  1. I think any cheap screenwashes where there isn't enough alcohol, or where people run very dilute concentratiuons or even water in the summer can cause problems with scum build up. That being said I've used VW, sonax, Vauxhall, halfords advance concentrated, autoglym, the blue prestone from costco and also the yellow one when it was needed in a hurry and can't say I've had any problem with any of them. I used to live in very hard water areas and now live in soft and the only thing I found in hard water was that some of the cheaper ones (non VW) did allow the hard water deposits to build up on the fan jets, which then had to be cleaned out with vinegar etc. I also keep a bottle of the 100:1 sonax in the car for emergencies, but that's only summer grade and gets a splash of something winter rated in it as soon as I get home/to somewhere that sells it.
  2. If they serviced the fuel filter, I would think maybe a trainee (hopefully not an experienced tech) removed the clip, got stuck and forgot about it when going to get help. The other option is that clips can break, albeit it would be extremely rare. For example if a lug opened up. That or it’s just hanging on the lower end of the pipe.
  3. I don’t think it’s attractive, but it’s not unattractive. There are a few other cars I like the look of a lot more, but they use more power to do less miles and lack 800V charging.
  4. I was ready to go on an EV6 but decided to wait 3 months as everyone is releasing new EV/refreshes. Most EV at the moment have a compromise on handling/ride, range, charging speed or just how it feels when you’re sat it it. The EV6 was far ahead, but this is another “it’s there but doesn’t work yet” feature. Glad I’m waiting until 2022 now. 👍
  5. It’s fair to say this question has been asked by the OP and answered before.
  6. I'm told the EV6 has pre-conditioning (by two dealers), so can you give me a heads up as to if it's not there or there but not working? Certainly the car has heaters in the battery pack and so everything is there for it. Admittedly I'm looking at heat pump equipped cars, but it would be good to know.
  7. I mean it's tempting and when they ban new petrol and diesel cars, it'll keep going strong for years.
  8. Also how do you get them out? Any instructions/pictures. Edit, actually just realised your first picture is from a video by truckers on the net. Be interesting to see how mucky car headlights get.
  9. Have to say, if a car can't cope with all the lights being on, whilst the engine is running, then it probably shouldn't be on the road. That is after all it's default state on the road, which could include them all being on.
  10. I'd be tempted to swap out the headlights to the correct bulbs and have a look at the rear brakes/handbrake and if you find nothing amis then take it to the local council MOT centre for a second opinion. They don't do repairs so have nothing to gain from failing you.
  11. Many of the policies I see are up to X* Where the * denotes it is unlimited or a higher amount if factory fit equipment. Worth checking to see if there is such an exception on yours?
  12. Fixed that for you 😂😂😂
  13. I’ve hidden your email address so you don’t get a torrent of spam mails. People should be able to reply on thread or send you a personal message (PM) on the forum and you can always share your email on PM if needed👍
  14. I’m the first to admit I don’t like verstappen (or Hamilton much). However letting only enough cars through, so the car on brand new soft tyres could have a go at the car on 40 lap old hard tyres… That was plain wrong. Either let non through or all. If none had gone, then I still think max would have been on him at the end, but it would have been fair.
  15. …. Well that descended rapidly!
  16. Assume intelligent was in double quotes because it’s clearly not, but it does have a parameter set.
  17. On the mk3, it isn’t an issue as far as I saw. The other bits I mentioned like tyre pressures etc were reset, but the radio wasn’t for me. As for no recode… I wouldn’t, especially when even Halfords will do it included in their £20. It says you should and it resets the intelligent charging system, but you get the correct tech battery set. Why wouldn’t you?
  18. The original design was IMHO far more resilient than the more familiar tea bag style design.
  19. I don’t think it’s a new sump, but I’m only looking at a picture. Is the paint glossy and new or feels older? I don’t know how old the car is but it’s not an old sump either. The oil filter looks new and has 10/21 on it, so that’s something.
  20. If you read the manual, the regen takes place at lower than 3000rpm (between 1800 and 2250 RPM IIRC). Perhaps take it for a 30 minute drive on an evening, on a quiet motorway up a couple of junctions and back. The forced regen you need to be careful of, because I believe you need to set fans and other things to make sure there is sufficient cooling on a static car.
  21. 2 miles is pretty normal for a diesel as they're much more efficient than a petrol car, so generate less excess heat. I'd give it a week or two before you go changing parts. If you're chaning the parts, change the header tank, just in case the silica bag/tube has split. It's so cheap it's not worth making a mess of a new matrix for the sake of the tank.
  22. The same applies to the use of inappropriate terminology from the past too. I'm sure everyone knows how to take the edge off things without any further moderation being required should they choose to do so. 👍
  23. There is the filter housing too, so it could be that. I’ve seen it crack in one before that allowed leaks in a different vehicle. I wouldn’t trust a bottle jack if I’m getting under the car, i suggest just sliding your camera under and recording a video. That’ll give you a good idea.
  24. I’m sure they do, hence a post and comment in the thread rather than anything more.
  25. Like I said I don’t think that oil is suitable and I’d get it changed. You manual will however confirm this. Rather than taking it back, I personally would get under the car with a camera to seek out new parts/see what was actually done. I would probably suggest you take it to a trusted garage so they can confirm what if anything has been done and what needs doing. Get them to write a report if they state anything beyond what you expect. It could be that they put the wrong part in the car, it can happen, but as they gave you a BMW part and used what looks like the wrong oil, I personally would give up taking it back due to risk of creating more problems. Perhaps some members in London can recommend a decent specialist garage.
