Seriously looking at a second bike for when I am out on my own.  Not in a rush and happy to wait until the weather turns and loads of people decide biking is not for them because it is cold and wet and then I can pounce!

I want something a bit different to the Tiger though.  Have been looking at Kawasaki ZR6 and 9 thanks to Fubar posting pictures of his!  Also the v twin thing appeals as well.  I want something a 'bit' sporty but not nuts.

I am sure you already know of these two? Colin is a legend in Scunthorpe, I'd buy a used bike off him any day! Worth keeping an eye out in there and could see if he knows of anything going in line with what your after. Then on up the road Rob Speed in Grimsby (where I traded the ZZR600 E7 in against the GSXR 1000. Some stock held in that place.

The websites are useless for viewing used stock, would require a visit.

Stop it!!!!!!

I have had a look at Robspeed as it is just up the road from me but haven't looked at Scunny.  To be honest these days I couldn't name a bike dealer there.  I think the last one I went to was Phoenix after it rose from the ashes and that would be in the 80's I think.  Worth a ride out though.  Cheers.

I think the RobSpeed guy and Colin are relatives

As I say I am in no rush.  I think if I go into a dealers mid December/January time they will bite my hand off for a deal.  Same for a private sale I would imagine.  I have had my eye on this one for a while and it looks quite good.  They won't be selling many bikes now anyway so a deal might be had.  Not too far up the road either.

WOW at price! Mine was bought last year peak season in June with half the miles for less with delivery negotiated in :D I should sell mine in GB I think hahahah

Or I should buy in N.I. :D   When are you changing?

NI is a doubled edged sword, prices tend to be cheaper in GB as there are 1000 times more bikes for sale.

Not in this case though by the sound of it.

There are tons of cheaper lower mileage ones in GB than the one you linked above :P But if playing the long game ZX9R is where I'd be keeping eye out mainly. ZZR1200 is still on my list, but a nice 2001+ ZX9R I would snap up as a 636 replacement!

Yes there are a lot on fleabay that I am watching.  The ZX9R is not as common and they are usually too old so don't have the twin headlight.  As I say I think come the off season there will be some deals to be made.  Dealers don't like having cash tied up for months if it can be avoided.

Only problem is like an Octavia VRS has to be Race Blue a Kawasaki has to be green.  I have to admit yours does look different and far better than the red or blue.

Grey went dead on IMO coolest thing was the bike still had more bhp than the remapped vRS   :D

One last pic of the 636 from back in April when I actually got to ride it when I wanted!

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! Take your helmet off the seat!  One of my pet hates and I have seen a helmet fall so often from there and then we will wear it to protect our heads.  Oh have done it and yes it has fallen.

So you like Kwackers then!

Lid doesn't fall unless you don't know how to place it properly :p Camera is epic at creating good balance on seat. Even on the EuroTunnel no problems :P

Been looking at one of them when I was considering buying a second bike to go with the Tiger.  Have you had it long?  Any problems with the cam chain tensioner?

Only about 2 months, yes been done

Nice! Lovely bikes.

Thanks, I had a Millie R about 2 years ago but was to sore (much the same as an sp1/2), I wasn't going to go back to a v twin but couldn't pass on the price and condition. It's 18 yrs old but wouldn't think it and 2 owners....torquey bugger like a 12 bandit but nicer sound :)

Started at age 10 on a BSA Bantam on local waste ground, which makes me feel very old and in danger of reading a bit like the Monty Python Four Yorkshire-men sketch ("it were only a stick and two pram wheels but it were a motorbike to us" kind of thing).

First road bike was a very beaten-up Yamaha FS1-E.

Then a Suzuki TS125 until it got stolen and I couldn't afford to replace it as I was heading off to college, so no bikes for a while.

Then marriage, family... fast-forward to when the kids (3 boys) were coming up to 10-ish. Got a trials bike for me and for them - Yamaha TY-250 and TY-80 to get them going off road where it's safer to learn the basics (and for me to get some experience back).

I bought a W-reg Honda CBR600-F (not the RR) in 2002 and I'm still running it pretty happily.

Sometimes I think of getting something a little more comfortable but it still does everything I ask of it and damned if I haven't got a bit attached to it over the years!

I must be getting old because the new Harleys are actually starting to look tempting!

I have had my eye on this one for a while and it looks quite good.  They won't be selling many bikes now anyway so a deal might be had.

I'm surprised they sell any, if they price them all like that, lol. Two grand for a scruffy ZX6R with 42k miles and a broken fairing? Are they on drugs?

That is one of the cheaper ones.  Many of then have done Galactic mileage and finding a 2002 under 2k is almost impossible unless you know different.  Ultimately that is an asking price and does anyone actually pay asking price?  I certainly don't and just take it as a starter.

Incidentally where is the fairing broke?  Never noticed and just looked again and still can't see it.

So has that one, and been dropped, and in rough condition. It'd make an ok hack or track bike project, but it would need to be a lot cheaper than that.

Yes I was including that one as massive mileage.  To be honest your eyes may well be better than mine but it doesn't look that rough to me but seeing in the flesh is the only way and I would never buy unseen..I am genuinely curious though as to what you are seeing that is rough or where the fairing is broken.  I must stress here just in case you think I am being funny I truly cannot see what you are saying but that doesn't mean to say I think you are wrong.

Pretty handy replaced off ebay in green schemes, but I still think price is high by a grand odd. If service inc valve clearances done checks out, maybe £1400 at a push in my mind as an asking price if it's a trader with some warranty backup. My bike is rough the wee tool who owned it for a matter of weeks before he filled his trousers put it down on the side you never see pics of (similar wee scuffs X2 but no cracking drive way job as the drop kerb was too tricky it seems.  :D

That is the first time I have seen that picture so shows I haven't been looking that hard.  So thanks for that Guys!

Having said that they are still keeping their money and it is a dealer who will be chancing his arm that someone will pay the asking price.  If you look at them on fleabay and Autotrader you will see nothing cheap and another good reason to buy in a few months time.

I am genuinely curious though as to what you are seeing that is rough or where the fairing is broken.

Rust on the shock, rear caliper and disc, front left brake banjo and chain, scruffy, scratched (and shortened) exhaust can (reflections on it suggest a bit of dent too, possibly), scuffed top yoke, scuffed swingarm etc. The fairing is broken and scuffed around the right side main mount - it's had a low speed drop. It just looks pretty scruffy generally, and given that used bikes/cars always look better in pics than in the flesh it probably looks worse in person - I've given up looking for a replacement car for now, cos I'm bored of going to view cars that look tidy in pics, but **** in reality. The dealer probably paid a grand for it.
