Service and questions for new owner
@Blueallblueno9 Members are just trying to help as best we can. We are here all the time to confuse. ? So which of Scotland hopeless Motor Groups is supplying your car, and is it getting delivered to you or are you collecting it, and is it a nice simple TDI or TSI and not a PHEV? If Warranty work or TPI,s updates need doing you will need a Main Dealer or Authorised repairer. If you get the car soon it is not needing a visit to a Main Dealer until 2025. If even then. Have them check bodywork when ever at a main dealer for the paint and corrosion warranty. & put that inspection on the system. If it needs and Oil & filter change, a pollen filter. an air filter or anything have the VAT Registered person do it, have the invoice and receipts for the parts and work carried out. PS If you have a 2.0 lt TSI coming and the Engine Cover is missing then ask them when that is getting delivered to you so you can fit it.

Software Update yet to be released. 1.0 MPI
You raised it within the Warranty period. They have accepted there is an issue and they can not resolve it and putting the issue with Skoda CZ / VW Group. Now this rubbish from Customer Services. Now they have to own it. It is their problem to resolve even after 3 years passes. 85% of Fabias with the issue. What total idiots they have doing the Customer Service roll.

Alarm system.
Edinburgh toe rags are maybe nutters but they are not stupid. If the want to pan in your windows they will and if they want the car they will have it.

@Emilyj97 If all you have is it by spoken word from whoever maybe try again and get it from them in writing. Someone somewhere can put their name to their statement. eg.

I am sure that Autocar, / What Car, Auto Express and others will be interested to hear that about the Fabias. There are now Mk4 Fabias out and they are looking to resolve Mk3 issues. Plenty new cars have issues with SOS, and over the air updates. Maybe 85% of all Skoda being first registered in the UK. Now VW Group will love that as a news story. I hope you have that persons name.

@Emilyj97Give it a little time and hopefully there will be some MPI owners or past owners along. The cars came out in 2014 and it is odd that there seems to be little on Social Media / Forums on the issue, and what this Software Update might be. Best ask the people that do Skoda UK's Customer Services to get you info from the Technical Department that seemingly exists somewhere. http://skoda.co.uk/discover/contact-us-form

Welcome. Is the car still within Manufacturers Warranty? Sound like BS, but we might find out. Plenty about here with a Mk3 Fabia. So, What engine & gearbox does your car have? @varooommight come along and maybe can help if you give a VIN.

Karoq issues with noise anti roll bars and suspension top joints
Welcome. Who were you asking, a salesperson or the Master Mechanic from the dealership? They might have hearing issues, or poor memory. If individuals cars had issues then hopefully sorted by now. If the car you are looking at is OK now at a couple of years that is all that matters really. You want some manufacturers warranty left or a good warranty with the car then a good long road test with you driving the car without a salesperson with you. ? What combination of engine gearbox are you looking at? Check what the Service History of stuff done is and any warranty history if they are saying a FMDSH. Full servicing is not enough if it is not to The manufacturers Recommendations, guidelines even schedule. If coming up to 3 years be aware of what is due at 3 years in the way of servicing. Sales people might not read car forums. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/500261-power-steering-noise-from-a-few-weeks http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488870-steering-wheel-creakinggrinding-noise http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/463979-0creaking-from-steering

Octavia 1.5 tsi stage 2
It would be good if anyone that has fitted a pedal box to a 1.5 TSI ACT could comment on their experience and was it worth fitting. @Colin170CRmaybe. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498061-what-have-you-done-to-your-karoq-today/page/3

1.2 tsi coolant temperature issues
Is it a short trip like under 10 miles of stop start where the indicated Oil Temp is just getting to 72*oC?
-
Oil dipstick and cap have strong gasoline odour
Plenty on Oil dilution with Mk2 Fabia vRS Twinchargers / petrols and funnily in the Roomster section with diesels but not with diesels in Fabias. Not seen any mention of it with MPI's.

Dsg thermostat
Look in the Yeti section. Guide section. Thread there.

White smoke
@GOPALAKRISHNAN You have a lot of threads going now about the same car. A mod will be along soon and need to close some as they are related to the wiring or your sensors or the 1.8 TSI's timing chain. Maybe best keep it simple and one thread. The 1.8TSI's possible issues are in a pinned thread at the top of the Octavia Mk2 section.

Service and questions for new owner
Well that was a waste of effort. They have a script, someone somewhere in the world, maybe in the UK, maybe not can give a standard answer. Please let us know what they say. Always good for a laugh.

Service and questions for new owner
Sadly they are crap in Inverness and that is an issue. Who is supplying the car? ? What engine has it, Petrol / Hybrid / Diesel? Best talk with your mechanic. Not much needs doing if all is well. There are issues that can arise with a Mk4 Octavia, so be sure when the get the car the PDI was done correctly, and if not things are dealt with.

Picking up a bike, 1st time?
Watch me riding a push bike with only one leg. That is often enough to make people re-think getting a solo motorbike. I have been to quite a few bikers funerals over the years. It used to be visits to the hospital but these days it is fatalities not just life changing injuries. http://deboys.co.uk The young chef that worked @ Turnberry is doing rather well.

Service and questions for new owner
Where in the highlands are you? An hours drive and an hour or 2's wait is not that much is it really. Who is it though. John Clark Group Skoda or A. N. Other? You want any Updates doing as they come in so yes you can use others, but best use a place with Licensed Equipment and that gets TPI's etc. Someone with the gear and more than just ideas. Your car is only needing serviced each 2 years / 24 months unless changed to Fixed Servicing at the Dealers @ PDI, they should ask you. Victoria Garage Maud Aberdeenshire might be a long way, but better than anyone in Inverness, Perth or Aberdeen to go to for a day out.

Octavia 1.5 tsi stage 2
I know exactly what it does. I have a wee bit of experience and knowledge. It still leaves a 150 ps car which is actually the Minimum power not the max in ideal conditions on 95 ron, and not the max on a higher octane. Your local dealer or the master tech or techs are not paying for warranty work. If anyone owns a car then do what they want fitting Non Factory Approved Hardware or Engine Management, if they do not own it then ask the owners if it is OK to modify. Non of it is difficult. You buy the bits, have them fitted, and if any problems pay to fix them.

Timing chain due time
There is not any guidelines, schedule or recommendations on changing the timing chain and tensioner. ? What petrol engine do you have & how many km has it done? There are engines from certain dates that there are upgrades available for, but if your engine is going well then good. EDIT. Best if you keep your posts together. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505636-hi-friends-timing-chain-life So a 1.8TSI is an engine that can have issues. See the pinned thread at the top of the Octavia Mk2 section. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510084-skoda-superb-elegance-18-petrol-engine-time-chain http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510085-white-smoke http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510040-oil-sensor http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510039-ambient-temperature-sensor

Octavia 1.5 tsi stage 2
Your gear changes with the DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG are fine are they not, so why would you want the pedal box? Fill the tank with super unleaded and put the shifter in S if you want to hold the gears longer and if you keep the accelerator to the floor it will do 130 mph. If you change this car for a faster one you could accelerate quicker.

No "How to guides" on here in this section?

Servicing suggestions
Yes sorry. All getting a bit of an everything. The OP has a TDI i suppose so no Spark Plug change there, and no idea how they use their Scout or where, or where any other members do. Checks and simple stuff saves being ripped off at Dealership, filters can get a shake, a vacuum or a blow through with an airline, but the minimum needs to be checked IMO. The stuff an apprentice used to get to do first, like hinges and stuff.

Servicing suggestions
@Warrior193It is a Karoq Sportline. The issue with Main Dealer Servicing is the Oil & Inspection Servicing and look sees, or do not bother looking. Like in an Air Filter box.

Do I have to change my differential?
There is the issue. UK it is at 3 years / 30,000 miles as it has been for over a decade when Skoda followed a bit after VW having to do R,s at 4 years / 40,000 miles. Places have it as pick a number any number then it gets repeated when the original person had no idea. Ps. As to rear diff there are suggestion of at 90,000 miles. But then a member was launching boats reversed into the sea. Well the rear diff axle has no raised breathers like you might fit to an offroader. Dunk a hot axle and you might just be wanting to change the diff oil more often than never. Skoda UK can not be bothered to have much more than stuff like this published. The website has more showing Electric cars and hybrids but otherwise it is pretty much like this. DSG not by years or all are @ 40,000 miles.
