe not much in it as far as economy / efficiency but i do not know the price of petrol or diesel where you are. Best drive them and see what you think. Both 7 speed DSG,s but different as far as a Twin Dry Clutch with the 1.5 TSI Mild Hybrid & a wet clutch with the TDI. That might make no difference. Complexity of the Mild Hybrid or then the DPF / SCR with the TDI.- Will it start?
@carefree just for clarity about where your various cars over the years sit for however long in what ever weather, where are you in the UK? Is it possibly in the milder southern part of the UK? I never have battery issues and have not had for 5 decades and hundreds of old cars and new cars, other than with a Volvo S60 & 4x4 automatics that really need big batteries to start and require a boost if sat awhile, and once with a brand new Hyundai i30 that could not sit unused for a week. Every vehicle i have had is an automatic, and i have traded in cars and repaired them since i was at school. I have assisted plenty jump starting or boosting cars over the years with all sorts of vehicles,- the truth about electric cars
I think so to. Because i am interested in cars. He gets lots of gifts from lots of people, a few billion from Mummy and Daddy and the people of the UK. Never stopped his mooching. Good that they recognise their heritage in using Audi,s, and back to the Commonwealth and the Raj with JLR.- Will it start?
'Should not'. Exactly, but plenty modern batteries do struggle after 3 months out of use. Or 2-3 weeks at a airport long stay car park. Maybe because of their age. But not always. Just a fact that you see at Dealerships when they need a Boost, as at auctions where a car might be only a few days sitting from coming off a transporter. RAC / AA ? Greenflag and other responders out jumping cars, changing batteries just because someone somewhere was that poor sod with 'No experience of cars whatsoever'. They just imagined it, internet myth.- the truth about electric cars
Germany has a crisis and struggles to have enough energy as it is without having excess for producing synthetic fuels. Hence they let Hungary get away with so much as the gas comes through there for Austria & Germany.- the truth about electric cars
An Electric Rolls Royce is the ideal car along with many others is just right for allowing that they are charged the appropriate per mile tariff by some equation of length / weight to passengers carried. That might have Jaguar Land Rover think on, or maybe just those getting them. It is just money after all if they cost more to travel in. KC3 is such a mooch.- the truth about electric cars
Rolls Royce are the right people to get behind Synthetic Fuels. The division of Rolls Royce that is going to produce the Small Modular Nuclear Reactors that the public have to pay for can generate energy. Then they can use Green Hydrogen maybe to run the vehicles that gets the huge amount of waste transported that is not to be used to produce gas at the bio-digestors right at farms. Gas that actually goes to the gas supplies or to generate electricity. (Like happens in Perthshire and elsewhere, along with Solar and Wind generated Electricity and battery storage.) Obviously they can grow crops as they do now to produce ethanol, but instead for the Synthetic fuels. So go were there is plenty sun and water and wind generate electricity, grow crops or use waste from crops and then produce Synthetic fuels. Not that this will help the EU / Europe / UK with fuel security. Or help feed those starving around the world.- North Coast 500 in EV Vids. Or any information on chargers if you have any please.
Just how it is...A PITA sometimes. Should have got an ElectroVerse card, and a hat, maybe gloves or mits and wear more clothes in the North in winter...- Change the key battery!
Sorry no idea, i always make sure that i use the spare / 2nd key occasionally when there is a spare. The days of buying bargain cars and only one key is over for me.- 2007 skoda fabia .
- DSG boxes on 1.0 and 1.5 engines?
@Maxr They did the same as VW Group DSG,s. it was a EAT8, or some other Auto that PSA used were they not?. - New Skoda Elroq 2024
