Ive just realised what a sound whore I am :D

Theres no way I could ride a bike with a standard exhaust (maybe a GS/explorer). I love the sound of my bike and I do believe loud pipes save lives

Not the only one.

Not a particularly fast bike at 70bhp, but the SV650 engine with a Beowulf can (oh those bloody baffles fell out again ;)) did sound bloody marvellous

I think I am too, one of my dislikes of the Z1000SX after the big ZZR was the moped like ride and sound upgrade and after market cans don't look as good as the stock ones sadly.   :(

This sound.......

After this, deducted many a man point :(

I think it changed to a v4 in 2011, but dont quote me.

If you're serious, get a test ride on both. I love a vtwin, deep, snarling torque wherever you are in the revs.

A v4 seems more half way house between an inline 4 and a vtwin. More peaky than a twin, but more grunty than an IL4.

I just dont like inline 4's if im honest, and love a good vtwin.

But its each to their own of course, you could well prefer the v4 (:

It would replace the CB, which wont be for a while yet but I'll give them both a whirl.

Me too! and to think I wasnt sure about putting a can on my bike. Got a habit of riding along and just easing off the throttle at about 7k to make it burble and pop now. :D

My mate had one of them for his first bike, he had a Mivv GP on it I think, **** me was it loud, he loved it, in fact he still goes on about it now.

Also, got a quick snap of my brothers 'Love Live Ride' Tattoo, picture also serves as a lesson as to why even doing less than 30mph can hurt if you're wearing a hoodie on a bike.

Ouch!!

Well impressed with your IT skills there too. Drop down thing n everythin haha.

Yeah you cant beat a good end can! SV's do sound awesome, everyone who heard mine loved it (apart from the odd car owner with a sensitive alarm) and a 1000 vtwin only gets even more like thunder! Aha.

Video was for menders shed thread, but still loving the angry sounding Akrapovič and the novelty of my new battery firing her up so easily without the need for any choke etc :D

I love a good shed B)

Sorry but that shed is far too tidy.....

Tidy??? It's a right tip at the moment!!! Look at the back shelf and all the empty boxes on right :( (empty boxes are a way of maintaining space from clutter build up and reserve space for a second bike  ) Then there is the ever growing collection of friggin wheels I don't want! Anyone want a set of 18" alloys and tyres for a E60, or a new set of Audi BBS alloys with winter rubber that I got for the Mk2 FL Octy vRS but, only used once and covered sub 400 miles??? :D Or a factory spare for same Octy and tool kit unused. Oh and a set of steelies for a Mk1 Octy with good tyres.. Some weight in that shed tbh when you add it all up!

or a new set of Audi BBS alloys with winter rubber that I got for the Mk2 FL Octy vRS but, only used once and covered sub 400 miles???

Want...Yes.

Need.....Nope.

LOL we don't need anything :P I bought them new (thread about it on here somewhere) in the summer and now am sat with them thinking 'well maybe I will get another VAG car that takes them at some point' LOL Which is just about 90% of VAG cars after mine :D

If I didn't have 18" winter alloys & tyres I would have them but I do have a winter set-up.

Got a picture anyway?

I'm thinking new BBS alloys and new winter rubber wouldn't be cheap and its a bit too good for a winter set-up :x

Which rubber did you get?

They have Hankook M&S tyres on them that were €117.50 each. Because I lived in southern Holland right on the German border, it made sense to get them rather than the more common Robo Cop look black steelies. But alas I never really used them. Went on once for getting my wheels refurbed and car did a total of about 2km with them on (dropped off then collected in a company vehicle). Then put them on when it got cold for the following winter and was stuck working 60-90 hours a week so only used the vRS to go back and forward to the shops perhaps twice a week for about 6 weeks. Then driving home I decided I didn't want them on and put the 18"'s on for the long drive :D not been on since. I say sub 400 miles its very conservative lol. Another member has the same wheels on a 170 superb estate.

I think my best value for money option at moment is to use the tyres on them on the Mk1 Octy since I upgraded it to the optional alloys from the common 15" steelies :D 205/55/16 and I have 2 new 2 3.something tread tyres on the car at moment. Regardless once the rear 2 are done, I will scrap the lot and get a all round fresh set.

Just done a few mods to my 2001 rsv mille including a force aprillia race eprom and its unstoppable! Having ridden both the gen 1 ,2 and v4 the gen one is a better bike that the gen 2 far more fun it the v4 is a different animal but mega bucks compared to the gen 1!! If I had spare cash I'd but a haga or Edwards gen 1 rep with all the oz and ohlins kit and you will make money if you keep it nice!

The v4 is as I said a mega bike but soooooo much more than is needed for modern roads and traffic. I ride mine hard and get soooo much satisfaction from it I feel the v4 was wasting money a bit

What do you think about this bike dude? I keep telling myself I'm going to go test ride one but fear I'd really like it and what to get rid of my 636 and I'm just not ready to even thought I've had it from new and its now almost 10 years old!

Only just seen this thread!!!! :-O I've got a Kawasaki 636 C1H

LOL I traded in a nicely modified ZZR1400 against the Z1000SX as there was an offer on with free luggage on new ones and speced ABS. Never really fell in love with it as such..... I came off the wrong bike to move to anything else other than the likes of an S1000RR perhaps. Now have a 636 A1P (last of the carbs) which is faster and equal if not better range tbh. I got the Z1000SX in 2012 new and the 2013/2014 model I think it was came with a heap more toy options which made it look like a much better bike for the money. My main complaints on the Z1000SX was tank size and it's poor mpg. Side stand is a joke and anyone in their right mind had to buy an uprated spring for it or easily would fall over, or bounce and catch ground on the move.... Lacked some things I would expect of a modern bike like a gear indicator or rider OBC (neither really matter, but it was a 10K bike ffs). Power from the engine is nice and smooth with low down torque carrying right the way through in all gears, making it perhaps boringly easy to ride as it didn't really matter what gear you were in. Did have plenty of go in it, but wouldn't be much in it for the feel of your bike going up through the gears. Could be quite fun and squirmy with the fairly short wheel base, front wheel just looking to float a little powering out of twisties. But with the raised bars etc, never going to feel anywhere near how a supersport feels. I liked and didn't want to change the fan cans on it (Zed should have them and nothing else IMO), but they sound utterly crap :(

From just above

I am like a broken record on the Z1000SX topic on this thread since the day I got it my views haven't changed much. I ordered it and first time I even so much as sat on one was after I had paid and I was leaving the dealers..... Test ride would have made no difference to me getting one as I saw it, I liked it and that was enough (in a bike shop, I am like a kid on the set of 'Fun House'). On paper it was perfect for my needs. ZZR1400 was running at 220.5bhp and there was no way I wanted to 'enjoy' it after moving back to the UK where points don't mean prizes, trading in against a new one was my only way to shift it as I would have had to register it back in the UK and would need an MOT to do that and a Polish trucker on the Autobahn pulled out on me without indication or warning and I warped both front discs (£900) plus due a big boy service and as was proved on riding it from Holland to Peterbrough to trade in 2 new tyres (by over   ) Would have been spending a fortune just to get it re-registered back in UK again only to sell it prob for £1000 ish in my pocket after costs. Trading it in I got to the penny what I paid for it, was going to be a bit more, but they noticed the brakes and tyres.......  :peek: Selling the Z1000SX wasn't a plan but with a extension put on my contract after I had already ridden it back to NI and flown back for the car days before I was set to move, it was in temp storage in someones way and I just webuyanybike'd it. Still left me better off than bringing the ZZR back and MOT+selling it. But left me as a cager for a bit  :x

The A1P was a 'I can't take it any more' day last summer when I went on gumtree in the morning and decided no matter what I will have a bike this day and I did (just after midnight I think it was home, with nowhere to put it). It was the best of a bad bunch with little selection in NI and was at other end of country (he had a V8 Range Rover and a trailer :D ) I wasn't overly thrilled, but I know the A1P well from a mate who had the same bike and I just went with it, but now I am really enjoying it and likely will hold on to it as a hack when I get something else :D
