  1. The near future is never far off. Things will come to those eventually. First they need reliable chargers, rapid maintenance, and reliable communications, then secure devices. So that is many years off, maybe never ever. Getting Mobile Phone Reception covering all of the UK would be an advance, as would digital radio reception. Last week with stuff on the telly about Bitcoin and finance there were many in business and industry discussing 'Blockchain' and how and where it can and will be used. EV charging, subscription etc being something mentioned by one of the major companies involved in the industry. Being able to tap a card to pay at all public chargers and ensure you get a charge into the vehicle will be a good starter. The same at Parking meters would be good. http://eepower.com/news/using-blockchain-to-drive-electric-vehicle-charging-infrastructure/# http://smart-energy.com/industry-sectors/elecric-vehicles/energy-web-develops-blockchain-based-renewable-energy-ev-charging-app
  2. Depends. Do you want the colour code to do wheels in green? There was a recent thread with the Codes for the Green, White & Grey used by Skoda Motorsport. A members Mk2 Fabia. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/420740-mk2-vrs-aka-green-monster/page/2 Things are changing. (They will want the colours to be suiting going electric and selling Skoda EV's.) http://dirtfish.com/rally/wrc/solberg-tests-new-skoda-considering-2023-options
  3. I know a DQ200 is ok above 300 Nm having ran twinchargers with stage 1 and stage 2, with and without uprated clutches. And with and without software update. Over 320 Nm. PS kidology. Polo GTI 2015, 1.8 TSI 192 ps. The supposed lighter manual with lighter gearbox has 320 Nm max and the dq200 DSG just 250 Nm. Weighing the cars, dynoing them and taking them up a strip shows how VW engineers official figures. As they do with Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat. Amazingly heavier cars can be more efficient when the RRP is higher.
  4. Funnily the extra oil and especially gas that was exported in the past 2 years came in the main from Scottish waters. A country with under 6 million is certainly not lacking resources or a means of paying into the treasury. Sad really when there are those that will not see. Best eat their carrots for when the lights go out. The French have seemingly had enough and do not want to pay taxes on the big profits they make generating electricity in the UK.
  5. Dundee Council has multi-storey car park charging on lower levels and on rooftop. Just as so many other places have globally. Time to get the Levelling up Minister on the case. Lower level, middle or upper. The UK government are so out of their depth and clueless regarding the changes in 2030. The proposals for very large charging hubs in Edinburgh are getting pushed forward on the Green Credentials.
  6. @automass. I suspect whoever quoted that price is giving what they quote for a 1.5tsi. arse and elbow with service desk staff. Ask what the labour is on the job.
  7. In a Mk4 2.0TSI 245 you have a DQ381 DSG. http://actronics.co.uk/news/the-evolution-of-the-dsg-gearbox http://tvsengineering.com/en/dsg-gearbox/dq380-dq381
  8. @CarlstonSuzuki used to have 1.5 Diesel Engines in the previous model Jimny Commercials. A Mazda engine, these were available in the Republic of Ireland and elsewhere in the EU but not in the UK. My Jimny 1,328 cc Autos just did 25 mpg or so. But then they were a car that did what many bought them to do, which is why they were very much in demand and still are. 30 mpg is acceptable for many who need a capable small 4x4 these days just as in the past. The emissions are not acceptable which is why Suzuki had to go back to selling them as commercials. If people do not need a gas guzzling vehicle but buying it for their image, that is nothing new. ? What do you need in a car when you are considering from the size of a Citigo to a Kodiaq, is a AWD even something you need in your life? ? What do you drive now?

  10. Check the Skoda Assist, see if it is current, then get a responder out to see what they see, read codes, make sucking noises and see what is said. If it is a Warranty issue, is it going to the Seller, is it going to an Approved Repairer for a diagnosis. ? When did it get bought and was there not 12 months Arnold's Warranty? Rubbish as it is anyway! Are Arnold Clark Perth a Skoda Approved Repairer for the manufacturers warranty? ? Which AC in Perth was it bought at, Fiat or Citroen?
  11. @Carlstonit was the previous model from 1999 that came on 205/70 R 15 from the factory on the totally crap Bridgestone's. The latest 'New Jimny' has 195/ 80 R 15 as the standard fit. Still crap Bridgestone Dueler.
  12. Welcome to the forum. If there is still the manufacturers warranty then is there still Skoda Assist. Call get a responder, so that is the AA, and then they can arrange transport to the Dealership. http://skoda.co.uk/owners/roadside-assistance Is the car going to Perth? For Warranty work what about Thomson & Potter Skoda John Clark Group? ? Is the car serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations OK, i take it not a Skoda Approved Car sold to her by AC. 13. Volkswagen group UK and their Brands keep putting it out in their published advice and have the Customer Services / contractors doing Customer Services giving that advice. They make no attempt to make anything about servicing clear. That is just how it is with VW UK.
  14. @nta16it was the Synthetic oil that had a sulphur build up and which was causing internal corrosion. Then software that with the oil change was causing overheating and pressure and failures. But VW group have soldiered on and made no changes to Servicing advice or schedules, or done the sort of upgrades that commercial companies can provide for those that VW group treat like trash. The lady who died was driving a petrol manual i think it turned out and not a diesel DSG. There were diesel issues with failures and DSG's with failures, but it all get confused. VW never accept anything until courts or governments make them.
  15. Maybe some places like the dude in the Tesla charging free and paying for parking. Perth & Kinross Council has started today charging 35 pence a kWh and £10 overstay after 60 minutes. That might cut down on the charger hoggers that abandon cars on whatever charger. Hopefully also the maintenance of chargers will improve and they will not be out of service foe weeks or months.
  16. @Mr GrumpPodPoint free for 15 minutes will be on a 7kW AC charger. So you might get 1.5 kWh in 15 minutes. 4 1/2 - 6 miles worth of travel maybe. Plug in 4 times and maybe get 7 kw. i get 6.6 kW. that should be 20 miles plus. Just now in the cold weather that just about puts back in 6 miles of trips from the charge the day before. *If you 'Claim' the charger on the App you will stay charging and being paying 28 pence a kWh maybe on the AC 7 kW.* 40 pence on a 22 kW AC and 50 Pence on a 50 kW at Tesco. At LIDL i paid 40 pence on the PodPoint 50 kW and the AC is the same. This has gone up to 50 pence since i last used them. People pay the price of BP and others for convenience and getting a quick charge and on their way. Plenty could not care less about the cost of charging from their pocket or from someone else's.
  17. @TonyArnolddid they get your car sorted out and back on the road?

  19. @JohnHooper How many km has your Kodiaq done? I would have thought Skoda learned by the bad publicity in the past not to have customers driving vehicles with a dodgy DSG. Even though the famous case of a fatality was not with the unfortunate lady driving a DSG.
  20. Sorry to hear this. Sorry no idea what is for the best or the safest. There is a high risk of damage. Skoda Australia must be recognising by now there might be an issue with the DSG's there in a Kodiaq.
  21. Good. On your car is the gear indicator showing you are in Coasting mode and not just ECO, so instead of D7 it just shows D, or does it not work that way? ? When was your car first registered, or do you know when built. @57 mins. @13 mins.
  22. Wonderful. Suits you sir!
  23. You have a 1.5 TSI ACT, so Active Cylinder Technology so it does go to 2 cylinders when it should and can. As to ECO mode, best ready the Owners Manual. .
  24. A mechanic should have a tester to check the H20 content. Brake fluid is hygroscopic. The fluid overheats, or actually the water in it does. Many cars never get the fluid checked or changed. All is well until it is not... You can buy a tester or kit.
