  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Missed a speed bump and drove over it a tad too fast. On a better note, the driver side seat heater started working again.

Drove it to Blackburn, got rained on, drove home again.

Adjusted passenger side windscreen wiper so it doesn't whack window gutter at bottom.

Removed front left wheel to check for slow puncture... no discernable leak, I'll have to live with it.

After requiring a 5' metal pole on the wheel wrench to slacken the bolts, I removed the right wheel also so at least now I know should I need to on a dark, wet and windy night I'll be able to change a flat.

Not long had the car and this was the first time I've had fronts off, bleedin bozos using air gun to rattle on bolts over torque.

Checked alarm and air conditioning/radiator fans functioned.

With engine up to temp and ambient temperature at 4C it took a couple of minutes for the heat exchanger to warm up and both small and large fans started slow (quiet) running.

I'm planning on fitting a diy guard of sorts to protect the a/c heat exchanger, it's already taken a beating with previous owners and I'd like to prolong its life.

I was going to jack her ass up to check rear suspension bushes... knocking on bumps may explain a worn inside shoulder on one of the tyres.

Addressing a couple of duff rear parking sensors was also on the agenda but I ran out of enthusiasm with the icy wind... another day :-)

Replacement rear shock fitted. Also opened a package containing things with Forge and Eibach written on them :)

Front break pads replaced today and 2 new tyres ordered for the fronts ahead of the "bad weather", they will be fitted in the morning.

Evergreen tyres in case anyone's interested, low to mid range and have decent reviews, £55 each.

Changed my front discs and pads tonight at about 10pm in the cold and rain on the roadside haha.

Im ashamed to even mention how bad the old pads were!

My brakes actually work now, they feel so sensitive. Im over the moon :)

Got new rear discs and pads to go on, but going to do those on Saturday as they're not so urgent

Good result then - you can't beat a set of brakes that work can you? :D

Stu and johnno again. Its unreal honestly :P

We're secret lovers really lol :P

You can't! It's a peculiar feeling, pressing the brake pedal and the car actually coming to a stop :p :D ... For me anyway.

New tyres on the front. Pressure and bolt torque incorrect, and a large lump of sticky from the old weights to clean off. The wheel bolts were spun on with a cordless drill, first time I've seen that done. Now going out into the healthy 5 degrees rain to sort things out. :rain:

I believe it :P. Ooh getting an Rline polo monday for my curtousy car when mines in gettin the boot and quarter panel painted :D

Fitted my winter wheels. Bonus is they look decent and because the offset is lower than standard, looks purposeful.

Yo dude is your camera faulty.

Why?

Because there's big spaces where the wheels should be ?

They're still 17". Why would I do anything else in winter? :)

I would have preferred to go to 16" for winter.

I think it's the angle that makes it look like a huge gap. Looks better in real life.

Sold her  :'(

Taxed it!

Fitted an FL climate unit. Then took it out again.

Nearly worked ;)

Why?

Maybe its a special camera that makes things look a bit blueish ..!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think it's just the time of day the photos have been taken, and the camera/phone used has applied quite a blue-tinted colour balance to the shots.

You can have the blue balance removed if you wish....
