Ordered My Fabia vRS 4 weeks ago, just spoke to the dealer, apparently it still doesn't have a build date and is still only an order on the system. So just emailed Skoda customer services to get an idea when I can expect a build date. Really hope I don't fall into the black hole that so many others seem to have done!

Is it normal to wait ages for a build date?

Seems to be the norm nowadays. I waited two months for a build date.

mate im waiting 16 weeks and still have no build date, so you could be waiting a while.

I gave up waiting for the dealership to reply to my e-mail and rang SUK Customer Services yesterday afternoon, apparently it is being built!!

That is 18 weeks today since I placed the order and was told it would be an absolute maximum of 17 weeks but "very often they come much quicker".

Still shouldn't grumble, at least it is coming!

maximum 17 weeks is only something the dealer says to make u happy when u put the order..

Ordered 20 Oct 2010 and still not buld yet here..

guess that makes about 1 year waiting...

im at 14 weeks now with no confirmed build date either :'( my mot's up soon too so i might see what their prepared to do about that as i was quoted 10 weeks when paying my deposit and i could do without any extra expense on a car thats going, itll be 17 weeks from order then so i dont think its being cheeky asking. apart from time does an actual mot cost a garage anything?

due to my car being 7 years old now im starting to get paranoid its going to brake and cost me a small fortune :(

I ordered my white vrs estate on the 7th of Feb with sat nav, bluetooth, MFSW, arm rest, dark chrome alloys, head light washers, climate. Was told 15 to 18 weeks for delivery. Had to chase the dealer up many times to be told no date yet etc etc. Went in a couple of weeks ago as I was having no joy via email and he told me it may be here by the end of July but that could change as it only had an unconfirmed build date although I would be getting the latest sat nav and the black pack. I asked him to keep me updated but yet again have heard nothing, getting to the point where I am going to cancel as I cant wait much longer, the whole point of getting the estate was the arrival of my baby son who is now nearly 7 months old! In the same situation as other, going to need new brake pads and a new MOT in the next 2 months. Never experienced anything like this before!! :(

Hi Everyone!

First post, but i've been lurking on the boards for a few months now :)

Sorry to hear about so many folks crazy waiting times. It must be incredibly frustrating and take some of the joy out of buying a new car. I ordered my Black vrs on the 21st March from Chatham's in Dunfermline and was told by the dealer, a 16 week wait, which i didn't have any problem with.

After reading some of the horror stories on this board, i grew slightly concerned about my own order as my current car was due its service and MOT mid August. I phoned at the beginning of June and was told by the dealer my car had an unconfirmed build week of week 29.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, i phoned again this morning and was told my car is corfirmed build week 28 (week after next, i think) and worst case scenario would be with me first week in August. I've began to feel very excited and slightly nervous now! This is my first ever brand new car and first Skoda. I've owned VW's up until now.

Hopefully, i'll get some pics uploaded when i get my vrs. It's going to be all black with the chrome alloys.

I hope this sheds some more light on the Skoda ordering process. I've been subject to a small delay but all in all it's not been an unpleasent experience (so far).

Just had an email from SKODA UK probably build week 34

So three weeks for delivery makes it a bouncing baby

Time I gets to sit in it

And suk have paid for mot on the mazda mx5

(well discounted the New car when it arrives)

My request case I get bored of waiting

It begins to grate getting in and out of an mx5

Age and bones are against me and a stiff clutch

I wonder how many crossings the ships make on a weekly basis... Mine might even be on the same boat as yours if it hasn't left whatever country it is in!

Not to put a downer on it (and unless they are coming through quicker now) but 5 months for a GL2 is... optimistic! Hope it does come in that time for you though

I think Skoda/VAG use KESS line for car transport across the north sea from Emden to Grimsby or Sheerness.

Car carriers Weser Highway,Isar Highway and Neckar Highway have all docked at Grimsby from Emden this last week.

Do a search for the above ship names and follow the marinetraffic.com link. Think my motor should have been on one of these and should now be sat at Grimsby awaiting delivery to dealer.

My car was completed on Friday, doubt its left the factory yet :(

Weser Highway - Back on its way to Emden

Isar Highway - Is in Emden

Neckar Highway - In Grimsby (So thats probably the one your car is on)

These are not massive ships - they carry about 650 - 750 cars a time, but I think four lots have arrived at Grimsby this last week,so about 2500 cars. Wonder how many were Skoda's given the factory seems to be building RHD cars at the moment.

Almost makes me want to drive to Grimsby to have a look for mine, but then again perhaps not ......

Well they have a 800km trip before they even go on the boat from Mladá Boleslav Factory.

If it takes longer, it will just put a bigger dent in P/X valuation from the dealer. Will see what happens and keep everyone updated :)

Careful with that, had my dealership trying to 'revalue' my car to which I politely said... bog off! What we agreed is what we agreed, not my issue the car has been delayed. Should of hurried up and built it quicker.

I ordered my vRS in the first week of April with an initial delivery of early August. Had an update from the Dealer it is now early October but my p/x value will be honoured.
