WOW!! i love DIY mods.. hats off to you looks mental!

I'm surprised Plod hasn't pulled you just to ask how you achieved the look - fantastic job!

How does it fare re. stone chips? Does the vinyl alter in any way with +/- temperature between cold winter days and hotter summers?

Why would the police pull him and ask him that?

Why would the police pull him and ask him that?

Possible to ask why there data base says the car with that reg should be Silver

No need to inform the DVLA on a colour change cos it's not permeant

Will you be parking it in a garage at night or chaining it to a wall in a dark cellar?

I'm only joking, Harry :giggle: . You know me

I think the car looks great and, again, kudos to you for doing what you did

Looks nice:) Very sharky look

Fantastic job Harry looks amazing. I don't think I would have the patience or balls to try such a monumental task...

I remember seeing the matt black police cars in the original Robocop movie when I was a kid thinking how cool te effect was.

Anyone interested in going for the look may be interested in 'Plasti Dip'. It's a spray on acrylic Matt effect paint that can just be peeled off. I originally found it when looking to play with the colour of my alloys. There is a company in the US that do kits for the whole car as well www.dipyourcar.com . They've got some cool videos that make it look easy, bet it isn't! ;-)

Did this stuff work out for you on the wheels ???

this is good for a temporary colour change it can be peeled off if you change your mind.

www.dipyourcar.com wont ship outside of the UK though as they are compressed containers.

I have seen someone spray their entire car and the finish was quite good

I'd rather wrap it for durability. Get the pressure washer on at the wrong angle and that 'dip' will soon be gone. I also had great pleasure in doing it too.

looks awesome, really smart job. what care products will you be using, thus not to induce shine?

Whats the story with the WRC spoiler on the FL ? Is it an available skoda part ?

  • Author

The spoiler is from superskoda. Should fit the FL no problems as the bootlids are identical.

Glad you could set the record straight Harry

I'd doubt it was anything to do with being young and affording it - I am sure most people on here would realise that age and cash in the pocket don't always go together!!

Used to annoy me when I was younger - for the record I'm 32 now and haven't got a fraction of the disposable income I had when I was 18.

Even remember being pulled by the police at about 21 years old and being asked "what is someone like you doing driving round at his time of night in a car like this?" (it was about three am and I was driving over to my mum and dad's as I was going the football with the old man in the morning).

Cheers harry...

Very nice work,I want to wrap my car too,I have some experience wrapping interior parts.

Plase help me with this one.....I saw you wrap the doors and rear wing with one big sheet of vinyl, but how do you cut it between the doors?I mean you need to stretch it to get inside.

Maybe if you have apicture with a door ,where the vinyl ends

Looks great!

The idea is to cut as near to the middle of the seam as possible which gives the max amount of vinyl to wrap around the seam. I have also bought some 10mm vinyl stripes which I ran along the inside edges to give it a bit more adhesion.

  • Author

Does this give a better indication? This is what all the seams are like, but now there is a 10mm stripe along each edge to better adhere it.
