Fabia RS official photos and info

Featured Replies

Just had a look at the Clio and the cheapest renault sport 200 cup is £16.5K without air con or £17.5K with, both three door. Ibiza is approaching £17K so cant imagine they would price the Fabia more. Got a feeling the the Polo will be getting on for 19k lol given a 1.2 tsi with dsg is close to 16k without options.

Maybe they will suprise us and the Fabia will be £15K list.

I hope you're right but my gut feeling stills says around £17k once you've chosen your wheel colour and added the flappy paddles. ( assuming we'll have to pay extra )

Paddles will be an extra, I would stake my left nut on it.

The thing is, its ok quoting list prices, but the Skoda dealers probably won't discount, but the competition certainly will. My local Vauxhall dealer has Corsa VXR's for £15.8k and that's before haggling or striking a deal, the local renault place has the new shape renaultsport clio for £15.9 again before haggling and that is probably a better "drivers" car. £18.2k for a new CTR at Lookers and a from stock Octavia vRS 2.0T can be had for close to 17k with the right dealer.

£16k fair enough, but then if you have to spec it up with the climatronic air con, upgraded radio so you can have the MDI, Multifunction wheel, electric rear windows, front arm rest etc etc .

I am sure they will sell a few and there may soon be some high spec demo's floating around to test (soon as in maybe August). The Engine is right, the gearbox is right, but we will all have to wait and see on the price.

Skoda spec's have normally been better than their VW stable mates, but they are still not lavishly equipped when compared to some brands (talking Fabia here, not Octy / Superb). Even my mum's Nissan note has Bluetooth hands free, multifunction steering wheel, parking sensors, remote central locking, and a whole host of other toys as standard :)

When I bought my Mk2 Octy vRS, rear electric windows and the jumbo box where extra's, when the Mk1 vRS came with electric windows all round.

Oh and don't forget £410 for metallic paint and £355 for a different coloured roof.

Make it 18k minimum at this rate then

Having read through this whole thread and seen all the pics and specs, I think......

I want one B)

That's 3 cars on my current "next car" list now, looks like I'll be busy with test drives later in the year  I probably won't be able to afford a new one, but a 6month / 1 year old one would be most attractive.

One question though, aimed at anyone with DSG. At the D position, you can move the stick across to the right. Does that give full manual control of shifting? If so, then I would not consider the paddles a necessity. I also assume that "S" is a fully-automatic sport mode yes?

There are 5 ways of changing gear with the DSG gearbox.

1.) Drive

2.) Tiptronic with Paddle shifting

3.) Tiptronic with Shifter

4.) Sport Mode

5.) Temporary Tiptronic in Drive or Sport Mode by pressing paddles (or shifter)

These are explained in these videos :

and

So to answer your question, S (Sport) mode is fully-automatic, but you can temporally over-ride them with the paddles.

I believe so; the gearlever works that way on my Roomster's 'Tiptronic' box; you then push the lever forward to change up and pull back to change down.

I was speaking with the salesmen at my dealer yesterday and they told me, although they haven't got definitive info in writing from SUK, that they were expecting 'paddles shift' to be OE fitment, not an option. Time will tell.

Iv Spoken to 3 dealers and they have all said Paddles are extra?! all the wright ups don't say anything along the lines of standard paddles. lets see how that pans out!!!

Really nice car and everything! but just a shame its a Petrol, Its a DSG. Lets hope they see sense and bring out a 6 speed D B)

It is going to be very interesting what sort of 'deal' Skoda are going to offer to entice buyers away from the Polo GTI and the Ibiza Cupra.

Yes, I think they'll undercut as usual ,but I think by the time you've added the 'extras' such as paddles, choice of roof/wheel colours etc. I've got a feeling the new vRS is going to end up costing just as much as the others!

Skoda......make it worth my while, yes, it looks a cracking little car and I'm very tempted but you've got a lot of persuading to do financially!!

I hope Skoda are not going to start getting carried away with pricing, lets not forget that the Fabia Vrs will start life as a car with a list price of 9k which you can buy for 8k with little effort.

Is anyone else concerned with ride quality/comfort, my Fabia 3 is already riding quite harsh on the standard 16" Rim, and these are even bigger :o

Im guessing the suspension/shocks e.t.c will be setup for the vRS differently

Looks good

Shame it only comes with a DSG :( What was wrong with a manual?

Yes to both questions, though I think in my Octavia you move the stick to the left. Just shows how infequently I use manual shifting!

My hunch is most DSG owners end up rarely using manual mode as it's just too easy and efficient to leave the auto to do the work. However I suspect it might be a differnt story with paddles as you don't have to move a hand from the steering wheel.

S (Sport) position just holds the gear for longer allowing more revs before changing up I understand. Again I rarely use S, not least because I've redlined during kickdown in D, so not sure how many more revs I'd need in practice.

The Polo and Ibiza both start very low as well, as do all hot hatches so thats not an issue really. Why should the Fabia cost less than the SEAT anyway, its not like they have any prestige at all, in fact Skodas of old were better cars than SEATS.

I think the low starting price of the hot hatch is definitely an issue but obviously in general and not specific to Skoda but the Polo and Ibiza are more expensive to start with. I supposet the Fabia Vrs will be priced at a level that Skoda think they can get away with and if more people hold the above view rather than mine then Skoda will be a happy manufacturer.

Well , we haven't got much longer til we find out, have we?

I'm still confident the final price will still end up being similar to the Polo GTI, i.e £18k+ and if that's the case, I may aswell buy a Polo!

Come on Skoda , sort it out! It's no good having a low start price, customers aren't stupid, it's the overall price we're prepared to pay with all the spec. we want! Make us happy chappies!

Im guessing it will be a base price of £15995 in a solid colour with no options.

Even if the list price is near that of the Polo I imagine standard kit will be more impressive on the Fabia as VW/Audi are very stingy with relativley simple stuff like cruise control being optional on some very expensive motors

I imagine the polo will be a lot more expensive, but if the pricing was close to the ibiza id have to take that instead, its on the new platform and looks decent and seat suits the sporting personality more.

They appear to have made an effort, but nowhere near as trendy or cool as the MITO and even some of the french offerings, and thats what these small hot hatches should be all about

Here's a short video of a facelift Fabia on 17in Trinity wheels in Rallye Green with the white roof, should give a bit of an idea what the RS could look like with this combination (the green looks soooo much better in this video than in the press photos of the RS!):

Yes, and the second one is mainly for the Fabia S2000 rally car. :dull:

So will there be diesel and petrol versions of the vRS?

Possibly in the future the 140BHP 2.0 TDI engine may be available but not confirmed.

The rallye green is available on non-RS cars too, the car in the first video I linked to is just a standard facelift Fabia with green paint, white roof and 17in wheels.

It looks like it's been lowered to make it look better. Is that -15mm or standard in the video?
