they were spot on tbh. :)

Just peeked on robs journal

I have ordered both sets now, but a little worried that the verdict motorsport ones are on back order.

hows ya earthquakes mate?

Hoping they're settling down now. We've had at least 200 and felt about 12 of them. 5.4 on Friday night -  the house did a good shimmy!

I feel sorry for the people in Seddon on the South Island as they've had the worst of it. It's being reported as Wellington quakes but they're 50km from us under a small town. Minimal damage here.

NZ wouldn't be here without serious geological movement, ring of fire and all that.

Didn't get a chance to touch the car yesterday, will get on with it later today :)

I've spent my weekend so far reading through all 65 pages of this thread, and I love it. Proper detail, proper write ups, a good update on every page and a truly awesome car.

I've just bought myself an Octavia estate in silver and this has inspired me to do so many things, proper good looking car fella, well played. I look forward to seeing what else you have to offer.

Thank you very much Steveday.  nice to hear people still read this thread.

as for what i have to offer hows this.. :)

Short Shift and Linkage bushes.

Quite an easy job. To start off with i locked the gearing system on the car.  not ever done this job before i didnt want to mess anything up with any silly mistakes.

I lock the gearbox first with this little lever. Its quite tricky to move for the first time, you need to pull it up 90 deg to lock everything.

i then released the cables.  Well tried.. mine were seized

was a bit of a mission release as i dint not want to snap them.

now i know i didnt have to release the cables but it will all make sense.

i took off the little clip on the top of the linkage,

Gently lift the top then slide off.

then removed the 13mm nut holding the shifter arm on.

gently wiggle the selector arm up and side to side to remove. Locking everything helps remove this without moving.

the rusty nut got a quick rub down, red oxide then paint.

Whilst all that was drying, i got on with the bushes.

Be aware the clutch hydraulic solid pipe is attached to the bracket shown with a green dot.  this just unclips.

red dots shot the 3 13mm bolts you need to remove.

once the bolts are removed, i just nipped the rubber bushes with side cutters to help remove them,

when removed this is how the bracket will look.

all the old bushes out.

these are what they will be replaced with

replaced bottom part of bush

a bit of love on the bolts..

all on.

short shifter goes on with a de rusted nut. I set mine for nice short shifting, i need to grease it up yet as i aint got none.  :wall:

as everything is locked, i took the tension on the cables and clamped them back in. Linkage is now all set up as new, that with the new flywheel and clutch feels luurrrvly!

Dont forget to release your gear box, Gently wiggle the linkage whilst pulling the lever out and back round 90 deg

Remove the 5mm rod (or drill bit in my case) from you gear stick and your ready to go.

as i have kinda neglected the car recently, and my little custom breather system works well, i decided to  rehose it all. Its not tidier, the relocation pipe i have made to go up the side of the engine as i think it looks better. my braided lines also got a tidy up, pipe off the carbon canister i relocated for tidyness, and fitted my anodised braid clamps.

This is Before.aaabay.jpg

This is now.
