Cant turn them off

Featured Replies

Dont know if it is a new fitting on the Superb or not, but never noticed it before. There is no "Off" position on the light switch.

When turned fully to the left the switch turns on DRL's built into the front fog lights. Is this something new on the car or has it been there from the start?

If you look at the illustration on page 16 in the manual then turn the ignition on and press button C for a couple seconds you will see displayed in the maxidot, MFD, AUDIO, SET UP scroll down to Set up with the wheel D then press on the wheel D and on that menu scroll down to Lights and Vision and press down on the wheel D again. Job done

As I dont own a Superb or have a manual I was not aware of it  . But has it been a feature of the Superb since it was launched or is it new?

I wonder if they can be set to stay on while the main lights are on?

I have an S-spec with no maxidot. The DLR's can be switched on and off at will by using a combination of the indicator stalk and the ignition. It was all fully explained in the manual. It's nothing to do with the foglights. Instead the dipped lights run at 60% of capacity.

There is also an option in the maxidot menu to turn them on and off. The DRLs on the superb are the headlights rather than fogs

This is my point, the DRL's on the last Superb I looked at are in the fogs, start the car and there are lights come on inside the fogs, not in the headlights. There are 2 sets of bulbs inside the fogs

Had a look at a new Superb in the dealers today, and there seems to be 3 bulbs inside the fog light units, any1 know the function of each of them?

There are indeed 2 bulbs, I believe one functions as a foglight, and the second one is part of the cornering light function.

Maybe they have changed it on the later ones, mine is one of the first registered in the UK 18 months ago.

Cornering function? Wow! How does that work then? Not an option on my s-spec. Is it as useful as parking assist? :dull:

See page 64 in the Manual:

Fog lights with the function “Corner”*

The fog lights with the function “Corner” improve the illumination of

areas close to the vehicle when turning, parking etc.

The fog lights with the function “Corner” are regulated according to the steering

angle or after switching on the turn signal light8) in the following circumstances

• the vehicle is stationary and the engine is running or it moves with a speed of

maximum 40 km/h,

• the daylight driving lights are not switched on,

• the low beam is switched on or the light switch is in the position  and the

intensity of the ambient light causes the low beam to be switched on,

• the fog lights are not switched on,

• no reverse gear is engaged.

Not the best pic in the world, taken on my mobile, but you can clearly make out the 3 bulb system inside

Now all we need is an LED replacement bulb for the DRL bulb and we have a really distinctive front end - especially when combined with xenons.

Anyone know of such a bulb?

Now that would be nice, i have ordered xenons on mine and when it arrives that was going to be one of the first things i went at, after the white led lights for the number plate bay! :p

The DRL light intensity is defined in EU legislation and fitting a bulb outside of these specifications could be deemed to be illegal. They must be 1,200cd in brightness, no more and no less.

The Audi A4/A5 Led DRL's look Mega Bright.... i wonder what they are....

Just to answer the question on the 3 bulbs (if it hasnt been already), I took a look at a showroom superb today and there is only 2 bulbs in the fog light, However the centre reflective chrome refects a mirror image of the outer bulb and it looks as though there is 3!

I do not think you are right, I am sure there are 3 bulbs, look at the picture, how old was the car you were looking at? might be new in the showroom but may well be built for quite a few mths
