If anyone's running the Linux FAH client, you may be interested in a wrap-around "wot I wrote". Basically, it runs the client as a daemon, so you don't need to be logged-in to run it, and it can be started automatically at boot-up.

eeek.. its very very close now...

in the space of the last few hours, manny has re-taken the lead, then lost it again by 18points

I have the lead back

I may have mentioned this before ;) but please, please make sure you have permission to run it on your corporate machine(s). There have been instances where people just rolled it out across a whole network (without permission) and that is just bad PR - plus it could get the points zeroed out (it has happened :( ):D

Not a problem, its just the new monitoring software we use throws alarms all the time. Folding is running on 3 of our 21 dual cpu servers, one instance on each box and now limited to 20% cpu. Before I switched them to folding these same servers had been running seti for months at 100% cpu. Before the new software was loaded, they had been folding 100% cpu from just after the beginning of our folding team till a few weeks ago.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who is folding for us

we are currently ranked 300th in the team standings :)

and the 2nd highest car-orientated forum team (behind Mustang world, who have over twice as much cpu power as us)

I wonder who will be the 1st to get to 1000 units.

Still chugging along with half a CPU at work :)

Not me, that's for sure!

ive noticed that some people are slacking off recently!! :(

Just bumping this so that new members are aware of our folding team.

We are making slow progress to being in the top 200 teams worldwide, out of more than 40,000 teams.

We need some new members to help us out, our weekly rate has been dropping off, and some teams are in danger of catching us as a result.

Good idea bumping this - several folding users have been idel for a long time now :(

Meanwhile I've climbed a fair few places recently.

Again, if someone has any ideas for getting FAH working through my work proxy I can make more of a contribution to Briskoda throughput.

Problem is, even with tweaking the config file, I get proxy authorisation failures. Its probably more to do with our proxy server setup (running at our HQ unfortunately, so I can't fiddle with it  )

PM if anyone has any ideas

Manny, great idea bringing it up again. There must be more Briskodians that can help us out with this.

Please chaps, if any of you are not involved yet, please get involved as soon as possible.

All the Best

I guess your works proxy server requires authentication. IE usually deals with this in the background, but windows services cant send that infomation so you maybe stuck as far as work goes.

You maybe able to get it to work though, try installing it as a service but running it under your login account rather than the system one. The only problem with this is each time you change your password you will need to reset the security settings on the service. Maybe the proxy is using the userid to decide what goes through the firewall.

Gues I'd better get my P4 lappie back on track - Its been downstairs and used as a bit of a "public net access" point. :D But left logged off and closed most of the time.

That's a fair point, will see if that sorts it. Otherwise I'm just gonna stick a few machines on reserved DHCP IPs and then request they're allowed to steer round the proxy, for 'work reasons' ;) Needed to do this today to solve another problem, and it worked a treat

That should increase my points a little anyway...

Steve

I think Neo's slacking a bit. ;) Even Manny is catching up, and Chris is motoring on up there. :D I'm down to 2 PCs though, both of which are "ok" - Got my other older folding machine up on fleabay now.

Only just over half those on the leaderboard are still doing any folding. Any chance a few of you could rejuvenate those folding consoles? ;) No need to worry about them as they can run in the background.

Link for those people not up to date with the Briskoda protein folding team.;)
