New personal best - 1.5Tsi 83.3mpg / 153miles
@Ecomatt Have you any idea of the energy & Oil & Gas is used to get oil & gas to the UK & to produce Electricity to refine it to produce road fuels in cracking plants? Electricity generating in the UK is not difficult, it is the Government that makes it a song and dance and likes plastering about with England and Wales and the National Grid and infrastructure. Storage of the energy that can be produced is the issue hence importing it from abroad while paying to not produce in the UK turning off generation from Wind Farms and Gas / Oil powered and other renewable generations. How much actual electricity is being produced this year in the UK from burning coal? http://gridwatch.co.uk http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-47386760

@EnterName Do not get an EV then. It is as simple as that. If your regular journeys are to places where charging is not an issue and involves waiting around anyway or you have nothing particular you need to do for an hour every 4 hours or so it works for people that do have them. You have money to blow on stuff that you might not have otherwise if you spend it on fuel, congestion charges etc. Somepeople can get some work done while their vehicles gets charged.

A 25mpg Chelsea Tractor really might not work out costing less to anyone in Scotland even buying with a 6 year interest free loan and free charging and parking and tax benefits of using an EV. Even those leasing an EV can save themselves cash money over driving a ICE vehicle. Each 200 miles costing about £40ish in petrol or diesel. I know because i pay that each 200 miles often.

Servicing question
@freeb1rd No DSG oil change required then as it is a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch with no Service Schedule / Guidelines for oil changes.

No dedicated HVAC controls
VW Group have gone too far really with the controls and also with crappy shiny black plastics. (Rear GTI badge is just so naff / Ebay.)

@J.R. I really wondered about reference to the 'New Corsa' Advert. But i see it was from an article on the ASA Investigating one 4 years ago. A big issue with Touch Screens is that in right hand drive cars there are plenty right handers that have issues using the left fingers to do the touching. Obviously something that might well apply to left hand drive cars and left handers. ? What did they think of the Advanced Parking ad?

Servicing question
@freeb1rd What Engine so what DSG does your car have? The Brake Fluid Change is Scheduled for doing at 3 years old. If the car has a DSG that gets oil changes then that is at 40,000 miles (Some are now @80,000 miles) *YOUR CAR IS 2 YEARS AWAY FROM A DSG OIL CHANGE AT YOUR ANNUAL MILEAGE.* ? When was the Pollen / Cabin Filter changed? What about the Air Filter, has it been even looked at? If a TSI are you getting the Spark Plugs changed @ 40,000 miles? *AGAIN IN 2 YEARS TIME.* If a TDI the Fuel Filter might get changed in 2 years time / 40,000 miles. Go on Variable Servicing if you want, but do you want to get MOT'd each year and brakes etc looked at every 2 years or are you going to be doing checks pre and post winters? http://volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes EDIT, http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482740-service-plan-questions

Clutch? problems on 55000 miles - who to turn to?
@Teacherspet So the engine is clear enough. Is it a 7 speed DSG? ? Was it part of the Service Campaign '34F7' and had the Oil Changed from Synthetic to Mineral and a software Update sometime since early 2014? Sticker in the spare tyre well. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions EDIT, OK got your post after i posted. So they should guarantee their work, and they might well be hopeless. Even one of Scotlands biggest Dealership groups can have Techs that are crap. This DQ200 DSG is the same as yours even though in a Fabia vRS. If late 2012 from the factory it never got 34F7 or Service Campaign 34H5 carried out. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444617-7sp-dq200-dsg-failure £2,800 paid at a Skoda Main Dealership for a New Mechatronic Control Unit and Clutch Pack & they farmed the work out. (They even tried to charge for the first MCU they ruined because the Tech was clueless.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/475102-dq200-dsg7-mechatronic-tear-down-repair-changes-in-body

Clutch? problems on 55000 miles - who to turn to?
@Teacherspet Is this a DQ200 DSG you are asking about since you are saying a replacement MCU and Software updates? What age is the car? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/483018-gearbox-issue

Viewing my first Mk2 Fabia VRS tomorrow
If they have been in for 15,000 then they are damn good as is the engine. *Oddly Skoda UK say that a car should be serviced by its miles not the engines age / miles.* This meant that some might get a new engine and new plugs and oil and filter and the 'Fixed Service' at say 40,000 miles was a few months later and according to Dealers / Skoda new oil, filter and plugs could be required. They are just 'Simply Stupid' a lot of the time.

Dsg7 problem scorching 2nd
There is no Service Schedule or Guidelines from Skoda / VW on DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG's. There is a TPI and Service Campaign / Recall Action on some from 2013-2015 which started in 2017. A Software Update introduced as a 'Preventative Measure' because of heat / pressure issues. In Australia this is yet another 'RECALL' started in 2019, just like the World Wide Recall started in 2012 on 2009-2012 DQ200 DSG's.

Emission Control System Warning Light
@DHarry What you have shown in the picture is what is done on the 'Check' on the ignition going on, but the Yellow & Red oil cans do not show then. There are still ones that light when they are triggered. And there is a Low Oil & Low Oil Pressure Warning message. ? Is there nothing on them in the Owners Manual for your car as in this Superb's Manual? The Exhaust Emissions Light (Engine Light) and the EPC light (Electrical Power Control light.) really is different from a 'Low Oil' or Low Oil Pressure light.

DSG brake pedal height
@Scot5 Maybe best you go try some more driving with your and other's DSG's and get to know about how the DSG's wet or Dry clutch operate. The Left Foot Braking issue and warning is not the old story of those not autos or 2 pedals and auto cars driving into others in car parks as they get confused. Automatics, CVT's etc and throttle and a bit of braking is different with a DSG where the brake pedal can cut power / drive when used. It is a case of just knowing the system and getting used to it and there are drivers using both feet with a DSG. I use the left foot for braking, but then i use the left foot on the accelerator as well as i only have 1 foot. PS Motability is a Charity that provides Vehicles and Wheel Chairs to those in receipt of PIP or DLA. Dealerships will have a 'Motability Specialist' that will know the local 'Vehicle Adaptors for Controls of vehicles'. They can do work on behalf of 'Motability Customers' or just Private Individuals that Insurance Companies will be happy with. One easy solution is a flip pedal that moves the throttle to the left of the brake, or has a throttle both left and right of the brake pedal, but that does not lower the brake pedal which is the issue in this thread Bottom pic is how i leave my own cars. Only thing i change is maybe the rubbers on pedals, or the shape. The reason for standard so no confusion with pedals changing vehicles. Pretty difficult in my experience moving left foot from left throttle to brake to the right of it. My Artificial foot stays where it is and left foot operates both pedals.

Keith's 2015 Mega Hot Hatch Thread
Something has gone a bit Pete Tong with VW or Autocar, or VW & Autocar. (Honesty is the best policy, and it is good to see motoring journalists telling it as they see & feel things.) Their reviewer has commented on DSG issues. Surely by now VW can just build cars and DSG's that will be smooth and quick as you operate the accelerator pedal.

Water retention in doors
@LA1Eboy Welcome to the forum. You identify the long term issue that Skoda's have had for decades now and that Skoda CZ seem to just ignore and carry on through the generations of models and carry on into new models. It is not 'Simply Clever' it is just Simply bl00dy ridiculous! No Vorsprung Durch Technik in Czechia, about time that another head of Skoda was off to pastures new as each one signs off the new models with the same 'Snagging issues' that they might or might not resolve eventually.

Replacing Yeti
Ford had to sort out the 3 cylinder engines that they co-cked up, but that is sorted now, and people got compensation or buy backs. BMW / MINI do very well with them. Only 1.0 N/A's were in a Citigo, they never got the TSI as VW did for the UP!, and the Karoq, Fabia, Rapid, Scala, Kamiq & Octavia are doing OK with 1.0TSI's, and how they are with GPF's is still something that only time can tell.

DSG brake pedal height
Best be very careful with a DSG and left foot braking, be sure there is no use of accelerator even a little when the brake is applied. Then the brake pedal is the same height if used with the left foot, but actually you lift the foot from the floor which is more than if over an accelerator pedal and just moved to the brake pedal.

Air Con Service
A 'Full Main Dealer Service History ' would be servicing to the Manufacturers Schedule or 'Guidelines', and a Service of the A/C does not appear in the Oil & Inspection Servicing, or the Extended Scope at 3 years in the 'Skoda Fixed Price Servicing and Maintenance, or in the 'Service Plans' if you buy a 2 or 3 year one. Brake Fluid changes are an 'extra' cost option as well. Skoda / VW / Audi / SEAT Approved used cars might have a 'Full Main Dealer Service History', That will show what little 'Full Main Dealer Servicing' actually means gets done in 3 years. They / Skoda Dealers and Skoda should be a bit better at reminding owners / keepers about Haldex Service at 3 years, DSG at 40,000 miles, and less about A/C services at 2 years.

Ford throws VAG a lifeline
@Octy0GG Anyone partnering with the VW Group know what they will be dealing with & Ford and VW in partnership now with Commercials is likely to end in tears. VW got all the Technical knowledge for the Mild Hybrids from the period that they were part owners of Suzuki who had it with Toyota, Honda,GM & Mitsubishi. Suzuki were not that stupid though, they bought themselves out on the very night before VW Group were exposed as 'cheaters and liars and frauds' on Green Diesel matters. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34275917 Just a pity that VW Group never got better help with their DSG's for use with their lower powered engines before now. They talked a good game, they just never managed in a decade to get them all right.

Ford throws VAG a lifeline
If you do not want a manual and need or want 2 pedal driving from the VW Group / Skoda then it will soon have to be a 1.0 or 1.5 tsi with mild hybrid to get a DSG. Or Plug in and DSG to get a 1.4TSI.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
A nice New Filling Station, Charging Hub, HGV Parking, restaurant & retail outlets are well underway at the side of the A90 on the outskirt of Forfar. Near the Chargeplace Scotland free EV charging & the Angus Council HQ, Marston's Restaurant and the the busy McDonalds and the very quiet up to now KFC. Forfar Country Park / Loch is just a short distance away to pass the time as the car charges.
