Cars you don't see on the roads any more

Atoz is a piece of crap. Plenty around still though. I was offered one with a dodgy gearbox for £100 but declined

My old landlord used to have a Subaru XT. Very very odd looking car. I have only ever seen one other.

As much as that, a total rip off, no wonder you turned it down!

Actually the Atoz may have been unique from a transmission aspect, it was available as a semi auto - no sequential fore & aft shift change and certainly no flappy paddles. It was clutch pedal less but with the normal manual type H pattern shift - plus there was no full auto mode. Cannot think of another semi auto like that?

I've driven an old Merc A-Class with that setup...very strange.

Saw a remarkably clean Renault 19 the other day :rotz:

Didnt saab do a clutchless manual/semi auto 93 like that?:squint::tired:

Not so much 'endangered' as just rare, but I saw a Renault Spider yesterday. Was the nancy-boy version with a windscreen, though... :thumbdwn:

Although I am a Ford fan quite a few of those been mentioned already (you never see any mk4 XR3i, let alone the XR3's anymore) you don't see many Vauxhalls these days, i.e. mk1 cavalier SRi's, Astra Mk1 GTE or Mi 16's, AX GT...

Think we've had most of the cars mentioned above over the last few years! (21 turbo, 5 turbo, montego turbo, capri laser, Renault 19 16v etc etc)

Zoe

I saw an original Fiesta Supersport the other day, lovely looking car:)

My Dad had an Allagro Estate…..oh the shame.

In fact he had great taste in cars

Allegro

Talbot Horizon

Talbot Solora

Skoda Fabia…………oh hang on a mo, that one wasn’t too bad

hey whats wrong with the talbot solara:eek: my dad had one as he worked for talbot in coventry - ok fair point it was crap and rusted quicker than an alfa:D

A true design icon... I give you the Nova Saloon

Not an SRi I know but I did see a really clean cavalier CDi today on an A reg !!!!!!

Not a car as such but an early 1980's Escort MKIII van with period 'go faster' strips passed me going the other way on the A64 today.

Don’t tell anybody, but I quite liked the Tagora when I was young :o

Simca had a clutchless gearbox. Porsche as well! Porsche Sportomatic (IIRC)

VW, NSU RO80 and how about the old Hondamatics.

And Valeo is still making a conversion kit to make a car clutchless.

Talbot & Simca? Of course , the Matra/Talbot Rancho, now theres a car I havent seen in years. Quite liked them at the time :o

There's what looks like an SRi in the works car park right now. E reg.

Well Hyundai have never exactly been trail blazers with innovation, although their current range is at least a big step in the right direction and with good warranty.

There is an 3 wheeler Isetta bubble car not far from me, thought BMW were thinking of resurrecting that name again.

And the Citroen "C-matic" transmission, in lots of DSs and some CXs.

X-90's? Common as muck here  at least 2 to every corsa :P

I guess its a matter of opinion on what you consider rare, must just be me that thinks they aren't that rare. Or Im in some sort of delusion. :D

*sits at the lonely table* lol

I'm using "rare" in this context to mean "any car I regularly see the same 1 or 2 examples of in about the same places, but rarely to never see other examples of". I'm prepared to accept that there can be a regional skew on this.

Like how on one trip down the M6 I saw something like 8 Nissan Skyline R34s in Cheshire. I'm certain the results of that trip were skewed more than somewhat by being near a Skyline specialist.

Get really nostalgic about 80s stuff saw that drama about Clive Sinclair and his ex employee (Acorn computer guy forget his name) is shown driving an immaculate mark 1 Fiesta XR2. A guy I taught with in the summer has a beautiful 89 Mark 2 Fiesta 1.4 Ghia in gold: surprisingly Quick! Have't seen a240 Volvo in years, Rancho Matra, Ford Granada Three box. there are loads. Just wish 80s stuff was as treasured as the 60s stuff. However have bought a load of 80s editions of CAR Magazine for a nostalgia fest.

Check out Micromen BBC 4 on iplayer for a great 80s throwback even if the guy who plays Sinclair looks nothing like him!

An elderly neighbour on my street had a real minter of a Nova saloon, he changed it for a Corsa a number of years back.

Whats a Fiesta supersport?

Whats a Fiesta supersport?

A tarted up Fiesta with RS style wheels stripes, and tartan seats, and only a 1.3 engine.

Don't you just love the description of the "climate control pack" - tinted windows, windscreen band, and opening quarterlights !

Seeing as its getting nostalgic on this thread here's a pair of Fords from the early 1960's

The Consul Classic & Capri (the original). Well before their time, love the whitewall tyres and believe is was a first for double headlights each side. .

You have to be of a certain age to recall this pair though.

Know of someone with a locked away Classic, it only makes an appearance in suitable weather conditions.

Love it but it would have to be a Mk1 XR2 for me:thumbup: Push button LW/MW/VHF radio whooo! Shows how far we have come. Been watching that series where they took a family back to the 70s and the 80s and it is surprising how primitive things were, didn't realise how much so:

More I miss: Renault Fuego, Montego and Maesto (when did you last see one), Nissan Silvia 1.8 GT Turbo, Nissan Laurel, Opel Manta etc could go on and on!!!
