Have been told by work this week I have to go on a 2 week training course at "Head Office" in July, will only need my laptop and clothes for the 2 weeks, so here's the question...

Do I sit back and let work organise the flights etc, then park the car at Heathrow (or somewhere similar) for 2 weeks?

Do I "negotiate" with work and take the Xtra, getting work to pay for fuel?

Did I mention, "Head Office" is in Pesaro, Italy. So would have to leave on Sat morning and ride 1250ish miles in 2 days, then same on the way back devil.gif

Route would be through the tunnel, then through France & Switzerland and into Italy.

Would be good to take the Xtra back to it's roots...

Would be epic to get the bike down there! Italians are a bit...... mental on the roads though so I would make sure your insurance doesn't drop to 3rd party only when outside the UK. Would using auto rail be an option for you? You could pop over on tunnel ride 2.5 odd hours to Holland and get on train with bike down to Italy.

Not thought of that, have done the ferry to Santander in the past and that was good, expensive, but good, and after a quick look, the trains are looking the same, working out about double the cost of the fuel, and the times are not really suitable. Was worth a look though, thanks. Have done quite a bit of driving down there, so am used to their style of driving.

Thing is, when I had my 'busa, i don't recall ever thinking "what this thing needs is more power"

You can never have enough power lol :-D

I just dont see why anyone would want that though. Especially for £12k haha.

How are you finding the gearbox?

My dads got a 2012 GS adventure. He took the new water cooled one out for a spin and said the engine is fantastic, but the gearbox is hell crunches terribly.

Told them he'd never upgrade until they sorted that.

Is yours okay? How dya find it?

Gearbox is fine on mine, but mine is a 2014 bike with a few differences to the 2013 WC models, I've not noticed the gearbox being any worse than my twin cam, I've got the optional gear assist pro on mine as well (quick shifter) which is a lot of fun  :) I let the early adopters beta test the WC first before taking the plunge.

Ooo i see. Maybe theyve sorted it then? Thats good news :).

I imagine he'll be tempted for another test ride.

I wish i could take his adventure out for a spin, but i cant reach the floor haha. Recipe for disaster on a heavy £15k or so bike hahs.

Track day looming on the 30th June so thought I'd give the bike a good once over, chain tension, brake fluid, clutch fluid good clean and a general check over and some high class bike porn for you good gentlemen

This thread is killing me now :( DAMN you all!

I've been busy fettling away.

Mrs Grr bought me a tank pad that wasthe same as this this.

3d-rubber-monster-motorcycle-gas-tank-pa

It was rubbish and came away from its own backing overnight.

So off it came again and I very nearly spent £25 on an official Kawasaki one

which was translucent so showed as the colour of the paint with the ER6f logo on it.

Then I saw this on good old ebay and for 6 quid and thought I'd give it a try.

and after fitting

A couple of days ago I got busy giving the bike its first detail then busted out the rim tape.

Rim tape rules nice little touch on most bikes

I made the big mistake of going to the dealer I got my bike from, and saw this

wj62cnf-2%5E640x480%5E.jpg

Needless to say I'm torn, this was the bike I really wanted but couldn't wait :wall:

I wonder if the wife would notice??

Not sure if this is against forum rules or not tbf, but im sure somebody will tell me if it is.

Iv decided to sell my SV650s and start looking for a vfr800 pre vtec.

Someone buy it please ;).

Where abouts in Derbyshire are you?

Dying to get a new bike but blown my budget so having a rethink on what I might like. Not been a fan of the 650 TBH but a solid bike is first on my list of priorities and im not overly bothered what I get ATM, just want to get back on the road.

You are a FREEDOM member so you can sell things via the forum as part of the membership, no drams!   Could also post in the for sale section too, just in case anyone hasn't found this thread yet. Been looking at a VFR800 myself, a vtec one though......... :(

Bloody hell, here I go again spending money I really shouldn't

Just put a bid in for a 2011 Z750R - Which I wont win as it will go above my max bid

But also seen a 2008 ZXR600 P8F - Love the look of this bike but with my bad back it's not a wise choice

At the same price there's also a 2007 Z750R with some extras

Both within 20 miles of me and both I would be happy with...... I think. The reason why I say I think is i've never riden the 2008 zxr600 or the 2007 Z750R.

Question is do I try and arrange a test ride/viewing even though there ebay listings and the sellers say no test rides etc etc.

And im mega busy at work as ive just been on holiday.

Im in Buxton mate.

Have you ridden the 650 vtwin before?

Its surprisingly good. Plenty of midrange torque.

If they definitely will not do a test ride in any way shape or form (I wouldn't unless a realistic price I was looking for was in my hand to hold and the person was insured etc) I would go along the lines of on the day of collection it having to be 100% as described and you are more than free to walk away if it is not the case. In that light though I would be asking loads of detailed questions through ebay to get a record of answers and then try to at least see it hear it run ask owner to go up and down street (maybe a pillion ride :o

Never test rode mine. But then again it's still under warranty

and had only done 1100 miles from new. 135 mile ride home on it

gave me a good chance to get the feel of it though...

In other news, filled up tonight with Super unleaded and I have to say

its made quite a bit of difference to the smoothness and it definitely

picks up quicker. It's about a 75/25 mix at the moment but by next fill up

it should be more or less all super in there.

Whilst queuing to pay for my fuel i had time to ponder whos bloody bright

idea it was to combine supermarkets and petrol stations.

It's a shame the same fcking genius didn't allocate a till for fuel only payments.

Anyhoo, when I finally got to the front (in full lid, leathers and boots etc) she said to me

are you the £70 diesel? I said, 'No love, I'm on a motorbike and they don't really do

diesel ones of those. Besides the petrol tank would be 3 feet across to hold 70 quids worth'

I do wonder if there are any sort of intelligence tests to work in these places?

Or if you automatically qualify for a job so long as you aren't standing in a puddle

of your own drool. The mind boggles.

Come to think of it I have never test ridden a bike before paying lol My ZZR1200 (RIP) I saw advertised on Ebay from a dealer so called them up and did it as a trade sale on phone and trusted them, I then had some random stray with a lorry on his way to Italy drop it off for me in the middle of a dark almost snowed in Nov night in Holland :D Thinking of the filling station thing, I normally just because I can't be assed with the moaning remove my lid before I go in, but I have been shouted at on the tannoy while trying to fill my bike for not having it off...... That includes a Caberg I had that is a full face but front opens fully.

Diesel bikes........ read back through this thread, I am sure we have seen a few discussed :D Seem to be more and more popping up and a few production options out there.

www.suckindiesel.com is a great site for the self made sort and a bloody good road trip!

No Never ridden a SV650 as I don't like the styling :giggle:

I'm in Sheffield and ride out Buxton/Matlock way regulary (when on a ride out).

I've got a bad back and im tall (6ft 2) so fitting on my ZXR400 really is uncomfortable now. I need something a bit more sports tourer style.

I was looking for something a bit newer and I don't think I want a vTwin (tried an ER6f a couple of weeks ago and it didn't grab me) but as I said I will consider anything. If I see something that grabs my attention I will want a test ride obviously but if I like the ride I will be buying there and then.

Have you got any trips to Sheffield or Chesterfield coming up?

Each to there own :).

The er6 is a parallel twin isnt it? Completely different to a vtwin.

I often go for a ride to matlock bath. Might even go tonight actually.

The SV isnt a full on sporty position. Theres a lot more room than a modern sports bike. Iv sat on it for 200 mile days with not much problem.

Not about giving out random rides on my things though (im very particular as to how i look after things haha). If your genuinely interested id let you have a little spin, but id need the cash in my hand first.

Yes the er6 is a parallel twin.

I will see if I can get a test ride on one then get in contact. Haven never riden one ideally I want to see if im comfortable on it before I buy it. That's the difficulty when not buying from a dealer. CMC at Clay Cross might have one in but SMC doesn't have any Sv's.

Tonight is a perfect night for a ride out. Not too hot and dry without much chance of rain.
