Talex/Novus Database Discussion

Featured Replies

All's gone quiet. Does this mean we're all satisfied with Talex or have given up?

Personally, I still find the Talex to be the most technically satisfying speed cam detector - spoken warnings, directional etc. But I've now relegated it to an accurate daytime speedo and night warning for fixed cams.

Concerns over database inaccuracies and cost put me off renewing my subscription. How do others feel?

Hi,

I've been having a few problems with my old style talex.

Back in July it stoped updating. Contacted Sally and got that sorted.

But the updates stayed the same for months.

On 26th July web page said version 1068, but my talex gave a check number of 1044, the number of bytes was 3383400.

This remaind unchange untill 9th october when it gave a check number of 1052, and number of bytes 3378712.

I have not tried updateing since then, but will try again before my next sub payment is due 15th November.

if it still has a problem I will cancel my direct debit with the bank and look for somthing better.

hi

you can no longer update your talex on the novus site, say for legal reasons,

i have been updating my talex on the novus site for above 18 months, looks like the talex going in the bin,

less anyone knows any other way of updating without paying a subscription.

cattturbo

looks like the talex going in the bin,

Disappointing isn't it? Have a look here for a possible alternative from Inforad.

i wonder if the update will still work, perhaps they have to say this to cover themselves?

I tried to update my Talex via Novus as I have done for a few years now. Firstly, this time I had to create an account and enter the serial no. so I entered it as a Novus Delta with the Talex serial and it seemed to accept this. But when I try and update it comes back with a comms error :(

Anyone still managing to update a Talex via Novus?
