  1. If I remember right from my hire cars, you press HOME button, and then swipe-down the top of the screen. I think the updates are located in there. I regularly update the Skoda hirecars I get to drive! :-)
  2. I have found the auto stop/start is quite aggressive. On my 2019 Scout, it cuts the engine when you are still moving and coming to a halt. Very disconcerting. I am sure that Skoda tweaked the auto stop/start when Ad-Blu was added, because my previous test drives of DSG gearboxes (older cars 2017 and 2018 Octavias), the car came to a halt and then cut the engine. There are certain 'fixes' that stop the auto/stop/start that can be performed in VCDS but not all cars will respond to battery voltage tweak. You learn to adjust your driving style. With slow moving traffic, I personally switch off auto stop/start. As to the previous postings, agreed DSG cars should not stall; it does sound like clutch drag that stalls the engine. I would recommend getting a DSG oil change done first (because the oil pressure in the gearbox changes the pressure of the clutch plates), then checking it out again. Continued stalling and other odderities possibly point to a control board either needing a firmware update (because Skoda do seem to like put old firmware on their cars) or worse case...a new control board (really expensive).
  3. So - along the lines of the fact that the Silicia teabags have been removed, you need to renew the silica in the coolant for pump and engine coolant lubrication. That's why the coolant needs to be changed every 5 years or 60,000 miles. This is taken from an old spec pre 2012 when they started using G12.
  4. For 17" inch wheels, you can buy a full sized steel spare. For 18" and above its space savers. You can buy it all as a kit (about 280 quid) or buy the wheel and tyre kit separately.
  5. I suspect that when you put loads into the boot or were 4 up, the car probably would react better. I tended to be driving alone most of the time on my errands; kept the tyres at about 34/35 PSI (because 32PSI was too low).
  6. Its horrible and crashy. Not at all relaxing. Compared to my 2019 Scout, it is chalk and cheese. I found it overly stiff and jarring, especially at main road speeds. The suspension in my MY2010 Scout was better than the MY16 car. Asked dealer about it when I first got the car; he basically stated that they were all like that.
  7. Sadly, not 100% true with the DSG wearing less. A DSG gearbox will still wear its clutch if abused although it will be a DQ381 box which is designed to go up to a 3litre TDI engine and about 280bhp, so it will be a lot more resilient.
  8. This is going to be my next upgrade to my Scout. I may come and PM some of you to talk about which bits I need and as always will try and write it up to assist others. Making my MK3 FL closer to a MK4!
  9. Congratulations Sasha. The TDI190 is SO much better than the 150 unit. The one in my Octy Scout rocks! It looks like like a fantastic car. As you said, the budget is blown.....hope to see it in the flesh soon!
  10. There is a nice thread ongoing for upgrading VRS Clutches....
  11. Good luck. I hope you get it sorted. My genuine OEM clutch and replacement slave cylinder cost 950ukp from my dealer in Edinburgh. You can get it cheaper at an independent VW specialist. I would also speak with Darkside Developments who are awesome. They can advise on better clutches for tuned Octavias.
  12. As an aside, what is the feel of the clutch pedal. If its soft, you also need a new slave cylinder for the clutch. They can fail.... another weak area. A clutch replacement with Skoda would also include a slave cylinder.
  13. If your car is your daily driver, then you should be okay. Drive really gently. Nurse it through. If this was my car, personally I would put in a new DMF and Clutch at the same time. I would budget about 1200ukp or 1400euros for this work. A performance clutch and flywheel will at least get you the ability to get the power down. If I was also being super cautious then a gearbox oil change would be beneficial. I am assuming a manual gearbox here. https://www.sachsperformance.com/en/clutch-kit/performance-clutch-sachs/clutch-with-flywheel-883089000126
  14. I would recognise a failing DMF as metal clanking from the gearbox area. There is a nice article here. https://www.phoenixfriction.com/t-symptoms-of-dual-mass-flywheel-failure.aspx
  15. A quick google shows that SACHS race clutch would be what you are looking for. https://www.sachsperformance.com/en/clutch-kit/performance-clutch-sachs/performance-clutch-kit-001422-999505b
  16. The standard clutches are not good. I had a new clutch on my 30k Octavia VRS TSI 230 back in November. Its not usual. The engines are great, the clutches are weak. There are plenty of aftermarket clutch kits out there. Lets hope you haven't damaged the Dual Mass Flywheel in the process.
  17. ARH - the churping cam-belt. Okay - there is a TPI associated with this fault. It seems to be that on certain cars, the cam-belt catches the belt-tensioner. Slightly poor tolerances on the belt. Skoda should honour a warranty repair here. I am also assuming that your car is a 2.0TDI - either 150 or 190bhp. Had this fixed on my 2019 Scout. They put a wax stick on the side of the belt for me; it seems to be still going well 10000 miles later.
  18. Well - I would definitely suggest NOT lowering the Scout's suspension. If you are going to do that, you would be sensible to go back to standard suspension. Might I suggest retrofitting suspension from a FL Scout onto your 2015 car? I had a 2016 Scout - and I agree that the suspension was *rubbish*. My 2019 Scout suspension is AMAZING - wonderfully wafty suspension that makes driving the car so much better.
  19. A rattle from under the car sounds exhaust related. Make sure that all of the rubbers are properly seated and that the DPF / Cat is not loose - ditto silencers.
  20. @peter3197The boot latches sometime need resetting in terms of it fitting; the fit is very tight and can cause the boot not to latch sometimes. Ask your dealer to adjust your boot latch when you are next there.
  21. Lack of firing could also mean that the mobiliser could be faulty and causing the car the fail - what era is this Passat? (year?)
  22. Agreed - a plus one here for the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. You could also consider Pirelli P-Zero tyres as well (although they still aren't as good as the Michelin's).
  23. Are you loosing any coolant? I am thinking leaking heater matrix. What is the smell of the liquid? @ordsalso mentioned sunroof - do you have a sunroof?
  24. Is this the top radiator hose that has potentially split? In terms of finding parts; it sounds like you want to do this yourself, so my first suggest would be to shell out on an hour's worth of Skoda erwin. https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do Type in your chassis number and then you can download the maintenance manual for your car.
  25. Yes, you need 0478 - which will fix a lot of gremlins....I've written a process on here on how to upgrade the firmware.
