  1. So today checking out my charging options when i get to Edinburgh and for a few days travel & then charging for return. To the Airport first to see if the Chargers are back on. Rapids 55 pence a kWh. If not Hermiston Park & Ride. 5 Rapids same price. CPS / Edinburgh City. Called BP Pulse about my Subscription & the pathetic performance of BP Pulse using card or phone, if my card does not work at the new charger at a BP Station outside the Airport, road to New Bridge call them. 69 pence a kWh. MGF @ BP filling station next to McD,s at Newbridge , 5 rapids, 79 pence a kWh. Out to Broxburn Lidl, 65 pence a kWh. Norton Hotel BP Pulse, 1 Rapid, 69 pence. Straiton Park & Ride, 1 Rapid. CPS. 55 pence. Ikea / Gridserve. 1 Rapid, 69 pence. Retail Park Evyve, 1 Rapid, 75 pence. Lidl Craigmiller, PodPoint 65 pence. There are others around if i am away from where i usually go but Edinburgh makes taking a ICE vehicle more sensible, especially if you have a Blue Badge. (Access & Parking, EV,s are no advantage.) There is no suitable 7 kW chargers i want to use and wait but i will use a 11 kW charger while waiting on a Rapid if needs must. The Mini Electric when showing 15% battery and 14 miles range takes in 28 kWh. When showing 95% battery (90 miles) yesterday and topping up to 100% (98 miles) it was 4 kWh of a charge it took. When i unplug and switch it on it will show 104 miles range. Heating down, Screen / AC off, 1 setting heated seat & away. It will do 3.5 - 3.7 mile a kWh for 35 miles, and get 3.1-3.3 miles a kWh once on the Motorway.
  2. @kodiaqsportline No Cylinders running only happens when the engine is stopped / off in your vehicles with the 1.4 or 1.5 TSI ACT in a Skoda. ................... As to Active Cylinder Technology / Cylinder on demand, that is the 2 or 4 cylinder going up and down, and it was first on the 12 and 8 cylinder engines on Bentleys. (There are VW Engines that do stop the engine while the car is still moving. & not just Mild Hybrid or PHEV,s) 2012. Vorsprung Durch Technik. 2013.
  3. @StonekeeperHe said he changes every 12-18 months. That is long before 3 years and a first MOT. Other than UK there are EU / European countries whee Skoda Warranties are 2 years.
  4. There is no disadvantage if you are changing oil @ 9,400 miles / 12 months or sooner. It is not Long Life Oil and no worse for that.
  5. I expect to get flamed for this and told how i contaminate the oil, but here goes. With difficult to read Dip Sticks, New oil usually, i put a little talcum powder, actually french chalk for doing puncture repairs on the clean wiped cross hatch area and then dip the oil. I mean just a few mm dusted on one side.
  6. Do you know for certain that the oil used was 5 w 30 FS III. VW504 00 / 507 00, and not in error VW508 00 / 509 00, 0w 20 fS IV. If mine even in Sweden i would be using VW502 00, 5w 40 FS which is for Fixed Oil Service Regimes and not Long Life oil.
  7. The manual are confusing with diagrams. There is the cross hatch are and the bottom of that is pretty low oil, the flat bit above is where you want it when there is the proper quantity in checked at Normal Operating temp. Top of Cross Hatch to flat bit. Do not run more than 0.5 litres low, and do not overfill.
  8. 'Coasting' and the Gears disengaged in no Accelerator, toe off the pedal. There is no engine braking when there is just D showing and not D7, D6. D5 etc. 1.5TSI ACT (COD Audi) have been on the go enough years now. The Active Cylinder on Demand / Cylinder on Demand is reliable enough after these years of them being in production and the Software sorted out after the 2018 mess getting the WLTP / RDE2 results.
  9. Leasing a car from Motability in the UK for 3 years with the current £71 a week PIP signed over is £11,000, without any Advance Payment. That is exempt from VED, no Insurance or Servicing to pay or even Adblue with a diesel. So £3,692 a year minimum. The PIP goes up with inflation, so that £71 a week increases. That is surely as cheap as renting a car gets. It could be from around a £15,000 RRP to over £35,000 and no Advance payments.
  10. @Skylx567 What does the Full Service History show as having been done?, because there is not much they do. Tuning a car or turning it into a Show Car as per your other post needs a bit more than having others do stuff if they are not going to be checking things.
  11. Terms need updating. It is a manual Parking Brake / emergency brake (Hand operated), or an e-Brake, Parking / Emergency brake, maybe FINGER operated, maybe with Autohold. At least Skoda still do the Manual / Hand / Parking brake on new Fabia, Scala & Kamiq. Still do rear drums even on the Fabia / Enyaq.
  12. ^^^ The Price of Tyres or that they come from Bridgestone, Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, Dunlop, Continental etc etc is no guarantee that they are good in the Wet, Cold / Ice, Snow or even dry roads. They turn out sh!te tyres as well which have a Summer Bias / ECO. Long lasting. fuel saving, lack of friction, so traction, so actual safety for you are yours.
  13. You should not need to tell a Technician, Mechanic or Fitter what to check. What service history have you and when was stuff done last? The OIl temperature can go up when the car used and over 100*oC and then cool down, which is how a coolant system works. The Coolant temp showing near 90*oC is an approxomate. ??? Was you car ever part of the Recall Action to have the coolant replaced? Pinned thread at the top of the Fabia Mk3 section.
  14. @Marciswelcome. Probably nothing to do with it, but maybe the car was recently driven through deep water. So look at the Air Filter, is it clean and dry? Water can get into engines in ways other than from cylinder head gasket failures. ? Then how long has the same oil been in the engine, and maybe at a garage / auction and lots of starting. or seldom starting but going no place and not getting the oil up to temperature.
  15. Was the car serviced and spark plugs changed, and air filter checked and the car running E5 / 99 Ron min superunleaded before the remap and checked then for no Logged Fault codes.? How many miles has the car done?
  16. Sorry, i just have what i screen grabbed at the time and posted in threads back then. Try google images and 'briskoda service sheets'. probably pdf stuff will show. someone maybe has that. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/472504-service-schedules

Welcome. Have you looked through the Octavia Project section? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/414150-magazine-featured-mk3-octavia-vrs-estate-390bhp
  18. Are you putting tyres on the 18" rims that are going to keep the Total Circumference / Diameter much the same or just a little more? If a little more then it will likely just have the speedo more accurate rather than over reading as much as it is.
  19. @MikeTheThinker What are you actually after? That was Main Dealer Fixed price @ Participating dealers on cars 3-10 years old from 2018 or 2019. Pre Skoda UK going to the new system. Skoda Main Dealers Service & Maintenance has never been comprehensive and the Workshop Check Sheet often did not have on it what Skoda UK had on webpages. The new All In Check List and the Skoda Approved Used Car Pre Sales Check has much more stuff on it now and someone posted the List Recently.
  20. If it is 95 ron petrol you run & there is 98 octane or higher available and now winter spec petrol maybe try a tank of the higher octane fuel and see if things are smoother.
  21. Do check the oil when really cold with an un started engine. Then you know there is oil, and enough to start and run the engine. As VW say for 1.2 44 kW engines, then do as with all others, do your Oil check again when at Normal Operating Temperature. Hot not Warm (That was a Skoda Translation error VW, Audi Seat said Hot in their owners manuals.) So after stopping a few minutes on the flat. then you get the oil level. (A few minutes is 4 or 5 not 15) Then you should not have the wrong level as many cars leave a PDI or Service from VW Group main Dealerships. They do an oil change and put in what ever and dip it when it idled a bit, and is warm, not after a road test. Too often cars leave dealerships with the incorrect quantity of oil. Point it out to them and they say they do hundreds even thousands of cars. Well that is why they should get it right, people trust them to do it right.
  22. Almost all Touch up kits or paints are OK. But you need to get Rust Inhibitor / Rust Converter on there now.
  23. Not relevant for PHEV,s, & it is Scotland and buying Used EV,s. But here just incase any help to those looking. *Rural EV,s, so postcode matters. Or buying Used with a Grant and getting a charger.* http://wepoweryourcar.com/blog-your-guide-to-scottish-ev-charger-grants
  24. You have the 3 year paint warranty, but if the panel has been repaired / repainted and not done as a warranty claim before now you have no claim. If it was a Warranty job already done then you have. One of several threads if you search paint peeling. Or Briskoda paint flaking. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/447732-paint-clear-coat-peeling-or-flaking-off
