What did you do to your Skoda today?

Replaced a blown dipped beam headlight bulb.

After fiddling about for 20 minutes in the rain (and I knew how to do it thanks to this site) I realised why you see so many cars driven with only one working headlight. :wall:

Halfords do it for you... Makes it much easier...

! have only 3 things to say about that comment:

1. They charge £7 on top of the price of the bulb.

2. I wouln't let the retarded gibbons they employ as "fitters" within 100 yds of any vehicle I own.

3. For suggesting such a thing I am contacting the Forum Admins to see about having you permanently banned.

Halfords in Redhill charge £3.99 for fitting a bulb near, not that i've ever asked them to fit one but that's the price they quoted when they've asked me in the past.

They also charged me that much for fitting my handsfree and didn't charge me at all for fitting the stereo, even though it should have been £25.

It's £6.99 for headlight bulbs, the £3.99 is for for tail / brake / indicator bulbs.

An even bigger rip-off - fitting rear bulbs to most cars takes about 90 seconds.

Haha, yes but you don't spend 20 mins in the cold... My girlfriend is one of these "retarded gibbons" you speak of, and knows more about cars than most blokes I know...

Fitted a connex2 aux in kit so I can listen to decent music on my huge commute. Many thanks to

chr1staylor

for the kit and the superb instructions that even a dunce like me could follow. Then siliconed the rear quarterlights hoping to cut wind noise and finally added a cover to the rear seat to stop the kids getting it grubby after rugby.

All in all the most I've done to a car in one day for ages, christmas time off is great!

Tidied up the cable to the drive recorder so my dash is no longer covered in black spaghetti. Managed to remove and refit the A-pillar trim without (knowingly) breaking anything :whew:

Not entirely today but in the last few days I've:

- fitted new official vRS mats, getting rid of the horrible generic Halfords jobbies I had to abuse with a pair of scissors to make them fit properly which were only meant to be a cheap temporary solution... and lasted 2 years!

- fixed the passenger door seal which got pulled off two of its little 'pegs' last winter when the car froze and opening the door left part of the seal stuck to the car!

- abused it (its what estates are for!) by filling the boot up for rubbish from xmas and a load of wood/cardboard thats been cluttering up my workshop for ages and taking it to the tip

Desperately want to get it cleaned but its been heaving down for over a week now!

Been to various scrap yards and got what I needed from a Sharan...

Fitted the lights that go in the rear grab handles. I'll get a pic tomorrow, when I refit the pair I have painted black...

I've got some sitting at home waiting for me to grow a set and fit them. :D

I'd be interested to see these and find out where you got the wiring from.

Wiring I went to a scrappy and cut off the connectors, a bit of spare wiring I had lying about connected it to the interior light.

Going to have a play tomorrow to see if I can get them to turn on/off with the main interior light next...

I also cut a part of the roof lining to work out where to cut mine... Proper nail biting moment that... Worth getting the metal bits that attach to the roof lining if you do the same, reinforces the roof lining at least...
