Fabia RS official photos and info

Well, I don't like the Mk.2 Fabia. My previous car was a horse. The handling was exceptional and it took fences a lot better than the new Fabia. Plus, I could ride the whole day on a couple of bales of hay. The upholstery is natural leather, which is just as good now as it was when I bought it. And of course, the drivers seat was heated at no extra cost. There are no plasticky bits - only one metal bit. Servicing was always free when I left it in a paddock with a stallion. I must admit, the suspension was a bit stiff, but it was a cabrio after all. And the emissions would probably not meet today's spec, but they could be ploughed back into business.

You drive a 2.0 Fabia, so you have no interest in the Mk2 vRS ........ unless you meet them on the open road, where you can take them ...........like a King!! ;)

Now the actuall show pictures make it look MUCH better!

Once you can see its METALLIC green it sets off the styling alot more!

Love the interior too, I may still be converted when they show up over here..............

Signed:- commited Mk1 owner with an open mind :p

GORDON BENNETT, I can't believe you guys. Do you imagine for one moment that new model Ford Fiesta owners are tearing themselves apart like this??? No, they're not, 'cos they don't care, as long as it goes from A to B. A new Ford Fiesta is a beautiful thing, but is a 'TV dinner'. A Fabia is a restaurant meal that might not occasionally meet your expectation but has an overall worth.

I personally think that the Fabia 2nd gen is a bit too high and narrow compared to my car. Not saying I don't like it but would probably buy the SEAT Ibiza Cupra as don't need the five doors and it is lower and wider which will be great for stability, it also comes with fatter tires. On the plus side the 1.4 twncharge engine and dsg sounds like a good combination, it all depends on the pricing. Figures of £17K (more than the Ibiza: not counting the Boccanegra edition) have been bandied about elsewhere on the site and if that is the case forget it. People bought the orginal VRS as at £12K it was an awful lot of car for the money: At this sort of price though there is just too much competition.

Oh and to those getting upset about Fabia 2 bashing chill out. I still get laughed at by some of the diehard petrolheads on here for sticking up for Diesel engines (you know who you are!). At the end of the day we all have our different views but it's all fairly light hearted. Don't know anyone on here who deliberately flames or goes out of their way to upset people. It's cool you are passionate about your wheels!!

I am basing my opinions on my experiences with my cars.

Mk1 Fabia vRS

Mk2 Octavia vRS 2.0TFSi

Mk2 Octavia PD140 DSG Elegance

Roomster Scout 1.9 TDi

Mk1 Superb L&K V6 TDi

The Roomster shares the interior with the Mk2 Fabia, and whilst it was screwed together well, it was ALL scratchy plastics, like something from Korea. The seats in the Mk1 vRS, though a bugger to keep clean where far more comfy and supportive than the seats in the scout. The styling of the Fabia 2 is tepid, but the vast majority of Fabia's sold are to the pipe and slipper brigade or mum's for shopping wagons so you can see Skoda's reasoning behind it. I remember my Mk1 vRS as having soft touch plastics everywhere and the only bit of cheap nasty scratchy plastic was the glove box lid. the whole dash on my Roomster was itchy and scratchy ching chong bing bong stuff.

Of the skoda's I have owned, the best screwed together in my experience, not just my opinion, is the current Mk1 Superb L&K. Maybe not the best engineered as it's a stretched / rebadged passat B5.5, but it is screwed together exceptionally well and the interior has a solid quality feel without any scratchy plastics on display, even the dash facia is made from alloy instead of plastic (then coated in hideous dark wood :))

The best handling of the cars btw was the Roomster, and my Mk2 vRS had FSD's / Eibachs / neuspeed ARB's and a Peloquin ATB, but my lowered / arb'd roomster handled better.

For me, as a styling exercise the Mk2 Fabia just fails, it's a Suzuki Swift that has been squished in a vice from the sides to make it taller. One thing that I have absolutely now doubt over however is that the Mk2 Fabia vRS will be a far better drive than the mk1, as mentioned, less weight over the nose, 7 speed DSG and a cracking petrol engine. It should be a great little car to drive.

Also to help in my opinions, my father in law declined a fabia 2 in favour of a Fiesta 1.6tdci, he thought the fabia looked tall and ungainly, but my dad recently bought a Fabia 3 1.4TDi and he loves it.......

All horses for courses

A passing comment; Roomster is a very tidy handling and balanced car, even in standard trim, although the ride is a touch jittery. I agree about the seats but this can be sorted by getting/converting to Fabia Sport seats.

Overall; perhaps Skoda will produce a Roomster vRS with the 1.4TFSI - velly interesting?

I enjoy the little snide comments made by mk1 owners usually mk1 Vrs owners. Now my comments are based on the fact that i own a mk2 and that my dad had a mk1 fabia vrs for 4 years. So i reckon i have a certain portion of fair judgment on this. The original mk1 fabia vrs is not the best car in the world like half of you think! Its a horrid looking wedge shape which makes better on the even more boring standard look of the mk1 fabia range. The interior is no were near the level of quality that the mk2 is. Leaking rear doors??? on the mk1? yep fab build quality there. Only lifted by decent seats and a fancy gear knob. I have no idea at all why all the mk2 haters bash the mk2's interior for QUALITY??? and LOOKS??? its absurd. As well as the outside of the car, i have not yet had one person who has looked at my sport to a mk1 vrs and gone yer the vrs looks better. (Granted a white roof with red panels does add to the is it a mini?!?!) The mk2 vrs is so much more than the mk1 vrs will ever be. A stunning powerful smooth torque filled engine. (Plenty of room for more power) A sharp, fast, easy gearbox. An XDS differential as well as other chassis changes. This car standard car to standard car wouldnt just beat the mk1 in every possible situation it would eat it up for breakfast and make it look like the mk1 was standing still. And this is were i can possibly see the haters bringing there heads out. Because yes this car is better than YOUR CAR!! And before theres a million replies saying it costs £££'s more, yes it does and its worth every single one those £'s To own one of these to see the look of dispair when you get blipped at the lights in your mk1's. Now usually I dont bother replying to these type of people. But its a JOKE! You insult all mk2 owners with your harsh comments. This car is not even on British roads! Dont judge it, So. Otherwise you will look like bigger fools than you already do look like!!

I would say 2p But thats more like a Fiver!!

I totally agree with you...OK its not a diesel and the diesel drivers hate that..but as you rightly say the Mk2 is built far better than the Mk 1. This new vRS, whilst not doing it for me, IS a better car already than the Mk1 vRS.

So is that 6.4l/100km or 44mpg an average or the best you will see if you granny it...?? There are a few vids on youtube and it does look too bad.

He genuinely says that the vRS will be available for test driving in May, but delivery of the car , on order, would be at least August to September. :)

These pics seem to show that the Rally Green is less 'glarey' and less bright that the Skoda pics would suggest; I quite like it.

................a short clip of the new vRS in action!

Its growing on me now with the updates BigW pictures :) Front end actually looks good despite my earlier comments, the diffuser though, come on skoda, it's just "plonked" on. 7 Speed DSG though and 180bhp ........... if it handles well it will be rapid hmmmmmmmm .........

Where's Decron? :D

Me too!. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh and having go in one just to see what 180bhp and DSG feels like.

Same here. As soon as it comes out I'm booking a test drive. I've never driven DSG and it's a been a while since I've drive a petrol with a bit of power.

Yea, the last time I had a petrol was an A reg ford fiesta 1.1 emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Ben

Even though I can't get one, even if I wanted one, I'd love one of those! 180bhp, dsg, lighter than a Golf TSi Sport which has 140bhp, and is no slouch. That will be one helluva fun car. No doubt at all.

Not a fan of the green, but other colours will be avaliable. Yet another wolf in sheep's clothing I think.

I reckon that will be giving Golf Gti Mk5's a run for their money! At a much lower price.

Untill you get to a corner.... :giggle:

To some extent Babs you are rght but I'm actually pleased this will be on smaller wheels/tires to the Ibiza and Polo. Yes with big tires you get loads of grip but sometimes you get too much and it's less fun inho. May be a perverse thing buI loved my old Peugeot 106: only had a 1.1 but could dance when you wanted it too and had loads of feel.To that extent it was much more of a drivers car than my VRS

The more I see of it now, the more I want it... :(

The vRS is on 205/40 17s (please correct me if I'm wrong). If these are smaller than the Ibiza/Polo; what are these on then? I can't believe they'd use 18s.
