What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Got the bodywork repaired today after some tw*t reversed into the rear wheel arch and rear offside door before kindly driving off. Although it's a 56 plate Octavia, it's absolutely mint, so I was well hacked off when I discovered the damage.

I'm pleased to say that they did a cracking job and even a fussy sod like me can't find fault with it.

I couldn't agree more Mike.

I bought the car four years ago from a retired engineer who was as fussy about his cars as I am. The paintwork is more or less flawless, save for the odd stone chip which is to be expected on a car of this age.

The interior is like new and I enjoy keeping it in good order if I'm honest.

As you can imagine, I was far from happy when I discovered the damage when I was washing the car last week. The guy who did the repair even commented on how good it looked for its age and credit to him, he's done a fabulous job. Even a fussy buggah like me can't tell!

He's repaired the rear wheel arch, rear offside door which was also bent and buckled and blown in the three panels.

Here's a photo I took of her last summer after a little cleaning session. Not bad for a 56 plate eh?

(yesterday) 4 Shiny new Firestone Tyres lashed on. €80 a corner, not too bad. way better grip already this morning on way to work in the damp.

also managed to get part numbers for shocks while the car was on the ramps so i can get new set ordered up.

Opened the drivers side rear door to discover that it was leaking. Thought I was lucky enough to avoid this, but I was wrong...

Took it to MSB in Darlington to get some wheel bolts. Said to the guy on the service desk can I have some heel bolts for a Fabia? How many? A full set so 16 and then lock nuts. We don't have any lock nuts we only have the normal ones so we'll have to order the lock nuts in. OK then I'll just take them for now then. Right that'll be £76... you what? £76... na I think I'll go somewhere else thanks. Went to Lookers in Northallerton, How much are your wheel bolts? £4 something per bolts and 60 odd quid for a set of lock nuts. Na, I've been quoted cheaper elsewhere thanks. Went into VASSTech and asked how much, Just over £90 for the lot. Will be picking them up end of next week.

Washed it ready for tomorrow's Yorkshire meet.

Nothing other than booking the Octy in for MOT on Monday...

I did have to put the best part of a litre of Shells finest Helix oil in the Civic this lunchtime though...

Toyed with some Meg's polish i got in the sales at halfords today, finished it off with some MER high gloss wax, quite a nice finish in the end, might take a few more attempts to get those pesky swirl marks out though :dull: .

Just ordered one, thanks :)

Doublepost..

Drilled lots of holes in the black plastics on the front for new lighting to go on. Felt dirty having to drill 10mm holes in my body work.

Took it to a yorkshire meet

Looked at the green blotchiness. Thought about the death-by-a-thousand-papercuts list of things I need to do. Cried softly.

...also thought about at least hosing it off, but then it rained.

Thought about washing it again! Asked SWMBO if she fancied doing it in her bikini so I could take some pics for the forum of how it's done properly. and she told me to :swear: off. Decided I'll do it tomorrow. Probably a drive thru :giggle:

Emptied it and prepared it for trade in on Tues :(

Fitted the LED festoon bulbs, that arrived this morning, in the number plate lights.... Found they triggered the bulb warning so put the originals back in..... Took it to the Yorkshire meet and Simbo disabled the number plate bulb check so then put the LED bulbs back in once I got back home. :)

Yay! Glad that worked, Wavey.

VCDS log on its way to you shortly...

Drove mine to the Post Office meet then drove it home,

@ Simbo. are you going to send me the two scans from My Octavia and Eric the citiGo  Cheers, hope your chips were nice.............................
