Perhaps as well, Johann - manufacturers seem incapable of producing polished/lacquered wheels suitable for the road salty UK market.

VAG must have spent an absolute fortune on warranty wheel (and badge) replacements for 'white worm disease' over recent years and yet they still persist in speccing them :o

Ah... So there is a reason for it! Fair enough. Though you do get Audis with black alloy wheels here...

... and you can spec silver, white or black Alloys on the Fabia vRS.

Seems more like the usual 'Skoda UK is the poor relation to the rest of Europe' to me.

Here in Sweden they put out approximately 200 000 tons of salt on the roads each year, hence the silver winter tires. :'(

It's the 'diamond cut' and lacquered finish that is the most vulnerable - slight nick or imperfection in the lacquer and moisture seeps under the top coat with the inevitable results.

I expect both sets of my Annapurnas will go that way eventually - despite my fastidious care! I'll get them powder coated once the warranty support expires....

Not just VAG products either - neighbour's AM Vantage has similar issues :(

Torarp - wise move!

Very true...

So which models have the wood finish dash trim strip thingy that you see on some website pictures?

Is it an extra?

Anyone got any photos of it on their car?

tom

Yes it is an available extra. I fitted it to my Yeti in about 10 minutes.

Cost was £75, the look is great. Just joined the Briskoda.net not skilled enough to put pictures on yet.

That wood trim suits the light colour interior very well.

wood trim

I thought you had nicked one of my photos, then realised that there were a whole load of buttons missing. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif The Gobi & wood trim look great together I think. better than Gobi & silver trim.

I like the silver on the side molding. Unlike the Skota version your's looks much nicer when attached to the molding and the body.

That IS the Škoda version! The aftermarket ones don't taper down at the front like that. They are just stuck on TOP of the car's existing black mouldings. The Matterhorns and those mouldings are part of the same option pack in Europe (which we don't get in the UK).

Absolutely. Although I would normally say that I hate fake wood, I am really glad I replaced the silver trim that came with my Gobi interior.

Both the above are looking very smart but far to clean for this time of year! :giggle:

I literally cleaned it for the first time today - and decided to take a few snaps in the drive before it gets filthy again 100 yards down the road.
