  1. @DaveLeesLots of us drive about in the countryside so need good Headlights, but dipped beam is only needed when the lights are not on full beam because others are driving / riding towards you or are in front of you. Have you driven your car yet with whatever upgrade was done to see what the improvement is and the alignment is good so it is not a case of you having better visibility while other road users suffer worse. ie, Other flashing you when dipped because your dipped beam is annoying.
  2. http://gridwatch.co.uk httpMany are charging Off Peak from the Grid and Octopus would even txt you to plug in during Off Peak periods so that the Grid could be balanced. They even paid you by credit to your account to charge. They paid you more than the low price you would have been paying per kWh. Renewables that can be generated is there to be used or stored, as it is the people that can generate get paid not too. Then in the Northern & Western Island of Scotland there are surpluses of electricity from renewables that can not go to the grid because the Interconnectors are not there. Whitelee windfarm can generate enough energy for Glasgows need daytime, and still at night time but it night not be neeeded, so now the growing Electric Busx Fleet can get charged, and Commercial Batteries can.

There are threads on Self sealing tyres like Continental ContiSeal tyres in the Tyre Section. They have been getting fitted to VW Group cars that have no spares for years. eg Alhambra / Sharan. Lots of vids on Self sealing tyres on Youtube, Pull out a nail that is in the tread and it can self seal, then get to a Tyre Inflator if you have no pump and inflate a bit if required, check the others or adjust and reset the TPMS. A wrecked tyre is wrecked. Some places can and will plug a Self sealing tyre if required, some say not possible because they do not know how to. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/473335-hankook-sealguard http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482598-kodiaq-self-seal-tyres http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/412583-super-rowi-seal-tyres-greenline http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/455213-question-about-tyres http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/247409-self-sealing-tyres From 2012^^^^
  4. Some of the EV,s which are big heavy cars are there taking up too much road space with just a driver while the Government / tax payer / public give them tax breaks. Those days are limited though. So saving on emissions while the electricity is from renewables, available pretty cheap still, but not where the increases price of gas had Coal fired power stations on again producing electricity and Gas Powered generation like Peterhead is the 2nd highest polluter after Grangemouth Refinery which burns oil and gas to produce electricity to produce petrochemicals including Road fuels and others for Marine and Aircraft. As there are nice new EV charging hubs being built so should there be nice Truck Stops nationwide to provide the sort of conditions drivers deserve are fair prices. Cold and wet today and my home heating is off. So going to have a drive in my EV. Heating on, heated seat. Cruise past filling station Queues, then go charge later for free, or at tax payers expense. Hopefully the wind farms are generating in Scotland and the grid needs balancing.
  5. @CReese123do you mean brand new 25,000 miles ago at the factory or have they been replaced since. Have you checked if any warranty work carried out in the car before you bought it?
  6. @croquemonsieur Which engine does your Karoq have and what age? Some DQ200 are fine at crawling speed out of 1st into 2nd and back down at about 6mph and others are sometimes best in S to hold 1st to a higher RPM, some drivers just chose D and there it stays and they have no problems or comments on how a 1.0 or 1.5 TSI behaves. Ford had faulty Twinclutch boxes and Autos, just as VW group have had. Ford had to fess up eventually. I had Durashifts that they never apologised about denying issues with but they had been scrapping vehicles like Transits with Durashift while my one had slipped out of the dealership network, it was a demonstrator that should have never got out to the public as the first built were scrapped. Thankfully it just comes naturally to many drivers who just get in and drive the car according to the engine/ output and DSG the car has. Engine sizes and power makes a big difference to crawling along etc when it can be a 1.0, 1.5 TSI, or 1.6TSI, or the 2.0 TSI's / TDI.s single or twin turbos. More about Wet Clutch. There are Dry Clutch DSG vids as well. Wet Clutch DSG's has the 1 oil for Box and MCU. Requires Servicing. The Twin dry clutch DSG has 2 oils, in the box and for the MCU (Mechatronic Control Unit.) No Service / OIl change intervals or guidelines from VW. Most could not care about moding / software updates.

  8. @croquemonsieur So the big difference is that all might be 7 speed but the Dry Clutch DQ200's on a 1.6 TDI , 1.0 or 1.5 TSI are rather different from the Wet clutch DSG. But all the vehicles with the DSG's do have only 2 pedals. Behaviours can be very different as it might behave when the DSG is fitted to a ACT engine, so that will be 1.5TSI's. PS. I have driven and owned automatics for near 50 years, only 2 pedal cars for 45 years and DSG's for the past 12 years, so i know all about using P in Auto's, CVT's and DSG's. About parking on hills, and hand brakes and i am used to parking Autos i drive or Own and not leaving them in P or with the Parking brake on in Winter during the coldest weather, and chocking the wheels. Some DSGs can be in P or N to start, but must be in P to start when it is minus 10 *oC, they will not start in N. Old habits are hard to break, unlike Pawls. PPS. Served my time as a Motor Engineer / Mechanic, even got City & Guilds. This is from the 2017 Manual, there is a later one.
  9. Yes but then i was a Car Sprayer & Refinnisher, but not a Wrapper. But i apply PPF like i do Window Tints. Carefully. Now using the likes of 3M Line Knifeless Tape is very good when applying PPF.
  10. @Tishout Is Essex now no longer in the UK where Ebay / Amazon deliver PPF which is not that expensive and is not that difficult to apply properly if you learn how to using Youtube.
  11. @CReese123Just out of curiosity i had a look at the other posts you made to see what gearbox you have, so i see a 5 speed and you did an oil change. It would be handy if the posts on the same subject were kept in the same thread. Maybe just me though that likes that.
  12. The UK VIN Checker did not show '34H5' as a recall action and then when Australia called another RECALL in 2019 covering 2009-2015 it then did appear for some UK cars. No idea if it did for all that might be part of the Service Campaign.
  13. @SurreyJohn Could you check that please. I would like to know if yours can start of in S and go to S7. It used to be that DQ200's just went D7 and when the shifter was moved to S it went to S6, some Fabia vRS used to go to S7 above 127 mph under acceleration. But if you were going along in D7 and put on Cruise Control and moved the shifter to S it displayed S7, but the RPM was still as D7.
  14. So much of the Highway Code even the updates are so out of date, like the Sidelight / Parking light stuff. But the Brake Lights bit does go back decades to totally crap rear brake lights / bulbs, like you might see on Original Landrovers to this very day, and the introduction so pre High Level Brake Lights or ones right across a rear Bootlid / spoiler on cars requiring that plastic tat to keep the back end on the road where the NSL is 60 mph and the max limit only 10 mph more. Obviously these mean machines are often tracked and will travel overseas to the place of their birth.
  15. Another wee thing. I do not actually know when VW / Skoda introduced that when you get a Low Oil Level or Low Oil Pressure Light or Message, that if you open the bonnet yet do nothing like check or top up the oil the Warning Light or Message goes out / off and might stay off for 100 km. Many people put in 0.5 litres of oil and think good the light is out. I know that a 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136 kW Twincharger with only an official 3.6 litre oil capacity can be 1.3 litres low before a Low Oil Warning light shows. If driving hard the Low Oil Pressure light or massage might show. Open the Bonnet and close it and no light for another 60 miles. Simply CRAZY Germans.
  16. Basically the EU / EU & other manufacturers do not care about the UK Highway code, they get by using C&U as the EU has it. So drivers need to think about what their rear lights are as also with the front ones. At extended stops maybe use the Parking Brake at extinguish the brake lights. Common offenders in gridlock traffic like the Edinburgh By-pas are in X90 Volvos and possibly with blue lights on the roof. Some rear brake lights are real PITA's IMO. Butterfly shaped ones, Lines the whole width of the rear of the car, and it is not just supposed prestige German vehicles, there is a French Manufacturer that has some really ridiculously bright brake lights, lets just call them Renault, but Peugeot also do some horrible lights.
  17. Unless you are paying attention to the UK Highway code. Then do not hold your foot on the 'Brake' pedal or even leave a car with Autohold that puts the Brake lights on for extended stops, maybe weather conditions where Brake Lights are dazzling the road user behind you, (Bikers, Cyclists, low sports cars, just anyone generally.) Just a British thing for many, common courtesy. Put in in N & Apply the Parking Brake.
  18. @HeavyMetalRich The reason i am careful about the Warranty T&C's and what is said here and elsewhere is because of the guff that can get trotted off at Skoda Dealership by Salespeople or Service Desk Staff including managers. They do that job full time in many cases so 5, 6 or sometimes 7 days a week and yet do not know an important part of the product they sell. They should know the T&C's word for word. It helps a customer with any issues if they get to know and understand the warranty as it is basically a financial / insurance agreement that is entered into by both parties.
  19. However you read it on the flat do it when stone cold, then do it as it needs read to see if enough oil, which is once at operating temp so that is near to 90*oC indicated and a few minutes after the engine is stopped. VW / Skoda do not say what a few minutes is, but 4 or 5 is a few, 10 is not. You will see that this Skoda instruction tells you 1.2 44kW engines checked cold, others 'warm', well the VW, Seat & Audi manuals said 'Hot' or Normal Operating temp, in English or US English. The CZ Company do often have an issue as VW do with translation from German to Czech to Spanish, English and imagine to Chinese then back again.
  20. It is not only councils around Scotland with Fleets of EV's not being driven it is the NHS and other tax payer funded organisations and agencies. It must happen in other parts of the UK as well. Lots sitting about in Angus unused even ones council department have from sponsors. They say because of the pandemic yet employees are still going about during work in non EV's. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/news/green-row-over-scots-council-25072357
  21. @HeavyMetalRich The T&C's are in the post above yours. No sign of any 3,000 miles, there is 6,000 miles there though.
  22. Quite a bit of misinformation in the 4 Sources. Mixing up EU / European and Global VW group cars can cause this. Like the 1.0TSI's which do still come with a DQ200, but e-Tech and DQ200's will eventually be the norm, but not with the not yet available Fabia or others models in production. As to the S7 thing & a DQ200 Twin Dry Clutch DSG, those with a DQ200 DSG might want to see if they can get S7 displayed without having it in Cruise Control where it is not actually in S7. Remember this if tempted to stop for an extended period of time with other road users behind, including if Autohold puts the brake lights on.
  23. @MarioVrs Is the Car Care Plan a Skoda UK Official one as i have never heard of it? I used to buy Skoda Approved Extended Warranties that were from Car Care LTD. There is the Skoda 'All in service plan' now or the Bespoke Plans as well as what Dealerships offer with New or Used cars.. http://skoda.co.uk/owners/all-in-service-plan http://skoda.co.uk/owners/bespoke-plans
  24. A small point but while DSG's work similarly there are differences with Wet Clutch 6 or 7 speeds and 7 speed twin dry clutch ones. Then how you might use them with a mechanical parking brake with Hill Hold Assist / Control or without or with 'Autohold' & an e-Brake. So when talking Karoq's you are thinking about cars with Stop / Start and e-Brakes but the different flavours of DSG's with engines 150ps / 250 Nm or less and those with that but Haldex, and then those with more than 150 PS / 250Nm and FWD or AWD. PS Putting the shifter into P (Park) has the DSG out of Gear but more importantly the wheels are locked with the Pawl. That is not 'To Sleep', that is the Front Wheels unable to move, the car can not roll.
  25. @Llanigrahammight be one of the members able to assist. EDIT / PS. Sorry for my ignorance i needed a reminder. Congratulations & well done.
