Thermostat, bad mpg and engine light

Featured Replies

Hi.. new to this so bare with me.

Ive had my skoda fabia 1.4 since april. A week after having it the radiator needed replacing.. After this the temperature gage was fine but engine light kept coming on and going off again randomly which the mechanic told me was something to do with a temperature fault.

Anyway, the temp gage is now randomly staying at the bottom, although it does sometimes go up to the middle. The car has terrible MPG, I dont know how to work out what it is but i seem to be putting fuel in ALL the time when im hardly every driving it. I originally just thought the temp gage can be the cause of a bad mpg??? I dont know how all this stuff works but is this true????

Also, when i get in the car, the front windscreen is completely condensated on the inside, EVERY TIME.

Someone help me pleeeease!

The 1st thing to do is change the water temperature sender. This not only works the temperature gauge but also sends temperature info to the ecu which affects fuelling. Check the bottom of the door cards for wet and then look for the numerous posts on here for the fix.
