What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Looked at it & decided it needed cleaning. Then thought about the weather, the state of the roads and the likelihood of it being just as mucky by the end of the day anyhow.

Made some beer instead

Update: Glad I didn't bother - flooded roads on the trip out this afternoon and the car is filthy.

Did exactly the same. Except I drank some cider and watched a dvd.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Also fitted a connects 2 aux input thingy this morning and LED numberplate bulbs

Paid off the last instalment of the loan. WooHoo, it's really ours now.

Ah yes the best feeling that is after a long old haul.

Had oil & filter and fuel filter change today :)

Chopped it in for....

Another Octavia.

Just waiting for it to be serviced and get a new cambelt and some tyres with tread. Hopefully pick it up next Tuesday.

Looked at it out of the window to make sure it was still there...

Then went back to bed.

Fitted the Nightbreaker Plus bulbs last night - much improvement over standard. Time to test the reliability.

brimmed the tank, fitted a headlight bulb and topped up the washer bottle

3 warning lights now gone :)

Got it pigging filthy in this foggy mucky freezing weather. Due a good wash tomorrow.

Picked up my Skoda (my first) from the dealers. Magic Black Octavia Elegance 2.00 TDi DGS Leather seats 17" alloys and I splashed out (quite a lot) on a Kenwood DAB/Nav headset. Coming from an X-type Jag (too expensive to run) it should have been a compromise in a lot of ways but so far cannot find many. No electric folding mirrors and no bonnet gas struts. No big deal. Sound system does not compare for audio quality but its not bad and I now have DAB and almost infinite music storage on SD micro disk. So I loaded 20 plus albums lot less faff than the 6xCD changer on the Jag.

So today I drove it; so far I prefer the handling to the Jag, more nimble and at least as comfortable which is saying a lot. Wife says it is more comfortable and it seems to have at least as much passenger/boot space.

Thanks to Lee at my local dealer Preston Motors for finding the car and getting it on the road for me; with the headset change etc in less than 14 days.

Had 4 new tyres fitted on my Felicia today. Had the Rapid exhaust taken away for welding. And drove the Octavia for the first time this week.

Collected my new set of alloys, so for now I have 13 wheels.

Just need the new car to put the news wheels on.

Czeched oil level and topped with 0.5 litre of 5W-30 Longlife III, checked coolant level, checked and topped windscreen washer fluid. Washed car down (yes it was bloody cold, but the car was really dirty) checked tyre pressures and pumped up as required. Cleaned out interior.

Removed front strut brace, checked all the wiring was fine and refitted strut brace.

Tomorrow i'll check the abs sensor.

drove it to 2 scrap yards in search of the next mod ;)

Been busy today.

Firstly did the elephant ccv mod, then sealed up the leaking rear doors, installed new battery and earth lead. Then had a look at the passenger seatbelt which is incredibly slow to retract, decided that was knackered so put tools away and had dinner. Off to scrap yard in morning for new seatbelt.

Did the elephant ccv mod and then gave the fab vrs an almighty good clean!! Engine bay too

Hoovered out that's all. Too cold to wash it.

Fitted my winter tyres

Washed out, drove it for about 20miles and now its filthy again... Damn salty roads...
