About to purchase a Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hello there.

I'm Ryan, I currently drive a Ford Fiesta and have been considering a Fabia vRS for some time now.

I had a look at one locally today, and I really like it. I'm just not 100%, I'm really attached to my Fiesta which i've had for almost 3 years. The garage the Fabia is at is a decent spot, and they're doing a good deal for me.

Its and 05 plate with 69k, FSH inc belts. It's finished in black. It's fitted cruise control and the chilled glove box.

Basically, i'm just wanting some help. Should I get it?

I said I'd let them know in the morning.

Thanks, Ryan :)

Well the Fabia Mk 1 VRS is an exceptional machine being both quite quick and very economical.

Like any car with a turbo it can be a worry about it going pop and costing quite a lot to fix. Maybe one of these warranty deals might be a good idea.

The 130 hp 1.9 diesel is an excellent engine just sold an Octy estate with that engine, (had a Fabia VRS SE too), that had twice those miles and it was still running sweet but then also had the engine in an Audi A3 and the turbo variable blades jammed at around 65K and cost a bit to repair though Audi picked up the bill as less than 3 years old even though out of warranty as VW-Audi stingely only do 60K warranties.

So great car to own and run, just protect yourself against turbo failure as that is potentially very expensive.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hey man I went from a mk5 fiesta zetec s with bits done to it for a fabia vrs and I wouldn't look back... I do miss the fiestas handling and noise but other than that the torque is addictive and tax is cheaper and it's cheaper to run I wouldn't look back... When I say that I'm still looking for a s2 rsturbo project for the summer ford is still in my blood (wait for the bad response) :/

welcome to briskoda

Welcome along, the fabia vrs are a perfect combo...

130BHP which is quite fast and economic (50mpg+) whilst not being in your face.

Have a look through the mark one section to see what can be done and to get an idea of common faults etc

All the best :)

Thanks for the warm welcoming guys :)

The turbo was one of the things I was wary about when test driving it, it seemed fine, no excessive smoke or whistles.

I put a deposit down on the car today, not sure when I will be collecting it as it has to go through the workshop and get the necessery checks done.

I'll find it hard saying bye to the Fiesta, though. Absoloutly love it despite the amount of problems it's had (litterally Fixed or Repaired Daily haha)I didn't intend to keep it for three years in which I put 50k on it, but you know how it is.

Really looking forward to collecting her, and getting to use the forum :)

Welcome along, good luck with the new car

Hi Ryan, glad to see you came to the VAG side finally :D

Saw the picture you put on facebook the other day and it looks tidy :)

Any plans for it?

Cheers Paul!

VAG side was needed, got sick of forking out money on the Fiesta. Hopefully the Fabia should be a tad more reliable.

I want the standard wheels for it, not keen on the ones it has now. Other than that I plan to keep it standard.

I would love to see how long this car stays "standard" for ;)

welcome buddy

Would this car happen to be a black vRS from a fairly large luxury brand car garage in Carlisle?

Lexus, yeah.

Are you the previous owner by any chance? Salesman said the owner had got a Leon.

I bet you can't. You'll enjoy her

Hello and welcome, always great to see more members cropping up from my neck of the woods. If your interested in meeting more local members check out the north west section, especially the Cumbrian Run that I organise with the assistance of Sharkrider.
