Rpm Late Summer Tour

I'm not sure if thats possible. I'd rather not, but if start and finish are a million miles apart I might have to rethink my plans and take you up on the offer of chauffeuring me around... Can I sit in the back too? ;)

He's got an Octavia, not a Superb.

Q, don't think you'll want to sit in the back with the new suspension set up. :D

Des

I'll wear a helmet then :D

Well - I'll do whatever you do, Q - If I leave my car next to yours I need not worry about anyone nicking it, as yours will kind of detract attention away from my car... no offence. :D

If there is a car park at the Chepstow racecourse - I see no problems with leaving the car there for the day - it's probably free, but I don't mind paying for parking if security is decent...

Maybe a little surf about the place at lunch is called for?

OK - I've done my nerdy bit at lunch and surfed for the locations of the events, and it seems that a vast amount of South Wales will be covered.

Chepstow is obviously close to the Severn, and the Caerwent (2nd) is also just a 10 minute jaunt from Chepstow. However, it appears Llandow is more or less at Bridgend, and Pembrey is up near where I went to uni, just west of Swansea (which means I have local knowledge of pubs in Swansea, if that should be needed... :D :dtp: )

Jon - map reading spot-on - have streetmap.co.uk maps of every venue, and I've "plotted" a route between them. BTW - found a good website for the llandow circuit - it looks kind of NASCAR'ish to me, but bloody good!

Jason,

I think that a bunch of us are staying over on the Saturday night, probably at an Horrible Inn/Travellodge type place to save massive miles on the Sunday. I'm sure you could leave your car there if we ask nicely.

Chepstow racecourse is a nice venue, I've watched a few events there. Caerwent, drove there many many years ago, again should be fun. Des and I have been to Llandow before :D Quite a cute little circuit, never done either of the Pembrey venues, but the main circuit look s really nice. Quite technical in places with some "brave" corners :D

You won't need to find a route between venues, you get a roadbook with full instructions for a route. Its usually over somne "interesting" roads.

Jon

Jolly good.

How early is the start at Chepstow? If its something silly like 7am, meaning I have to be away from down 'ere at 5am, I may think about staying somewhere too... At least I'm assured my car will have somewhere safe to stay during the day.

Same applies for me. If the start is at dusk, I might drive up the night before and see if I can find a suitable cardboard box to sleep in ;)

when your booking the room ring me.. me+ Ian need rooms as well..

I'm not too bothered about doing the miles to Chepstow and back in one day. I guess its every1 actually driving all the routes/circuits who will benefit from staying over. It must be an extra 200+ miles..? Chepstow is only around a 90 minute drive for me, so 3 hours total for the day is fine. I guess it depends how tired I get of Jon's driving. Its been known to send me off to sleep, ya know. :D

I do believe the co-drivers are in for an entertaining day :D

Q, are you a nervous passenger? Would you like me to bring you some sick bags? :D

Jason, I'll lend you a neck brace for when you have a helmet on :D

Article 10 - Start

10.2 Cars will leave the start in numerical order at intervals of 1 minute from 9.30am.

10.3 Cars should arrive at the start venue at least 45 minutes before their due start time, which will be notified in the Final Instructions.

Older cars run first, last one we were all 60+ in the numbering. We'll arrange a meet up nearer the time. Final instructions usually come out about a week before the event.

Jon

Sounds like an 8am meet time at a convenient location near Chepstow is called for... Adequate time for me to strap up my neck in time. :D

Is there any point in bringing my digital along with me? It sounds like I'm going to be spending a lot more time trying not to get the camera broken than actually co-driving...

Might as well bring your camera, you can get some nice shots of Q turning green :D

Right - shall do - I'll pad out the carry case with bubble-wrap...

Do we really want piccies of Q having a technicolour yawn? Of course we do! BTW I have asbestos guts, so there'll be no need to bring any upholstery shampoo with me around.

Good question, is it worth taking a camera along or is it really going to be 'hanging on for dear life' ?

Am I a nervous passenger? Not really, but I've got a feeling that Des will do his damnest hard to make me one ;)

So we should expect to be present at around 8.30am... Let's see, according to my routeplanner it takes me an est. 2.5 hours to get there... I'm getting more tempted to book a hotel room for the night before. Although, traffic should be very light on a Sunday morning at around 6am.... Whats the plod like on the M4?

I'm getting there in good time, 45+ mins from the first leaver. The sight of E-types etc should not be missed while queuing to sign in.

There are plenty of photo opportunites, I hope Simon has picked up from the last event that more viewing time of the classics sould be included, as that for me is as much the purpose of the day as having a blast myself.

Also how about a nights kip in the local travel lodge, all there early that way and refreshed, assuming the SO's allow such a thing... :)

If there's a classic car photo-shoot possible, then there's no way I'm NOT taking my camera now. :D

I also hope to get somne better AVI clips with it too - the ones from Wales jaunt were sh1te to say the least! Mopst of them seemed to have been taken from when I didn't even know the thing was on!

It might be worth taking a quick look at this site when you're planning the route between stages.

Q, Looks like i'm heading towards staying overnight on Saturday, hope that's not a problem.

Des

Des, no it is not a problem. I'm beginning to lean towards that option myself.

Jon, you missed out a *very* somewhere along the line.

Des

But I think I found the solution for that

:D

Anyone know how much a stop over at travelodge/horrible Inn is? I think this whole thing is heading toward a group stay ( A group buy on travelodge rooms? )

Plus, I may miss out on some Sat evening shenanigans that I (& my camera) may miss out on. :D
