driving lights led swap.
What year is the car, and does it give you indication of failed bulbs on the instrument cluster?

Only if I'm still around to hear it! π Indeed. Both the food producers and the drug companies would much rather we remained ignorant about the dangers of a high carb diet. It's refreshing to hear a humble sounding doctor stand up to the establishment (with extremely valuable support from his wife acknowledged) and not be afraid of telling the truth.

Sounds like you look after yourself pretty well.

You can buy little inline electronic modules that remember the last chosen mode for the next journey. Not too expensive as it's quite an easy thing to do electronically. Doubt this one is model-suitable, but this sort of thing: Automatic Stop Start Engine System Off Device Control Sensor Plug Stop Cancel | eBay

Fuel filter
I'll freely admit to not having the slightest idea what maintenance a petrol station tank may or may not require. Also no idea whether the filter is removable and cleanable within one of these new-fangled combined pump/filters, but I doubt it.

Electric Window Problem
Get it back if you possibly can, I can mend it for you (see signature below). Did the 2nd hand Polo one come with any sort of warranty?
-
Electric Window Problem
Unfortunately 2nd-hand ones are unlikely to be any more reliable than the original. Testing them to be sure of full (and continuing) function is not straightforward. Do you still have the original?

Electric Window Problem
Where did the replacement motor come from and was it an exact part number match? Do you still have the original?

Fuel filter
Is there a problem you are trying to solve @CRISB? If not, leave this alone for about 10 years. Not on a plastic fuel-tanked petrol car unless fuel quality is in doubt.

@Gerrycan have you watched/listened to the Unwin video? I'm confused by your last paragraph because it seems to fly in the face of what Unwin is saying. High carbohydrate means high sugar, because the former is almost instantly converted into the latter. This is unnecessarily difficult for the body to deal with compared to protein and fat as nutrients. So you are seemingly doing the opposite of what is being recommended here? Your BMI is fine, isn't it? Waist circumference is felt to be a better thing to measure though, I think, lately

Problems Starting
Probably the starter solenoid wire about to give up due to cracked insulation and resulting corrosion of the copper strands. Here's a photo of where it is, the red wire in the picture is a repair I did to ours a few years back, original wire is red/black I think, and thinner than that.

Warning light
Find and visually inspect the DPF pressure sensor, they have been known to melt, which might be obvious at a glance. Back of the engine bay near the firewall, often.

Moving from an ICE vehicle to an EV - my first 1000 miles and observations on The Good and The Bad
What would be quite neat in this day-and-age of ultra-connected society is if people could formally offer online their home charging facilities to others while they are not in active use, on a fee-charged, profit-making basis. AirB&B-ish? Does this exist yet?

You might be thinking of this one, which I think probably posted a few years back. A mere 12 minutes? Dr Unwin's is much more important, incomparably so; sorry Ms Ekhart. I wish everyone in the world would watch it. In another of his he points out that obesity and Type 2 Diabetes are an ongoing pandemic that kills far more people than Covid. And largely avoidable, and often reversible without drugs.

I've no idea what you mean by that Ken.

Skoda Fabia Mk1 1.4 MPI 16V Exhaust
It's probably more reliable with an aftermarket window control system than with the factory one. βΊοΈ

How long will it last?
Keep on top of maintenance and fixing any body rust that might appear and that could easily be good for a decade or more. The engine or the car generally?

MPG keeps dropping
Because VCDS Lite is a free download, so it's unnecessary. CD may include malware. I don't know what CAN commander is, maybe that isn't freeware, but you don't need that for scans on a mk1 anyhow.

MPG keeps dropping
I should think so. The software is a free download from ross-tech, so I'm always a tad suspicious (maybe unfairly) of packages that include a CD/DVD, but the key thing is a cable that goes from OBDII port K-line data to USB using an FTDI chip, which that appears to. Inspected the servo hose yet?

Skoda Fabia Mk1 1.4 MPI 16V Exhaust
Having said that, there's a new genuine 6Q0254504CX on ebay from germany at just over 200 quid, now that I look. Bargain, if it's the right one for your car and arrives intact.

Exhaust part numbers are here (view on computer not phone to see all info) exhaust pipe with catalyst - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2005 year] (7zap.com) The last 8 digits of your VIN will tell you if it's the first item 1A or the second. The far right button with side-to-side arrows will list aftermarket equivalents. New genuine are going to be impossible to find and/or impossibly expensive. 2nd hand parts are likely to be in poor condition. For the avoidance of possible confusion sources, F >> 6Y-54260 000 means for VINs up to and including this number (work from the right hand end of your VIN to see if the last 8 digits are more or less than this). F 6Y-54260 001>> means from this number onwards. To make any sense of the dates in the 'data model' column, remove the leading '20' from each.
