  1. I’m not 100% but I think you are better with CD-R rather than CD-RW as the units can be a bit picky on what media they like. And make sure you have the correct firmware version for your unit to burn to the CD-R as different age units will run different versions of FW.
  2. I’m looking at getting an approved used vRS and wondered if there had been any changes in spec level since 2021? Have there been any things that used to be standard on earlier models that were changed to options on later cars? And vice verse….. Anything that became standard on later cars? Just wanting to know if it could sway my decision on what age of car to look at.
  3. I know but it’s 2 years as standard on the other marques whether you take finance or not. 😉👍🏼 Not bothered about getting finance when I can get a personal loan at half the amount of interest with my bank.
  4. As well as software not being covered there’s also (In my opinion) the more important thing of it still only being a 1 year warranty when Seat, Cupra and VW have all now gone to two years approved used warranty and roadside.
  5. I meant if the SOS unit required replacing would it not be covered under the approved used warranty not just can it be replaced for no reason. 😉
  6. Would the SOS module not be replaced under the Approved Used Warranty?
  7. I may be being slightly conservative on those figures…. Probably more like high 50s/touching 60 and high 40s in reality. The car was part of the dieselgate issue but has never had the fix applied. What you have to bear in mind though is the difference in altitude/height between the two locations. (Sea level at work and 400ft+ above sea level where I live on the edge of the Woodhead Moors) so my real world figures will never be anything like published figures.
  8. As mentioned earlier I get mid 50s going to work and mid to high 40s coming home. The difference is nothing to do with speeds I’m travelling at (usually 60-70mph but currently around a third of it is at 50mph a to roadworks) but is to do with the fact my workplace is at sea level and my home is over 400ft above sea level so the car is working harder in general when travelling home.
  9. I've answered my own question....... https://www.skoda-auto.com/world/range-driving-modes
  10. Cheers. I thought it did but just wanted to double check. 👍🏼
  11. (Before ditching the idea because of a few quality issues) I was recently looking at the Cupra Formentor and Cupra/Seat have also had v1969 for a good month or two now.
  12. Does the mirror dip only work if you have electric seats or can it be set with the normal seats in a vRS? Or can it be added via OBDEleven whether you have electric or manual seats?
  13. Cheers for that. What does eco mode actually do to the car? Is there something out there that explains what each mode changes on the car/engine?
  14. I notice that there is currently a split with the VAG companies' Approved Used benefits with Seat, Cupra and VW all now offering 2 years warranty and 2 years roadside assist with every Approved Used car but Audi and Skoda still only offering 1 year of each. (Although with Skoda when using PCP to buy the car you then get the second year warranty and roadside). So looks like we're getting a bum deal when it come to buying approved used. 🙄
  15. You need to use a CD-R for the firmware not a DVD. If you post on that thread I’m sure one of the other guys who helped myself will help you out. My unit had also got to the stage where it wasn’t booting at all but you have to use a particular set of buttons pressed together to get the unit to stop trying to boot and to update the firmware instead. (This is different to the buttons you can press together to reboot the unit manually). 👍🏼
  16. I don’t have driving modes on the Superb as it’s a Superb II. That’s why I was asking as it’ll be the first car I’ve had that has driving modes so no idea what difference the eco mode makes when using it. 😉👍🏼
  17. I had this same issue at the end of last year and a reinstall of the firmware sorted it. A fellow member supplied me with the file and I burnt it to a CD and installed. If you search for the “Columbus Sales & Repair” thread you should get someone along to help you out. (Bear in mind the creator of that thread is no longer a member but someone else should be able to help you once you post a reply on that thread).
  18. So on my steady runs to and from work along the motorway would the Eco mode make any difference/improvement to mpg? My commute is around 25 miles each way with around 23 miles of it on the motorway and only 2 or less miles urban. The amount of cameras on my section of motorway means I’m happy to toddle along on my commutes and leave the having fun and Sport mode to my days off. 😁
  19. Well after 10 years of owning the car the time has finally come to replace the Superb in the coming months. With the car being on the old side now (13 years old now) I wondered what the market was like for them at the present time. Are people still interested in them these days or does it depend on condition etc.... Mine's a nice example having only done 90,000 miles and having a couple of options fitted but wondering how much of a pain it's going to be to sell if i decide any trade-in offer is silly low.
  20. Has there been anything said by VAG in regard what the projected support life is going to be for the current Infotainment system fitted in the likes of the current Octy, VWs, Seats & Cupras etc...... I ask as usually the support for HUs is commonly ended after around 10 years but with the new style unit having the only controls for things like climate control, De-misting, Driving Mode selection etc..... It would cause significant issues if the screen fails for whatever reason leaving the owner unable to clear the windscreen even. Currently if your HU fails all you lose is your radio, and possibly sat-nav and parking sensor imaging so not so much an issue and can be replaced with a 3rd party unit etc..... You have to assume / hope that this new system will be supported for a longer period of time than has been before with it now being a more important / significant part of the car.
  21. I'm thinking more of how the bolsters and seat material stand up to regular use.
  22. My trips along the motorway to and from work are all nice and steady 60-70mph driving so I suspect i may be likely to get mid 40s mpg on average then..... Which isn't too bad if including the slight savings in fuel cost with petrol.
  23. Having recently been taking an interest in the Cupra Formentor i joined some other forums and Facebook groups. Cupra/Seat have just released v1969 software for the Infotainment system in their vehicles but i know they have had a lot of issues with it and the fact that absolutely everything is done via it (with no physical buttons/dials for anything) possibly means their system runs different software to that of the Skoda unit with its few controls that are still controlled from buttons under the unit in the Octy.
  24. Could any of you petrol vRS owners give some real world feedback on mpg when on steady motorway runs? Looking at possibly getting a vRS and wondered what the petrol was like on motorway runs as of my 8,000 or so miles a year around 80-85% of it is steady 25 mile motorway runs to and from work. My current CR140 Superb gets around 55mpg going to work and high 40s mpg coming back (I live around 400ft higher than my work location hence the difference in each direction). If i use the mrs' 1.0TSi Fabia on a few runs to my work i get around 400 miles for the tank if that's any type of comparison?
  25. Looking to replace my Superb in the coming months. I had been looking at Cupra Formentors and thought i was going to get one but found out this last week that there are common issues with the leather creasing/pulling/folding on the base and bolsters even after a few months so have been put off the Cupra. I'm wondering what the front seats are like in the vRS longevity and wear & tear wise? I'm looking at getting a 1-2 year old car and plan on keeping it for around 7-8 years when i plan to retire hence me asking. Do the side bolsters stand up to everyday use etc.... and is the material used nice and hard wearing? I do about 8,000 miles a year and they are mostly motorway miles on my commute so not gonna be piling on the miles or be getting in and out more than average etc.... Cheers
