Wind down windows

Featured Replies

Hi was at the dealership yesterday picking up a radio code and saw a fabia vrs. Thought I would have a look, to small for me but was interested anyway. When glancing in the back I saw horror of horrors wind down windows! Wind down windows on a top range model, thats a bit cheap isnt it.

Who said it was top of the range?

They stopped putting electric windows in the back of Fabias a while ago. Since there is almost never anybody in the back of most vRSes, nobody notices.

Anyway Elise's have wind down windows.

I am a proud furby vRS owner and the wind downs disgusted me also when first viewing it but hey...how gives a cr*p!? I aint sitting there! Pump those weedy arms backseaters!!!! lol

When in the back seat of my fabia the last thing on my mind is the window winders!! :D

You must have really long arms Mike ;)

Suprisingly enough, theres a lot of people who have been in my car and said in a voice of disgust "theres no electric windows at the back"!!!

If they were there I wouldn't mind, but it if meant the price of the car was an extra

By the same token I still can't believe the Octy vrs doesn't come with remote boot opening.

I would have thought the Octy would have it and the Fabia wouldn't.

It does my head in.

RS octavia isn't much different, no map lights \ sunroof etc...

Whether weight or cost was the important factor in specifying these, we'll never know....

The Octy boot unlocks with the central locking. You only need remote boot opener in basic cars! Window winders far better, Electric windows are one of the most troublesome things in cars.

Yep, no Fabia has rear electric windows since 2001. That was when the elegance lost them.

The guys in the back have got bugger all else to do, so let them wind their own windows up and down :)

Fabia boot opens with central locking.

But you can also unlatch the boot remotely too.

What do you really need windows that go down for anyway in these days of air con.

It's only for paying tolls etc that the windows on our fabia and octy ever get used.

The only useful thing for me about electric rear windows, is that they can be turned off, so that children are not tempted to play with the winders \ open them...

I find the leccy rear windows handy as I can clear the water off them in the mornings when i first get in the car by just winding them all down from the comfort of my heated seat ;) I like the remote boot opening too!

It's interesting though because if you buy a fabia RS in France (they call it RS, not vRS 'cos Ford didn't throw their toys out the pram?) you GET leccy rear windows.

In many ways, I wish I had manual front windows and leccy rear ones, because when I'm driving on my own, I could wind down my own window but not the one behind me ;)

Does that mean some "import" models will have rear electric windows & if they are still on european vRS's why doesn't someone just retro-fit it, surely it's just a case of getting the parts from abroad (can you order them from your dealer?), and then spending some pain staking time fitting them.

I have to agree that electric rear windows would be pointless in the fabia. Who would use them? The only passengers in the back would surely only really be small children, little dogs and maybe bags of shopping on the back seat. Come to think of it why is it 5-door anyway when really it's main market will be for those people who don't often have to carry passengers.

Car manufacturers fiddle about with specs between countries, in order to meet a target price for their product. I guess the Fabia vRS target price was 'under 12k' when it came out, so that it would sit in a particular place in the market.

My guess is that certain toys were removed to achieve this: that's how marketing works in the car industry. Now that the car has had good reviews and been well received by the public, they've started to sneak the prices up. They don't need to add the toys, because the car sells anyway: they can throw them back at the car towards the end of its life.

Summink less to f*ck up really.....innit?

What I have back seats  and they have windows

Wind-up windows in the back does'nt really bother me as I always choose to sit in the front :)
