  1. Provided you keep the Amazon account I believe you’ll still have access. If downloaded I reckon you’d need to view through an Amazon app of some sort. There is probably some form of DRM on the videos but there might be some s/ware out there that can unpick it, but like for some early DRM protected BluRays. I haven’t tinkered with that for years so many of the best programs will have changed by now but I used to use HandBrake.
  2. No condensation in mine.
  3. @Suffolk - map updates are available over-the-air as part of the Infotainment Online - payable after the first year.
  4. @Mjanesuk seems you have the 'classic' SEL FE issues! The key fob battery is what it is. Batteries on both need changing, there is another thread on here with extensive comment. IIRC seems it's more time based than battery level based, and both keys need doing even if one is hardly ever used. As for the other three, yep, been there. There is a fix available, get to a good Škoda dealer to get it done. The car, as it stands, is non-compliant with UK regulations 'cos it can't display KPH so even if it is out of warranty they should fix it. The KPH/MPH fix on mine also sorted the ACC problem. A tip for the ACC problem, as soon as you notice it start to slow down, just tap the throttle pedal - it over-rides the 'no undertaking' part of it.
  5. I'm not doing very well at this game; missed 30003, 31013, 31313, etc. etc... Must try harder 🙄
  6. Joking aside, I can totally understand a 20mph limit on some urban roads in the cities or towns - roads clogged with parked vehicles, delivery vans etc. and maybe a few of the villages blighted by traffic but as for the rest I tend to agree with Penny Mordant - it's insane.
  7. There is a significant proportion of roads in Wales with a national speed limit but realistically you can't do more than 20mph anyway - they're so narrow or steep or twisty or blocked by wandering sheep (or tourists) or any combination thereof 🤣
  8. Totally understand your frustration. Just a thought, but isn't it a bit harsh to judge Škoda when it's the dealer at fault? Buying from a different outlet could be a much better story, or buying a different brand from the same chain and get the same problem.
  9. I've experienced the Front Assist kicking in unexpectedly a couple of times. Each time, like you, I had noted a potential hazard but concluded there was no risk so carried on, the car clearly thought differently. On each occasion I didn't need to lift off, brake, steer as no 'driver input' was needed. However, in similar circumstances more recently, I have tweaked the steering slightly &/or lifted off slightly and the car Front Assist has not reacted - I assume those small driver inputs were enough to inform the systems that I've seen it, I'm reacting to it, I know what I'm doing.
  10. A couple from last weekend - a trip to N Wales. Stunning 2km of glorious beach at 11.30 on a Sunday morning - you don't get it that quiet in the South of England!
  11. 2026 is plenty soon enough for me; fits with my usual 6 year-ish car replacement cycle and an Octavia estate is the ideal size/style for me too. By then I also hope the charging infrastructure will be in place to suit my journey patterns and assuage my range anxiety. In the meantime I’ll keep enjoying my petrol Octavia. @cheezemonkhai thanks for sharing the link
  12. Welcome to the forum, and your new Octavia. Sounds like a problem with the app, perhaps some corrupt data/configuration file. Try deleting it again but make sure you delete any associated data as well; and I suggest restarting the phone before reinstalling it. Good luck!
  13. Just had a thought about the noise & vibration - could it be the gearbox control unit not recognising it’s in top gear and repeatedly trying to change up? Not a mechanical problem but a s/ware or sensor issue maybe.
  14. Frustrating or what!? Hope they sort it soon, or you find a suitable replacement…
  15. Have they done the bearings yet? I’m curious as to what the vibrations are…
  16. Been there, done that - with a 1GB USB stick - years ago when they cost £100! Thankfully it still worked too. Anyway, as for the key, it will probably click back into place with a bit of pressure around the edge; tricky to do without pressing the buttons though.
  17. Is this an option - buy the extended warranty without the All In ‘extras’ of services, MOTs and roadside assistance. You’d get to use up your current investment, and add in the warranty. Only miss out on the roadside assistance (which I think is AA). https://www.insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty/
  18. Yes, had it on my Mk2 as well. Very useful as you say. Can press and hold the lock button to close them too. As for the moron bit, I'll be one of them 🙄. I stuffed a key in one of those little 'security' pockets inside a rucksack along with wallet etc. only to find the windows opening just as I was about to head off on a 12 mile walk. Lucky I saw them opening.
  19. It's not there in my 2020 build car, nor the loan car I had a couple of years back, but on the 2023 registered loan car I had last month this capability was alive and well. As @Alexsus mentions, it's only in the later build cars with later hardware. I know of no way to enable it on the older vehicles, will try to remember to ask my friendly dealer when I'm next there (taking the wife's CitiGo for service & MOT). I found the map with dials display to be too busy for my liking, preferring the minimal guidance information on the virtual cockpit with full map on the infotainment screen. The ability to change the central speedometer to other information is something I would like to have though.
  20. There is a fix. By that I mean that mine was fixed - almost exactly two years ago (3rd September 2021) after it had been at the dealers for 20 weeks! You may be aware of the long and at times acrimonious KPH/MPH thread in which this was discussed in painful detail. I posted details of the fix applied to my vehicle, which at the time, was a test (as in my car was the first in UK to get it applied). Link below. I was led to believe that the fix would be rolled out to all other early (SEL FE?) vehicles but it would appear not.
  21. That good to hear @PoloPaul; hope 1941 continues to do the biz for you.
  22. @PoloPaul not sure if you can insist or not, sorry. I had prep'd a few [hyped up] arguments ahead of calling but didn't need them. Basically just told them I had the reboots up to four times and ACC issues - but I was ready with, for example, that the loss of satnav functionality in unfamiliar big city rush hour traffic was stressful/confusing/dangerous; after months of ACC working perfectly for it to suddenly and intermittently screw up again was dangerous. Pick a few errors from the list in the TPI and big 'em up if need be (see page 12 of the Infotainment continually restarting threat).
  23. Yes, get your dealer to do it under the warranty. I called mine and said I had a bunch of issues, including the reboots and consequent ACC issues. Was told 'you're not the only one' and they were happy to update to 1941 and provide a loan car. No charge.
  24. Alternatively, just take the car to the dealers to get the faults fixed, especially if it’s under warranty.
  25. A while back ACC was a nightmare, it was fixed through various updates by the dealer under warranty but then an OTA update caused the infotainment system to repeatedly restart. In my car that was the start of another round of ACC misbehaviour; almost as though the reboots caused the car to default back to driving on the right. Since the dealer updated it to v.1941 ACC has been perfect. Mine is a 2020 model which I’ve had for two and a half years - plenty of issues early on but I [just about] hung on till the fixes were developed and applied - so pleased I did! These are great cars, look good, comfortable, economical, spacious, and the 1.5tsi plenty quick enough for me. I guess the VRS would be pretty lively. It’s worth noting that s/ware issues are not unique to Škoda/VAG cars, I know people with Range Rovers, Volvos, BMWs and Mercs each with issues. So if the RS you’re looking at ticks all the other boxes then I’d suggest you go for it.
