iPhone 4 and iOS4

Featured Replies

I used to have an invisible shield on a previous Nokia phone. It took ages to apply then after a few weeks the side panels started peeling off. And no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the screen protector on without a couple of bubbles under the film.

Installed an invisishield on the mrs's iphone4 at the weekend, and it went on a treat.

Excellent finish too, with no bubbles etc.

I shall be putting one on mine when I get the iphone4 too.

As regards the 3G running slower with ios4, it seems some do and some dont, mine certainly does :-(

However, try this little tip as it worked for me

Do 2 resets (For those unfamiliar, hold down the home screen and off buttons simultaneously, and keep them held down until it switches off reboots and you see the apple logo, then let go)

Then when it's switched on again, do another reset.

It empties the caches and zaps the memory

It certainly seems to speed things up a bit, on mine it has anyway.

Cheers

Don't you find the Zagg screen protector a bit "grippy" ?

I had the full kit on my old 3Gs and the body protection was brilliant, but the screen protector whilst protective was just to grippy (hard to explain) Switched to a Proporta Screen protector and that was perfect, fingers glided over the screen like it was lubricated :)

Yeah i do find it can feel a bit "tacky" or Sticky but find i have got used to it.

I must say since installing iOS4 on my 3GS the battery life to have improved to the standard I got when doing the "switch off phone while charging" technique before the update.

I took it off charge at 6:30am today and it was still showing 99% at around 10am today.

Cheers

Dave.

I have just got my iPhone 4 now, so far I have to say i am VERY impressed with it over my old 3G 8GB it is so much faster i really was surprised. And so far (without a case) i don't seem to be able to replicate the signal issue

I have just got the Incipio case for it, which simply clips on and is less than 1mm thick! So you dont really lose the form factor, plus i obviously have a screen protector (£1.09) off ebay and went on perfectly!

Oh and i just sold my iPhone 3G 8GB on eBay for £195 result lol

I was very happy with iOS4 on my 3GS, but I think I've found my first fault!

When I connect it to my Octys BT & Columbus, it syncs the Phone book, like it used to; except that all the names are now "gibberish" (all the numbers are there)

Tried all the usual resets, both iPhone & Columbus/BT kit, now i'm just faced with the full factory restore to try!

Well we got are last friday. Well impressed. So much fast than are old 3G's.

Had a little play with the HD video this morning. Not bad for a phone :) 720P at 30fps. Was just over 2GB for 30 minutes. Could come in handy for some incar footage ;)

Interesting one this - I applied IOS4 to my 3GS shortly before selling it and it was easily as nippy as before - didn't keep it long enough to tell about battery life though. BUT, me and my dad recently bought iPod touch's. He got an 8GB and i got a 32GB.....now it turns out the 8GB is effectively a 2G in disguise, and the 32GB runs the same tin as the 3GS.....IOS 4 updates were available for both so we put them on and my god what a difference......his iPod is soooooooo slow now it's almost unusable whereas my iPod is nice and nippy.

Couple of chaps at work have 3G's too and since applying IOS4 they run like dogs despite half the features being disabled like wallpaper and multitasking. Poor show by Apple as for a complany that prides itself on the user experience (it's hardly range of functionality now is it) to ruin it for 3G owners in such an obvious way is poor QC. If they knew it was going to be so poor they should have said it does not run well on the 3G so we're not releasing it. Either that or optimise their code better? It's hardly a huge leap from OS 3.1.3 as far as I can tell so why it runs so much worse is beyond me.
