Load signal wire repaired by my brother Chris. Also found some other wiring for the air conditioning which was ruined. Looked like a mouse had been at it.

Where was the ruined aircon wiring mate? Worth checking mine out as my aircon has worked for years and trying to avoid sending her to a specialist if I can help it.....

The main wiring from the compressor, it was damaged in several places.

still need to get it gassed though

My legend of a brother did some work for me.

replaced the broken connector to the MAF sensor

where it was broken it made it really loose.

also replaced the in-tank fuel pump. When first turning the key it didn’t sound like it was priming properly

old one looking a little worse for wear

No no pics of the new one, but seems immediately better.

Not updated this for a long time!

so it’s been on the road for a year now as an estate! Recently had the Aircon regassed and it’s just passed its MOT.

it did fail on the rear tyre being out of shape, but quickly got that sorted.

Not much else has been done really as we’ve been planning for our wedding. Might change the colour of the wheels though

What colour wheels you fancy this time?

Probably gun metal or hyper silver. Going to try one of the plasti dip style wheel kits like this one.

i know it won’t be as good as a proper refurb, but it’s not really worth it on this car.

After getting married on the 6th July my wife and I went to Isle of Wight for a few days.

some of the roads are lovely to drive on. In other news my air con has a leak. So it was rather hot. It was nice for the month I had it though :DD813BAAC-A55F-4303-9549-156B7F467EDF.thumb.jpeg.4732bec0b332e5ac8b0fe2abb1f7b9e8.jpeg

i have a couple of abs sensors kicking around, so will try to replace it and check the wiring.

interestingly mpg has taken a big hit too.

the trip has been showing 25mpg average and only got 40mpg from this tank of fuel

I'm digging the headlights you fitted to this!

I had the same and error on my Ibiza, if the sensors don't sort it the wheel bearings might have shifted in the hub and need reseating.

Thanks, still got the new sensor to fit, so hopefully sorts it. The previous one I bought was the wrong one size and the old one came out in pieces.

replaced the plug as the plastic housing was broken. Also replaced the plug for the map sensor as one of the wires had snapped inside the connector.

Only to find a hole in one of my alloy intercooler pipes!

also noticed some spatters of cv grease on the inside of the wheel, so need to replace the boot!

I seem to go through CV boots for fun. Found a hole in one on each of the last three pre-MOT inspections I carried out. No drama as it only takes me about 20 mins in work to change one, but a PITA none the less.

Probably down to the cheap universal boots we use.

Currently have a small hole in my drivers side boot, so gonna get a one  from TPS and do it properly this time.

25mpg is terrible for one of these. Any thoughts on what’s caused such a drop?

I shouldn’t really complain as it’s the original cv joint, that’s covered 190k miles.

turns out the mpg was related to the dodgy abs/ wheel speed sensor. It was only registering half the distance I was driving.

That is good going!

Interesting about the abs / speed sensor being the issue. Kinda obvious when I think about it (assuming you were still getting the same number of miles out of the tank)

Yeah, only became obvious after filling up and resetting the trip. My 18 mile drive to work only registered as 9
