  1. Picking my (new to me) car up on Tuesday. It was on 1941 when I checked on the day I put the deposit down so I'm not too fussed if it hasn't been updated to 1969.... When people mention OTA updates of the software is this something that only happens if you have the Skoda Connect thing? Or do all the cars have the ability to update OTA? (Mine is a MY22 vRS). Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but it's the first car I've owned that has had anything like this as my current car is 14 years old so pre-clever updating technology.
  2. It's the petrol vRS so I think it has it as standard? The car is only 2 years old and done 13k miles though.
  3. Well done... You spotted my deliberate typo mistake to make sure you were taking notice. 😁 Should have read DQ250 not DQ200. (MY11 Superb CR140).
  4. As above..... It's got a timing chain so doesn't need a service for that..... And if you leave the DSG for the full 80,000 miles then you're possibly asking for expensive DSG problems.
  5. You guys using the Garmin Mini 2 so as to keep all the cabling on the same side..... How do find the night vision on it? I do a lot of night driving both lit and unlit so if it's good in those conditions I might upgrade my existing cam.
  6. I'll be waiting a long time then as I've since found it's a timing chain so doesn't need any service interval. And it looks to be the general consensus that leaving the DSG service till the car possibly tells you is at your own risk too. 😉 (and as owners manuals are generic to a model I've never seen mention in any of my previous VAG owners manuals that state whether a car has a timing belt or chain either) Yep I've just found out the same on another group I'm on. Chain rather than belt (I thought it was chain but had seen something online that said belt so it threw me somewhat) and it's the DQ381 so 80,000 miles with no mention of a time.... My current DSG (DQ200) on the Superb is 4 years / 40,000 miles so I'm going to just stick with what I'm used to although I'll stretch it slightly to between 4 and 5 years if it means tying it in with an annual service etc.....
  7. Just a couple of quickies regarding the petrol vRS DSG.... (MY22 car) Is it a timing belt or chain? (If it's a belt i'm assuming it's every 5 years like others?) And what's the service interval for the DSG? (My current DSG is 4 years/40,000 miles).
  8. A little less leg room in the back seats but there's rarely ever more than my son in the back. Boot wise it's not too different obviously a little smaller but not too much IMO.
  9. I've just bought a January '22 registered vRS which doesn't have Park Assist. Just front/rear parking sensors with Manoeuvre Assist? (I'd not even noticed till after i put the deposit down and had looked at the online images again). Having had Park Assist in my Superb II for the last ten years i'm not too fussed about the loss of it in this new car as i only used it maybe once or twice a year at most.
  10. I checked it whilst I was there. It's on 1941 but sat-nav maps are from 2022 so have asked for them to be updated to latest version....November 2023 I believe. It'll also be having it's Approved Used multi-point checks done before i collect too so anything else should be picked up then.
  11. Yesterday I finally bought the replacement for my Elegance. I've had it since 2014 and other than a failed EGR unit just after I bought it that was replaced under the approved used warranty and a broken rear spring a few years ago it's not given me any aggro at all and has been a great car to own. I travelled down to the South Coast yesterday and put the deposit down on an Approved Used January 2022 petrol Octavia vRS hatch in Race Blue which I'll be going down to collect in a couple of weeks. So I'll be giving the Superb a final clean and tidy out ready to sell it on in the coming weeks. The old...... And the new.....
  12. Morning all, After a couple of months of looking and narrowing down various makes and models to replace my Superb II Elegance I finally joined the Mk4 Octy club yesterday when I travelled down to Eastbourne from Sheffield (I work for the railway so it was a free day out) and bought an Approved Used January 2022 Race Blue petrol vRS. The car was owned local to that area, It's in lovely condition has done 13k miles and has the Winter Pack+ and tri-zone climate options. We're away on holiday next week so will be travelling down again in a couple of weeks to drive it back home. Looking forward to enjoying the new car and using this section of the forum for the first time.
  13. Is there anywhere within the rear light housings that a small bag of silica gel could be placed without it being able to move around or be seen from outside? Just wondering if this would draw the moisture into it rather than it condensing on the inside surfaces?
  14. MY23 (Manufacture Year 2023) so vehicles that are produced from the summer of 2022 and were usually delivered to customers from the autumn of 2022.
  15. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but does the Winter Pack also give heated rear seats or was that a separate option? Also glad I found this thread as I was wanting to know if the heated screen had visible thin wiggly elements like they used to have as doing lots of night driving the streaking to lights coming the other way really, really bugs me and has always put me off having a heated screen in any of my previous cars.
  16. Yep something i'd thought of myself. I'll be asking for someone to message me a photo of the info screen to confirm if the dealership is a distance away.
  17. That's what i was thinking regarding software.... As i'm only looking at Skoda Approved Used if the car's software isn't up to date i'll be wanting it updated to the latest release (1941 or possibly 1969 by the time of the sale) so that won't be an issue. It does appear that the only change to spec is the virtual cockpit though touch wood.
  18. The budget i have is giving me cars up to 71 plates with the odd 22 plate. I'm well aware of the Infotainment software issues as i was looking at Formentors and Golfs as well as the vRS untill narrowing it down to the vRS. Any car I buy i'll be wanting the software to be updated before collection as part of the deal if it isn't already up to date, (I'm only looking at Skoda Approved Used rather than the general second hand market), so there shouldn't be any issues there as it will be on the same software as a car a few months old anyway. I was more interested in hardware changes like the virtual cockpit etc.... (And like the Powered tailgate on the Formentor that i mentioned).
  19. ****Edit**** sorry misread it and thought you’d said Europe not EU hence why mine is still working. 🤦🏼‍♂️
  20. Well it would seem that the spec looks to have pretty much stayed the same throughout then.... The only change I've come across myself is the change to the virtual cockpit screen which was changed on the MY23 cars?
  21. Glad you got it sorted in the end. They are notoriously temperamental with the discs you use and the speed they are written at. You have to use good quality discs and make sure you write to them at the slowest speed possible to give the best chance of success.
  22. Cheers again that's handy to know. I must admit i have started a new thread in this section yesterday asking if there have been any changes to the vRS spec over the last 3 years or so to see if anything has gone from being standard to option or vice versa or if things have been removed altogether or added etc..... but as yet it's not had any replies. (When i was looking at the Cupra Formentor recently the big one i remember with the spec i was looking at was the powered tailgate was standard for the first 6-12 months before being made an option after that).
  23. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions it's much appreciated. It's been 10 years since i got my Superb so a long time since i was in this situation of car hunting and constantly thinking of new questions to answer. When you say a new virtual cockpit unit was introduced last year does that mean the units previously were unable to display the sat-nav map between the dials? I only ask as i was sure whilst looking at used cars online i'd seen cars older than 2023 with the sat-nav display on the cockpit screen between the dials..... Or am i getting the wrong end of the stick.
