Alan, speed is not important. If you use the console version and set the advanced options on a dual processor machine its possible to get both processors folding independantly as if they are 2 separate pc's.

Yeah, i've been reading up on that. Just got to get it all figured out first.

I've just pipped 10,000 today. :D Not bad given I've only got a couple of machines running part time now.

(no, "80.,000!! :P" comment from you, Col. :D)

I think this sums up really well what the Briskoda folding team is all about. Anyone else going to help us out with a little spare PC power? :D

 Damn meant to start a new thread.... :o

Had forgotten my machines were doing this! Up to 10th place now wahoooo :D

Chris

OK cancel that solved my own question, it only lists teams in the top 2000 - we are now up to 2500ish.

Oh well!

Folding at work. SETI at home and work. Don't you just love modern PC's

I wonder if Colin will pass me and be first to 100,000 points.

im trying ma best :D

I pipped 100 WU's processed now. Very chuffed with myself. Still languishing in sort of "mid-table" though. :D

Well, cheers for the heads up Jason! I'm now doing my bit by crunching away at home on my P4 540! Also going to try and get the work PC crunching away too!

Nice to know what we're doing could potentially result in a medical break through!

If you haven't signed up yet - do it! ;)

Ooooooo the suspense is killing me!!!

Why the sudden production fall Manny?

or has Col been adding more and more machines?!

Hmm. I guess I could always rename myself and give my finishing 7500WU block to someone.

My account details for payment are available on request

Would laugh if the top twos machines broke down for a week and then everyone overtook them!!! (boy am i evil!!)

monitoring software at work on the servers means I cant run those cpu's at 100% anymore as it gets reported on monthly. However I have now customised the client to use only 20% cpu, that wont trigger any alarms but its reduced my processing power.

I have several WU's that are very close to finishing.

Having just finished designing a roll-out image for 100 new Dell machines (p4 2.8) i was soooooo tempted to include the client.. that would get us to the top of the table quite quickly :D

Unfortunately, due to them being small form factor dells, and presshot-class processors, they tend to get warm when pushed and the tiny heatsink blower gets quite vocal

I have noticed the fans on my Mesh 1.8 & the 2.8 laptop tend to be quite vocal. :D

What?

Speak up...14 fans in here, can't hear you...(not all in once case, or two or 3 mind)

actually it is bloody loud..ok phase cooling required :D

I may have mentioned this before ;) but please, please make sure you have permission to run it on your corporate machine(s). There have been instances where people just rolled it out across a whole network (without permission) and that is just bad PR - plus it could get the points zeroed out (it has happened :( )

For a server-room it is also important to realise the points made in the last few posts, i.e. CPUs stick out a whole bunch of heat at 100% load. Servers don't tend to be at 100% load (usually). If you have an aircon'd room, it will probably have been estimated for a certain thermal load. With the whole stack running at 100% you'll use more electricity (a fair bit more) and a whole load more cooling is required (a LOT more, based on my loft...) - which in turn costs more electricity too.

Generally speaking you can get away with it, must say I like the 20% thing as it reduces the chances of problems if the client starts hogging resources :D
