Who buys a vrs for fuel economy get a diesel if thats what your after and...

A porsche 3.4 v6 gets 35mpg???

My last car was a 1.2 mark 1 corsa automatic and was getting 31mpg :giggle: so if i can triple the bhp and get better fuel economy maybe it can be true.

my wife has a renault clio 53 plate 1.4 16v , does 38mpg round town, up still only does 38 mpg on a run!! wtf!!! so my vrs to so much better :D

In the warmer weather I was averaging 39mpg on my 35 mile commute, but now it is a fair bit colder, I'm averaging around 34mpg.

However with the cold weather as has been said, it will drop economy.

I'm not complaining at all, I get the same or often better economy than my W reg 1.8 Focus except the VRS isn't dog slow!

I got 39mpg on a run from shropshire to portsmouth and with driving at motorway speeds mostly keeping up with traffic and the odd squirt to get by stuff.

but the last tank came out at 29.6 as I had a few short runs and a reasonbly fast run to an airport in the early hours.

for the performance and size of the car I think it is very good on fuel, be honest I bet an old astra GTE would have struggled to do 40mpg at the same speeds (and is prob a fair comparison of car at the time they were newish)

My VRS is like a diesel compared to the Impreza P1 i owned before it ,that had a 60 litre tank, 220miles range :giggle:

Yep coming from my old Impreza that only got 220 (no matter how i drove it) the VRS is much better. I don't know anyone who owned a Scooby getting more than the magic 220.

It must of drained out when it looks like beating that. :giggle:

They can be excellent on fuel but you do have to drive like a granny.

I have had 48mpg on a 160 mile run but that was driving at around 60mph taking it very very steady on the motorway with no traffic.

On the other hand i had it around 9mpg around Castle Combe.

V Power always gives me a few extra miles to a tank but on average i get around 340 to a tank before i have to fill up again (50litres).

Same except it was a 1.8 Escort GTi

Could get about 230-250 (short journeys/town) out of the tank or 270 if I was lucky. Thats with 115BHP.....and now get about 280-300 miles from the vRS with 180BHP

Better for economy than the Fiesta ST and Focus ST170 too, so can't be bad at all!! B)

I fill up once per month at the moment unless I do a couple of big trips so not really fussed

Use mine pretty much every day and on way to work, brisk drive bar 50 zone on M4 I get on dash around 33 - 35 on 40 mile trip. On way home after a 12-15hr shift I don't hurry but set cruise to 62 and can get 40-41 on dash. Again counting the 50 zone. Works out I can get 400 mile easy out of 50-53 l of Sainsbury's super. Only 97 ron tho iirc.

I find V Power is too much money to spend for the miles I get. And 95 makes the car feel like crap! Tesco momentum is good but too far to travel. Good responce from it. But I find that Sainsbury's super is a nice compromise between smooth power delivery, responce and economy. Vpower is just awesome for a good blast but not worth the extra money when you travel miles on miles. Same with Momentum 99.

As said before anything 350 up is good. My best was 10.1 mpl on a run down from Brighouse to Bristol with a tad of town driving in there. That was the std car tho when only 1 year old. Now I am gettin 7.4 ish brim to brim. The dash is 2mpg over

my old scooby did the same - no more than 200 miles to a tank - shocking really!

My mates got a 55 plate STI with the Prodrive Pack, he only managed 170 miles the other day!

I bought my vRS for improved economy..........my Toledo V5 was returning between 19 and 21 mpg most weeks and it was getting expensive so the jump up to 21-25mpg average is most wwelcome :) unfortunately a sticky rear caliper is dragging it down to V5 levels

I used to get 290-320 out of my my00 Scooby, sitting at 60mph on the motorway every day. I thought 'whats the point?'. I think that worked out at about 26mpg and even on a long run the most I ever got was 29mpg. Drive it like you want to and it would be the high teens at best.

So having something like the vRS is great, albeit with less grip and a less able chassis but similar power since the remap. Even if I nail it I'm still in the 20's, and have the option of 40mpg+ if I can be bothered to sit at 60mph on the cruise control.

could have gone for the 4x4 :D little bit worse economy than the VRs but not when its on LPG

I usually fill up 50Litres having done between 240-320 depending on the kind of trip etc

worst I had was 190 :D but it was fun

Oh! and thats at between 56-62p Litre :D :D :D (unless I have to fill up in a services  up to 79p in some)

I seem to be filling up at about 360-370 miles which seems a bit heavy until I look at TDi prices and consider how many miles I will have to do to make up the difference.
