I'd be happy to take you round the ring, went before in the mk1, now need another sticker for the mk2...

I always use the northern route, ie get out of France as quickly as possible and through Brussels ringroad, then through Rhineland.

Billy

Hmmm sounds a plan!

3. how long we going for? - I recommend 8 days at least - including travel which takes up 2 complete days at least.

4. other attractions like driving down steps (tigger lol) - Hmmm, tough one. With so many, organising a group night out is tough, but shall be attempted. Often better results are had from splitting out into mini-groups and finding your own places to eat in Prague. :)

5. are we going in one huge group or in split groups of 5, less noticable to the rozzers (unless youre chris who this year will be an even brighter here i am officer) - Convoy details will basically be "MAKE YOUR OWN WAY THERE" - Everyone should have sat-nav as a matter of course. Strict convoys will not be done as it's nigh on impossible. Groups will form / split up after every rest-stop. :)

How long did we go for last time? I wouldn't want to go for less time than that - it takes so long to get there that you may as well make the most of it. The last trip definately wasn't too long, there was just enough time to get in all the organised trips and also have a scout round ourselves.

I think if at all possible we should go back to the restaurant we went to as a group last time, the one that looked a bit like a ship inside lol! This time I will try to get less p!ssed and spent more time eating food lol. I remember it being very nice in there.

As for travelling arrangements, smaller groups are definately better. Last year there was just two cars in our group and that worked fine! I certainly wont be in a group being led by a map next time! The first year wasn't too bad because there was only 6 cars anyway.

i agree about the time, you dont want to be there on a shotgun tour but you dont want to be there to long to where you get bored.

I'll be liasing with the CZ guys in the new year. First job before doing anything AT ALL is to get the dates of the Doksy meet. The whole trip is in existence really to go to that day-out. :) The other days are just bonuses to do whatever.

I disagree there tbh Jason. The first trip was to go to the factory, the meet was just a coincidence. I get bored after a hour of wandering round the meet.

Don't mind swmbo's lara croft lid do you? Has a blue mirrored visor too.... (Used to have a Ducati 748R)

Billy

2nd trip was entirely based around the Doksy meet times - first one was just good timing that we found out about the show after having made all other arrangements. :D Third one will also be based around it, but with at least 5 other clear days to do other stuff as people feel they want to.

That's exactly what SWMBO said. I'm up for Dosky again, but imagine Wibble will be shopping for the day.

More days not driving would be good.. having to drive somewhere early doors the next day really put a dampener on the evening before :(

Yes, because it happens to be on, as it was the first time. Steve didn't think 'oh, thers a cz skoda meet, I'll arrange a trip'. The trip would have happened whether there was a meet or not. It may well have happened twice, and indeed three times without said meet. For me, Doksy is NOT the reason I'm going, although it is one of the events on the trip, which is fair enough. I far from agree that the 'whole trip is in existence' for one car meet in a forest which I've been to twice already. The trip is in existence because it is an enjoyable trip and Prague is quite a nice city to explore, as I found out last year. THAT is why I'll be going.

You going to drive there? lol

Fairy 'nuff.

I think it best really to not bother talking about this until the new year as it's all a little premature.. :)

:iagree:

With the Cz drink driving laws being so strict I hardly dare have more than a pint on the nights. :(

Chances are though, next time, there will be less emphasis on the group outings and the like. Much more of an easy-going, do what the f*** you like you're on holiday, kind of thing. :D It's what I would like anyway.

I have to say though, if I were going to spend 5 or 6 days exploring Prague alone, I would just fly there from Bristol. :o

Options for Mimon runway, Skoda factory & museum, Plzen brewery tour (hopefully) and Doksy show of course, will be available. And yes, the drink drive laws are strict. I still have the mouthpiece from being breathalysed by a motorbike cop in my car.

Couple of nights of much alcohol sounds like it should have a place on the trip :)

But I won't be organising them ;) Too much hassle. Better off just getting a tram into town and see what's going on in Wenceslas Square.

Yeah great plan  What's the fecking point of a 'Briskoda' trip then?

I feel inclined to agree there. Not as if there is a shortage of time to get things organised.

there's always going to be, in a group thing, those that want to do stuff car related every morning, and those that don't. So there'll be the options to do stuff - I know I'll want to personally. But many will want to sightsee/shop, etc (or lie-in and nurse hangovers and not drive anywhere due to being a bit tipsy still ;))

Pack them off to Benidorm then! :P

interesting comments... i did mention on an earlier post that we could run this as two trips one on the week of dorsky and one on the following week or week before as i know some members want to go but dont want to include that part of it and if numbers are great enough then the trip will need to be done in two parts to cope with it.

I personally think it should be done something like day 1 off to skoda day 2 go do what you want (nurse hang overs etc) day 3 airfield day 4 do what you want day 5 some other group tour. day 6 whatever and day 7 leave to come home.

I get bored after a hour of wandering round the meet.

I have to agree there, there is only so long you can spend walking around a wood looking at Czech ch@vs in their modified Skodas of all ages before getting bored (a bit too much like a much smaller trax). Personally if I go I would probably give that part a miss.

Do we have to spend the whole day at Dorksy or can we leave anytime? Just thinking maybe we could go for a bit and then leave and do something else.
