  1. I think it probably down to a carplay update and iOS update not working nicely with the MySkoda app. Suggest you email the app developers in Mlada: [email protected] to tell them.
  2. Yes - contact @pab567 who maybe able to assist. You will need a new MIB system and new screen for your Fabia3.
  3. Hats off to you GeoffLeTaxis....running a VRS as your taxis!!!
  4. oooohhh - be SUPER SUPER careful - and especially if you have ODBEleven (because it has been known to mess things up). Sorry to say that if you are going to start serious modding, then you really need a minimum of a VCDS system from Ross-tech.com With VCDS you can perform a full status backup of all of the settings for each module (or the whole car). You then have a template to go back to if you mess things up (and its too easy). That's the thing about the labels for software functions in VW Group cars - they are half in German, half in English. The FL cars also got a whole load of GEN2 characteristics and labels (some which replaced GEN1 and some that brought in new functionality). You GEN2 functions will be different to any other vehicle and I know that @langers2k would be super-keen to hear from you when you have a scan as he seems to be the arbitor of knowledge of difference between the various different car years and their functions and what you can do to each car. The labels describe functions that are technical, so even a German->English translation tool canny always help. You Scout is the last of the MK3's - a superbe car....keep it and cherish it, because the MK4's are protected and cannot be modified in the same manner as the MK3's.
  5. No - it has to be applied either by the dealer or in theory by yourself. Oddly enough, you don't have a MENU key, but it you did, you would go and press/hold it and go to Software FeCC - find the part code for Smartlink - then put in your key that the dealer has given you (its on a piece of paper). Then the feature is enabled. You cannot enable this function via VCDS. The other option is that you get hold of a hack MIB system....but that is a whole world of pain. Sorry - Skoda dealer time I'm afraid.
  6. Go for XL tyre rating 92 and above (big chunky tires with overrunners for the Scout) - and go for the highest speed. Your insurance company is only going to ask questions if you run different tyre sizes or if you are speeding along the Autobahn at 130mph on H rated winter tyres. Go for higher load ratings if you have lots of weight in the back - so 88 and above. Going for lower speed ratings that your OEM's could be an issue, but if you have enabled (and can show you have enabled the Winter tyre speed notification), then this should allow you to proceed with impunity.
  7. Yerr - that's about right! However tasteless you think something is, there still always be somebody with the taste gene removed. I'm personally looking for a 'dropped' VRS candy pink Octavia with bang'n base-speaker.
  8. True - but I'm for expressing things in life as you like them. Wouldn't it be boring if all our cars were the same.....plus I'm stick with me man from Glasgow (Scottish Massive)
  9. I would go with the highest speed capable - I own a Scout - and I use V rated tyres (cos the Scout will waft up to 136mph with a following wind). I think the rule is top speed plus 12mph or something dafy like that. I have V rated tyres for both my summer and winter rubbers - 148/149mph.
  10. Looks the business. If you like it, then that is the only person you need to convience. All other's opinions can tick-tock right off.
  11. @NikTheGeek This is a good point - whether VW Group have continued their installing the Silica Teabags in new Skodas (from 2020 onwards). Agreed that all owners of MK3 Octavias also need to check too.
  12. There is also a firmware update that needs to be done - I'm sure that @e-Roottoot told us that on another thread for the DQ200 box. I suspect the mechatronics card is failing, which is why the fault looks intermittent.
  13. I think a lot of folk forget to treat the leather in their cars - and also forget the gators and handbrakes and gearlevers. That damage is caused by the drying of the leather and the top napping wearing away from constant use......folks.....you need to treat your leather parts of your car.....(I used Autoglym, but other products are definately available).
  14. I know folk may not keep their cars for more than 5 years from when they do the tank change - but it is important to tell the dealer/trader that you sell your car to - that the coolant silica bag has been removed. VW/Skoda's records will still have lifetime coolant in it. The alternative is to ask your local Skoda Dealer or VW Specialist to put a note into your car VIN's details - that coolant will need to be changed after 5 years.
  15. The VRS is a motorway muching tool. Great machine. If fuel economy is important, then get a Diesel 181 VRS (FL variant if you can afford it). Second hand prices on MK3 Octavia are crazy expensive at the moment, only because of Brexit (hard to get imports into the UK) and poor supply of MK4's
  16. Speak with @pab567 who maybe able to get you a new MIB unit (even an MIB2 unit) that is properly modified for your car.
  17. Yes, usually a failing expansion tank cap - these are known to fail. Try getting a new one from theskodashop.co.uk - Hortons Skoda and see if that fixes your problem.
  18. That's a new one. Electric Waterpump. Errr - no - its belt driven - ie mechanically driven. Would avoid places that try to B/S you like that - if they are trying to extract more money from you at the outset, what's their service going to be like?
  19. Absolutely - you have the choice for either Android Auto/Carplay or the in-built maps. The choice is yours.
  20. You can download the updated maps from updateportal.skoda-auto.com - or you can download them from this forum [have a look in the ICE/Entertainment systems part of the forum for the links]. Both MIB1 and MIB2/2.5 maps are fully supported.
  21. Sounds like you are on Fixed Servicing schedule....that canny be reset unless you do it with a VCDS or ODBEleven....or preferably the dealer! You are allowed 1000 miles over, but you will just have to put up with shouty car "SERVICE NOW!" in your Maxidot display until servicing day.
  22. Yes - oddly enough, we have our chief technician at our Skoda garage lives about 50 miles from his work [100 mile round trip], so was quite surprised to find our half/full tank almost quite close to the red when we collected it. However, I have a good arrangement with our Skoda Garage and they give me little freebees to make up - we have 4 Skodas in our household...and I get given all the nice brand-new loan cars when we visit for a service.
  23. Angled long nose pliers. Good call. Sorry the LED's didn't work out, the projector headlights aren't really designed for that. Something that AGFalco said too about the beam on the headlights being set too low also rings true too. Will have to investigate another day.
  24. For earlier Mk2 and non FL Mk3, its 5 years or 60k miles. I wouldn't risk my car going to 140k miles. That's just crazy.
