Yes the er6 is a parallel twin.

I will see if I can get a test ride on one then get in contact. Haven never riden one ideally I want to see if im comfortable on it before I buy it. That's the difficulty when not buying from a dealer. CMC at Clay Cross might have one in but SMC doesn't have any Sv's.

Tonight is a perfect night for a ride out. Not too hot and dry without much chance of rain.

I popped into SMC yesterday to have a look around at helmets, I barely made it past the Ducati room without breaking into a cold sweat!

I'm due a visit to a helmet stockist at the weekend for the mrs to try

some on, time for her to get some better kit.

No probs :). Its difficult to get a proper idea of comfort without an extended test ride, which are a little tricky to come by unfortunately.

Yanno where i am if you want a look (:

Yeti finally taxed and on the road so...

I've parked it up, loaded toothbrush, credit card and spare pants onto the Tiger and put this in the sat nav...

Play nicely while I'm away :-)

There's nothing with your bike. We did a week away in the south of France and one of the lads had a Fazer 600, one of the old ones, the rest on bigger bikes. He was never left behind as we always made sure we all looked out for him.

It's the riding and adventure of the trip that matters not the bike.

I agree, for me it's about the ability to tie as much stuff as I need to the bike and be able to stay reasonably comfortable. Touring, I have no real care on general size or engine performance as that's more of a fair weather weekend warrior or track day thing.

The Z1000SX (ABS) Touring I bought new in 2012 was ok for touring ish, it had raised bars standard, seat was dead on, but the tank was tiny and mpg crap, so I spent a fortune stopping every 3 or 4 minutes to fill it up!

I used to run all over the UK and northern europe on my XT500, sometimes 2up, got friends who will happily tour on C90's, just pitch your holiday to suit you and your bike

Its not about the bike itself, its how comfortable you are on it, and how much kit you can strap to it.

You need to train your bum into touring mode. Much Saunders went around the world in an r1 a few times, and although they are fast bikes, they certainly arent designed for touring in mind

Well that's me just gone and done it.

Thats the supermoto gone to a new home tonight, feel sad as it's be the most fun wee bike ever.

Will start trawling the shops tomorrow lol

What you looking for to replace it?

Quite fancy a Hornet 900, am in no rush to buy so can take my time and find a tidy example.

I have seen a bike I like the look of a wee ER6-N :D 72bhp......... it's a 2012 (late registered 2010/11 model) 2027 miles, offered at a lower price for easy sell on a biker club I am a member of. £2950 Just been taxed and not needing first MOT until 2016! SO TEMPTED!

It would be the lowest powered bike since I did my test on a Honda CG which worries me slightly, but as I am gagging for a bike at the moment anything would do! Locally there are a few ER6-N's for sale all 2008/2009 and with 5 to 10 times the mileage for same price. It would be a safe enough wee investment too in that light! Plus if I don't get another bike in next couple of months I loose my UK NCD for insurance! Could tide me over nicely tie some bags to it and hit the road for a wee tour.

It has a couple of small marks on the tiny fairing panel where indicator is on each side but nothing else (easily sorted if I was bothered too much).

That's a great price Fubar. I may be buying anothe before much longer myself

if the Mrs goes through with her DAS

Take one for a ride. See what you think.

They will allegedly do 140ish on a straight enough road.

Mines seen a displayed 126 so far over on the runway at Bristol Airport. :notme:

You may find the unfaired version quite a nice ride as there's less to vibrate.

They are least refined at about 4k, and generally speaking quite a snatchy bike to ride

compared to a 4 pot. But certainly no powerhouse like some of the bikes you've had,

This is the thing, I always said the Z1000SX felt like a moped after the ZZR1400 :( But in that one I litrially rode in on the ZZR jumped off paid for the Z1000SX, had a burger from the van outside then rode it back to Holland from Peterborough (but nicely as it was new). Looking in more detail at this ER6N the price I would class as fair/good not amazing. The impression I get is that the guy bought it brand new and got a cracking deal as late registered, perhaps this was partly due to colour not being popular? The dealer it was from is one of biggest in the country. I am assuming it was his first big bike and he has set it on it's side (on both sides) while stationary with the tiny marks on fairing panels and generator cover has a small scuff in relation to this too. The bike has only 2027 miles and he has owned it for around a year (1 prev keeper). I have seen this bike pop up as a suggestion to someone thinking of a similar class bike in the club but no response to it. It would seem he doesn't ride it at all and it's kept in his big posh garage. one of the pics showed the chain to have a very light layer of surface rust on it also which shows how much it's been used (retarded thing to leave in an ad pic tbh).

My thoughs are the little marks on paintwork I can sort myself the generator cover I can make look 200 times better with a tiny dab of paint or just replace for £50 ish, give her a wee service then she is good to go. He is advertising it at £3200 but £2950 as a no nonsense take it or leave it price for any of us. Red flag to a bull tbh, I would still haggle to the death. Might let him stew and then come in with an offer.

Also I have been looking up the dimensions it's 770mm wide, my gate at side of house opens to max 730mm...... I could cut a section of my back fence out and make a gate from it to give more access, but would rather not as I plan to put a shed there at some point! I have an old corrugated iron shed/shack thing at side of house I was thinking I could just remove the front wall off and have it as a bike shed would be 100% dry in there for now.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH decisions decisions! If Santander were the sort of bank that allowed you to actually have your own money without needing to give 24 hours notice, I would be on my way up there tonight! Prob for the best that they do not!

FUBAR - DO IT!!!!!!

I'm in the same boat and all I can say is watch this space :p

As of last night I am the proud owner of a Z750R

Went for a quick blast to Matlock Bath and back last night and I love it. It was after 10pm by the time I got back so riding at night was a bit tricky, especially with suicidal sheep :D

Need to spend some time on it and get to know it but 1st impressions are its stiffer than I expected. About as comfortable as I expected but you really do miss having fairings once up to 70mph. Anything faster and I feel like im hanging ala superman style :peek: Love the sound and general riding position suits my slower riding style.

Couple of pictures at the petrol station on my 1st ride. And a picture of the 2 x bikes together (the other bike is a ZXR400SP)

LOL @ Mark.

Nice colour bike mate :)

Z1000 with fairing for me next.

But not for a bit, there's enough going on with the ER6F for me.

I've been working on reducing my throttle inputs to make things a little smoother.

Stomp Grip fitted now, off out for a ride later to test the difference.

I've given it the required 24 hours setting time. And the rains coming in tonight for

a couple of days so I may as well.

Cheers Gary.

I would be interested in a ride on a Z1000SX. The guy at the dealership told me I would like it and im sure I would. They are a bit pricy and ATM I cant justify spending £7-8k+ on something I wont be using that much. It hasn't exactly gone down well at home when I came back on a bike last night :x

I like something a bit leftfield and the Z750R suits my style. I enjoyed the 1st ride out last night and im looking forward to going out again. If I can get away with it I will get out for a blast tonight as well

It's a bit of an animal when you want it to be and I really like the look of it. Got a few extras included in the price too so overall im happy. Going to re-fit the leather tank bag cover tonight for a bit of protection and extra grip.

In case its of any interest to anyone ive just ordered this on Amazon as they have a cracking deal ATM: R & G Waterproof Bike Cover & Oxford Optimiser 900.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F6AH1N8/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1

I have a bike cover for my other bike and an optimiser 900 too so I wanted another cover and battery conditioner (fed up of buying a new battery every year). From shopping around and buying separate I cant get a better than this deal :sun:

I've seen a single seat cowl on ebay too but I'm absolutely skint now and cant spend any more money till next year

Sod it rains here!

Looks like I'll be tinkering tonight then instead.

20140626_213318.jpg

What a deal! 90 miles away and he had pics of trailer in ad saying could deliver anywhere for a small fee, so got £250 off asking price and delivery thrown in :D Tow car was a V8 RangeRover :o 14mpg

Point to note the headlight tinted cover things have been removed already as not to my taste.

Wahey, another bike. Nice one :)
