Another use of having a second bike is so SWMBO can come on her own wheels as she's now passed her licence. She's ridden the SV650S although the clip-ons make it tiring for her town commute, and I guess the er-6f is a more comfortable riding position and possible more manoeuverable?

You can get a comfort kit for the svs mate. It raises the bars up so its not as wrist heavy. However new, longer brake lines are required amongst a few other bits and bobs.

Im gonna put my 01 sv650s up for sale in the next few weeks. I fancy a vfr 800 next. Bit more comfort, more power, plenty low down torque etc etc. then i think I'll stop riding with my mates that like to blast over the same local roads and get myself riding further more often. Iv done a few nice trips around wales on the sv but i usually end up going on my own, or being forced to stop too often by whoever I'm riding with.

Who knows, i might even tag along with my dad on his trips around Europe.

Why am i so boring? ;). I drive a fabia, and now is rather your than blast around haha.

Anyway. Im rambling ;) haha

Ahhhhh VFR800. I had one of those as a hire bike whilst my SV was being repaired (had been rear-ended when I stopped at some lights and the chap behind me didn't!). Funnily enough, I had a Honda Hornet at first, but it broke down 3 times on a single attempt at commuting to work. The insurance and rental guys were a bit stuck and said "we don't have any other bike available in your category". I then said "well, considering I need a bike for my commute, what do you have in your other categories?" and they reluctantly lended me a VFR800 for a couple of weeks. What fun! :D That VTEC engine is a peach and really screams. A great sports tourer bike. In fact, you've got me thinking about getting one of those - SWMBO can have my SV once it's back in tip top condition :P

You liked it then mate?

Iv been looking at the vfr800fi. Ideally 2001 model year. Pre vtec.

The early Vtecs were quite abrupt at the 7k changeover apparently, and im not 100% sure on the looks tbh.

I like the original VFR750s from back in the day.

Apparently the vtec kick is a lot less obvious on the later

VFR800s so the reviews say.

I like the vfr750's too tbh :).

Iv heard that too mate, but i cant afford to throw too much money at a bike atm.

I think blagging a test ride is in order tbh. Who knows. I might like an abrupt vtec switchover. Aslong as it doesnt happen mid-corner....

I love the look of the 2014 vfr. I might just have to get saving for that. I'll need something in the mean time though

I've only ridden the 800, and despite there's a clear difference in power, I found the sound to change more profoundly than the power delivery. From my ears and butt memory, it's like 40% more sound, 15% more torque.

Edit: regarding the mid corner comment, the changeover is far less noticable if you're not on full power. The sound changes, but the power doesn't. It's only when you open it wide that it's really noticable

Iv been in cars that are vtec, so i presume its sort of similar to that?

Hmm maybe the more sound makes it feel faster though?

Z1000 will be my next bike Fubar, I effing love them.

Would have bought one of those straight away but thought I should

start out with something more sensible. :(

This will do for now. I'm delighted with the price.

I was looking at 58, 09, 59, for about the 3700 mark so to get

one 3 years newer for a couple of hundred quid more WITH the boxes

I was gonna buy anyway (Have you seen how much they are :o ) was

quite a result. They revised the entire bike in 2012 so I have the latest

version for pre facelift money. It's quite a long way to go get it but I can suffer

that. I have a busy week doing the last few changes to my house so I can

put it away in my shed. Been concreting all day today. I'm knackered.

What a deal that is.

This weekend i've just finished my new shed and moving as much stuff as possible out of the garage in preparation for a new bike.

I have a ZXR400 SP which is just too uncomfortable for me to ride these days.

With purchase cost and running costs V amount of time I will get to ride it I've come up with a plan to get a ER6N. I'm hoping to find one locally for a test ride ASAP. I'm looking for exactly the same year for the same reasons. A 2012 model with the analogue rev counter. I wanted to spend £3.5 max but if a go to £4k I should be able to find a decent 2012 model.

Having just seen the deal you got I might consider a ER6F.

Honestly cant believe the deal you have got there. If your travelling back through Sheffield get in touch and call in for a cuppa.

Thanks Mark, Sheffields not really on route, Stoke on Trent to Bristol. M6/M5.

I wanted analogue rev counter too LOL We are such children.

I was doing some research last night and I reckon it came from a place in Stoke called

DK motorcycles which is a Kawasaki main agent.

Here's one of the others I was considering, also a 2013 ER6F but a bit too far from home

but it has had the can changed. It's a bit closer to you though. The seller was ever so friendly

but I was waiting on the outcome of the auction before I commited to this one.  Great price!!!!

Although they do deliver  (Wanted 80 quid to deliver to Bristol)

I know it's no where near me but if you are anything like me I end up in random places from time to time and the offer of a cuppa/pit stop stands anytime.

If you don't like it let me know and I might buy it

I haven't even ridden an ER6 yet but I'm pretty sure its what I want. Oh and I would prefer one in Green too (has to be Green if its a kwak). I will also buy a black one but not too sure about white and defo not yellow

Thanks for the link. Not a bad price and it has heated grips too (not that ive ever been bothered about heated grips lol)

Think I will have to go for a look around at the weekend.....................I can be quite impulsive so watch this space

That sounds exactly like what I've been saying to my wife, I would have gone black too

but it's a colour I'm trying to break away from. Last two cars have been black and the

'fun' you have to have to keep them clean is wearing thin after 6 years of non stop car

washing.

Back in the late 80's early 90's I always loved the Kwackas of the time and with the exception

of the CBR600 (which I always lusted after) they were my pin up bikes.

I love what Kawasaki are doing with their designs still and although I like the neon

Kawaski green of old I do prefer the newer metallic green they are using now and I

love the contrasting satin black. And IMO the ER6f is a handsome bike already so

a good colour scheme just makes thiings better.

Iv been there many times. Its not a bad shop, pretty decent size. Tends to be a little pricey too though i always think.

I get the feeling the guy who bought my bike to be originally didn't

worry too much about price. He also has a 13plate Audi on the drive

and one of the 2012 olympics official mini coopers (also being sold)

Bad news for me, the guy selling is away until next Thursday in the canary

islands so I've yet another week until I get my hands on it :(  But I still have things

to do before it gets here so that's okay. I'll get the Mrs to book a day off and

run me there next week. I only passed my test a month ago so it's taken a little

while to find the right bike. I nearly pulled the trigger on a couple but was foiled

by poor sales staff and a stupid 'no test ride' policy of a lot of places.

Oh well their loss my gain, none of the ones in shops that I nearly bought were newer

than 59 plate and there wasn't a whole lot of difference price wise than what this one cost.

When I finally started doing some research RE insuring it I was gobsmacked at

how cheap it was. I was expecting 500 quid upwards tbh so to get my insurance

sorted for under £130 Full comp with Swinton meant I could push a little more cash

into the bike that was earmarked for insurance. Nice one. :)

Nicked from another forum, wouldn't like to know this muppet!

If he did that to me he'd have more than the cycle round his back, I'd stick it up his jacksy!

Urgh. There was no need to hit the cyclist there. Should of left him loads more room.
