Only 253? :P Better start getting a bank loan for all the PCs then?!

Well if your router lets you change the subnet mask then 32765 might be possible , or even 16 million :D

Just be cautious electricity-bill wise.. Mine is running 200 quid a month (!!) - that's a LOT of machines and no monitors mainly. Gas-central heating but electric cooker/hob stuff...

For decent points per pound you'll need something 1GHz or above really, below that I'd stick to timeless WUs only due to the way the project works.

It's great to see you guys go up the rankings this quickly, considering you've only started a little while back :D Good job

Well ill soon have another 2 2.8gig xeons folding for the cause.. im catching you manny :D

one will have to replace the amd64 that has managed to fry itself due to a faulty northbridge fan (ouch):thumbdwn:

im catching you manny :D

Must find more power :D

Look out, look out! A 1.67ghz Athlon has just been added to my cause!

Looking to get a 3ghz machine built using new bits bought using my company's I.T account now - favourable prices + no VAT. [monty burns] Exceeeelllent [/monty burns]

Just been looking at the league table. Watch your back, Manny! There's someone smoking up behind you in a black Fabia - less than a couple of thou' in it now. :D

Just wanted to say that 81 active CPUs from 31 members is pretty astounding!

Just a random question, what's this "Finished a frame (xxx)" (where x is a number) that appears in my XP console window? Noticed it a few times and wondered if anyone knows what it's doing?!

Steve

Steve, if its the finished a frame message then its goes upto 400 before ending and starting the next WU.

I have added another cpu to the cause today, but I dont think I can find anymore.

Thanks, yes that's what I mean. Just that it's been taking a long time on my main PC. Perhaps it's a particularly big work unit? It must have been going for at least 24hrs now...

I also seem to be running two FAH processes now, 'FAH Core 65' and 'FAH Core 78' I think. They're splitting CPU utilisation between them. Wondering if this is normal/usual?

Steve

Some WUs can take a week ;) I'd definitely check as if you have two cores running and they share the same machine ID you have something set up wrong.

Well - I have sucessfully got XP on the "dodgy" machine, and now it is folding away too, so thats four processors at the moment... Just need that elusive 4th desktop "stripped out" tower. ;)

Think I'm catching up with Mike(klb) slowly. Those above there had better watch your backs too. ;)

Little way to go till you catchup with me and Colin, looks like I'll be first to 50,000. I now have 10 CPU's on the go.

Oh, I don't think you and Colin need fear for your status as #1 and #2 in the Briskoda folding team. ;) I just wanted to do more for the general cause. A nice barebones Athlon 3500 would be a nice addition too. ;)

However, I think we need more than 31 people contributing. It seems from the stats though that only 21 of the 31 are actually contributing at the moment. But the number of CPUs is now 84... Thats probably the extra 3 I now have on there. :D

Well... I've managed to press gang two members into folding last night. :D Has anyone else mnaged to coerce anyone else into joining up? I think I got 4 CPUs into the swing last night. If only I was on piece rate. :(

The gap is widening between me and Colin for some reason, and the team is edging ever closer to the 400's.

Yea im not too sure why... ive lost a a64 and gained 2x p4

Nice to see some GOOD progress has been made in last few days I've been away. My three towers have been doing OK so it seems - no dramas, but they didn't do all that much while I was gone. :(

Big shout out too. Some new names have appeared on the rostrum.

I think I see Richard's name on there too. :D

And helpmedisappear is SHOOTING up the leaderboard. I think the team is doing really well now.

Tomorrow, I'll have finished my first WU.

Beers all round methinks.

 :D Have one for me. :dtp:

I just pipped 6000 today.

edit: BTW: Nice sig. :naughty:

But you haven't signed up?

I have confirmed that I have a second tower I could use. However, I only have 1 monitor, 2 keyboards and 4 mice. So, I need a KVM switch. Does anyone have a spare floating about they won't need? Else I've seen one for about £19.

I could do with one of those switches - and preferably about 4 ways. I have four towers here, with a monitor perched on each one (except the one on my desk) plus the laptop on the desk too. :D Too much damned IT.

Hmm,

I'm sure I've seen a couple lying on the "not quite junk - yet" pile in work. Must keep an eye open ;)

 Would reduce my power usage a fair bit too I think, although all the monitors are turned off I suspect they still use a tiny bit of energy just being linked to the computer?

No, if a monitor is turned off, it doesn't use any power. It's different if the PC is turned off and the monitor goes into "sleep mode" - then it (the monitor) will still use a small amount of power.

Weird thing on one 17" screen is the orange light stays on whilst its "off" at the button. Might pull the plug out the back on it in the morning. :)
