I've noticed that if I shut my monitor off - the ambient temp in the room drops by around 4 degrees

Had never really thought how much heat was generated by monitors - untill I saw a monitor cooling fan setup in a magazine -- it was an april fool joke - but its actually true how much heat can be thrown out by these things - especialy if left on all the time

Monitors (CRT) use a LOT of electricity, always turn them off (or in power save mode, where they are using < 5W usually).

I've got a 21"er - monitor ;) - and that sticks out a whopping amount of heat.

Finally managed to pass Colin, but not by much.

I lost a big WU this morning for some reason, it finished but didn't load a new one, and hasn't shown it on my stats either :( anyone else had this?

I'm not far off my 2nd W.U

Glad to say its not lost one yet. :)

Did anyone notice that the #1 ranking is held by WUs returned without any ID/owner, so this is probably where yours got to, Fasterbaby.

Damn you... youll prob open the gap this weekend, as my most powerful folding "machine" (read: dual cpu exchange server) is down for maintinence :(

I am now one CPU down, but I have a plan to get back to 10 CPU's again.

I don't know what gives you that idea, Colin(D) :D.

Anyway aside from the internal competition hasn't anyone noticed we're a gnat's whisker away from the top 2% of the entire programme!

And well done Manny :)

We are upto 766th place now, progress has slowed a little. and Colin has a chance to catchup as till Sunday night I am down to 6 CPU's.

Currently folding I have

2 x PIII 866's in a dual cpu machine (1 copy per cpu)

1 x P4 Xeon (cant remember speed)

2 x P4 Xeon (fastest currently available)

1 x P4 3.06 GHZ

Offline at the mo, that I can remember.

1 x Athlon XP2700

1 x P4 3.4GHZ

1 x P4 3.06GHZ

Well, I hope to eventually have 3 CPUs folding soon... Not bad for a mere PC numpty. Shame the Netgear only has 4 ports on the back. ;) Any way you can expand network ports?

Well i dont know what is happening here :( the last 2 big WU ihave had have come to nothing! It says now the core is shutting down at 21.07 and i have nothing else!! Can someone enlighten me on what is happening please or i might have to shutdown this as all it seems i am doing is running 24/7 for no benifit.

Do you work through a proxy? Can you post a link to your fah.log file? (Unless there's any security-sensitive info in there, but I can't think of any).

Failing that, maybe get ColG to post on the FAH board that he's signed up to.

As for expanding network ports - just buy a hub or a switch, connect that to your router ;)

 eh? Is that like another router, attached to a port on my router? :D

Oh well, at least I have something to be happy about. WU #2 finished just now. I'm climbing the rankings. Look out Manny!

 into the top 10 with 90 workunits :D

I have been running it on my Lappy as well as i lost a few WU's but it wont seem to pause when using battery power as i have set it to do :( anyone know how to force this? Using console version btw.

Still down the bottom with a mere 2... :o:D

:bump:

Thanks to Steve for moving and sorting. ;)

Managed to FINALLY get my two PCs talking to the Netgear - Now my old Athlon is just sat merrily in the corner of my room, unloved, but happily folding away, and my AMD2200 is now up and biting into a rather chunky 2500 sized WU! It completed a 200 sized in no time at all! Guess that will be the 1 GIG ram. ;)

Nice to be using XP finally too - all seems very slick, once I found out a few querks with it that I need to adjust to. (and there will be more no doubt. :D)

Just got myself signed up in the team :) Good to see our team ranking is relatively high considering the total number.

668th out of over 37,000 teams

I had a look through some of the top team members profile's from the top ranked teams, and some of them have done silly amounts of folding.... - I think I saw one of them had 50 active processors.

Indeed our good friend WW_VRS has a fair sized folding farm  and he wont donate any of them to the Briskoda cause :(

I think that should be an instant ban from all future meets then, as an act of gross miscounduct,

Or at least donate some of the machinery to me. I have two more ports to fill on this router. :o

I heard a rumour earlier about running more than one F@H client on one PC... Is this really possible, as I'll do it on my older machine now as it does sod all except fold now. :)
