Stage 2 vs Stage 2+

Featured Replies

Well currently the Blue Bullet is in JKM's very capable hands

later today I will hopefully have the graphs to show the following

Stage 2

Stage 2 with turbo outlet pipe fitted

Stage 2 with turbo downpipe fitted

Stage 2+

The first 2 graphs I already have but the other two I will have later today.

Hopefully this thread will then be of some use to people who are wishing to go to Stage2+ but not sure what benefits it will bring.

Watch this space for updates later today :D

Hopefully then people will stop pestering me for graphs :P

2 words Pete

First one starts with F

Second one ends in f

 :P :D

Carl

I'd be more interested in your opinion on the real road when you get on to it rather than the rolling road. Does the increase in torque feel controlled and can the car handle it safely?...and is it really worth the money?

Good times Carl, good times :D:thumbup:

Looking forward to the graphs.

im sure he will be able to do that and after that we can do one better. im moving near carl in septemer, and were going to trial our cars next to each other see what the difference bluefinstage 2 has with revo stage 2+.

especially the in gear acceleration in the mid rev range.

then we can do the same once my fuel pump and bluefin stage 2+ map are on.

There is a downside to it, im bound to shell out for REVO after, i can just feel it coming.

Do you have the fuel pump upgrade Carl?

Can you guys let me know when you're going to do that? I'll bring mine down for the shootout.

Harry_VRS was quite impressed when I took him out in mine, he has the fuel pump and stage 2+ and I don't.

:i am very much looking forward to the graphs though,

hurry up carl.

im going out for an all you can eat chinky now, and im expecting a write up and those graphs to be uploaded by the time im finished. ;):P

yeah he was running the autotech internals for the fuel pump, S3 IC, miltek cat back and stage 2 revo prior to todays additions.

lets start a sweep stake for his projected figures

1- Sy 284bhp 338Ibft

Indeed I was quite impressed I have to say.

When I saw you I had my settings set quite aggressively and I think I was pulling a bit too much timing.

Regardless to that, your car did feel strong. Not sure if it's the illusion of being a passenger rather than the driver as it always seems quicker when taking shotgun.

From my experience, it feels as if I have gained 10-15bhp with Stage 2+, however that could well be the power delivery (holding peak power for longer)

Ok you can all hold your horses :(

Unfortunately the car has a problem :(

At the moment Keith (who spent ages on the car today) can't put a finger on it but there is a problem somewhere with the car. From the Graphs it appears to be a boost leak. However from the Diagnostic Data Logs the N75 Duty cycle says otherwise. The problem seems to be somewhere between 2000 and 4000 RPM

I'll post up the Graphs to show what i mean

Graph 1 - Stage 2, Cat Back Exhaust, Evoms, Autotech Pump, Forge DV

Graph 2 - Stage 2, Cat Back Exhaust, Evoms, Autotech Pump, S3 I/C, DV in KO4 Posn, Neuspeed Turbo Outlet (Approx 5Bhp More & approx 10lb/ft more Also note the Torque at 2000rpm is now 30lb/ft higher)

BLU.jpg

Graph 3 - Stage 2 (mods as graph 2 plus Down Pipe ( 0.2Bhp More :mad: 10-15lb/ft LESS :mad::mad:)

CARL.jpg

Graph 4 - Stage 2 + (7 Bhp More  10-15lb/ft less  and torque way to far up rev range  )

CARLs.jpg

Anyone see the problem????

I've done some logging runs for Keith tonight on the way home. Hopefully this will shed some light on the problem.

But basically i gained 7ish BHP and LOST 15-20lb/ft of torque :mad:

Hardly a pinhole in the DV?

  • Author

Not checked the DV yet but as it's in the KO4 position i'd be surprised.

Tomorrow im going to check the following

EVOMS (full system from filter to Turbo)

DV from EVOMS Branch to DV itself including all piping and blanking plate on turbo

Turbo Outlet Pipe

Anyone got any other places for a boost leak?

Carl:thumbup:

I saw suggestions on another site about someone else with problems about the torque coming in later up the range. One suggested a pinhole in the DV making it longer for boost to build up eventually overcoming the pinhole.

Bit of a bummer that Carl. :(

Hopefully it is something fairly simply and you are back up and running very soon.

Keep us up to date.

Will be the first thing i check tomorrow.

May even get a new DV and put that on to see what happens

Dont think a pinhole would make that much of a difference though would it?

No idea but i know a tear does alright

think i have mind handy if you want to try , gizza bell and let me know.

If you go for a new DV then try the D revision.

  • Author

Will do

Does anyone have the part number for the rev D version handy? I spoke to my friendly neighbourhood dealer this week and basically concluded it would be easier just to get it myself :)

Off topic, but interesting none the less - they wanted £80 (= 1 hours labour) to bolt a new DV on at the same time as doing my service

Oh dear mate, that's a shame. Hopefully your logging on the way home will help to diagnose the issue.

Good luck

Steve

thredders mate, thats crap.

basically then your car was fine until the mods were installed, which is strange.

Inititialy i would have asked if your forge DV required servicing, but as it was ok prior to the downpipe being fitted i dont think that would be it. Also with the forge being a piston operated DV you shouldnt get a pinhole or tear should you???? cheap option to replace with the D revision for 40 quid and trial it, and if its not the problem either sell it on or sell your forge DV.

Also adding the downpipe and cat surely wouldnt increase the boost that much anyway. cant think of anywhere else a boost leak would occur maybe intercooler pipes.

other options could be a corrupt remap maybe or ECU issue. or are you having an issue with the Autotech fuel pump internals not working at full capacity. you said there were instances of the autotech internals not working correctly??

what is the N75 duty cycle out interest ive heard about a few times, but not sure what it is?

good luck finding the fault, hope it gets sorted out
