ITG Maxogen

Can anyone give me a reasonable guide on what I should be looking to pay for one and where to get one? Only managed to find it on Awesome GTI for £300 and as it's the only place I can actually find it I've nothing to compare to. Help would be much appreciated!

Any APR dealer should be able sell them as well. They atent cheap.

IMO they are now a rip off. They were cheaper before. But there isn't much else on the market better. Maybe someone could persuade forge or simota etc to develop a better alternative for less.

I just sold one for £145

Look out on eBay ;-)

None on fleabay at the moment. 300 big ones does seem excessive for an induction kit, but like you say there isn't a lot else out there from what I'm told. Are there any other reasonable alternatives out there at the moment? Can't really be waiting around for a company to decide whether they do or don't want to come up with something!

got the original full carbon one for 100 on evil bay.

^^^^^^^

Jammy Bar-steward!

Give you £120 for it ;)

Bmc cda, can pick one up for <£100 on the bay. Get a 70-130 one that will fit straight onto the fab inlet ;-)

The BMC one is identical to the forge one isnt it? looks like an identical filter and canister to me, obviously minus a forge plaque and many of us have already found the forge to be rubbish.

From what I remember having one of these a while back, it's a lot longer than the forge one. If you get the next size up its much bigger than the forge one and more like the itg size

Plus the forge one has a identical inlet and outlet doesn't it? The itg has a 70mm outlet and a 130mm inlet

i paid 300 for mine a few weeks ago. I feel its worth it, i agree £300 is a lot but i can notice the difference and it is a well made quality item unlike some of the other intakes available.

I always think it is worth paying a little extra for a good item rather than skimping and doing it twice

I agree, its buy nice or pay twice. As i have done not only with the intake but also the remaps. I do think it should be maybe £50 or so cheaper

Iv got a bmc intake on mine and it dwarfs the itg, il try and find a picture of it if i can

Cost me 60quid off a member on here:)

pics and dimensions of the filter and canister please :) .

The forge filter was tiny compared to the outer carbon canister.

cheers buddy

Something i considered was what testing and proving do the likes of K&N, BMC, Forge etc etc carry out on their filter materials. Do they just buy a generic filter from another supplier, do they just make a filter larger because "thats all that matters", do they just sell to the mod scenes, or do the motorsport arenas rate them as well.

ITG supply their foam filters to all the major motorsport scenes including F1, F3, BTCC, etc etc. I had a tour around their workshop and the amount of specialist motorsport work they are conducting is immense. If the F1 teams etc rate ITG then they must be doing something right. Wander what top level motorsport teams use forge and K&N lol.

ITG only started going into mainstream tuning scene a few years back after previously concentrating on motorsport, but they do huge amounts of R&D work with REVO and VWRacing for the development of their VAG range of intakes to make sure they are the top contenders.

Im just glad i only paid £80 for the Forge intake lol

K&N just seem to have a selection of filters and change the fitment to suit every new car that appears on the market, with little to none performance R&D

Before i was offered the BMC i was planning to use a universel green cotton filter rated to 400bhp an fabricate an aluminium canister for it, purly because green cotton seem to be big in the motorsport industry

I think K&N are worth the money to be honest. Most of there filters are direct replacements, but once you factor in buying new paper filters every year against the cost of the washable K&N's they're well worth it. Not to mention on lots of cars they do make a bit of a difference. Especially once you start playing about more.

I think the same for pipercross. They get used in loads of small motorsport series like autocross etc so I rate there stuff pretty well. Good for a generic filter/induction kit. I made a 5bhp increase with the Viper induction kit on the vrs over the standard intake with the TMC box. Can't argue with that for what I paid and considering its just an off the shelf induction kit.

If K&N had a specific typhoon kit or what have you I'd probably have gone with that and of been happy. I was actually pretty happy with the pipercross induction, but I seen the ITG for so little and couldn't say no.

I've been having trouble locating anywhere that I can just buy them online (by that I mean any induction kit for the vrs, not just ITG), most websites seem to be lacking on the technological online sales front. Which is kind of worrying for people I'm supposed to trust with a computer with 4 wheels! :giggle:

Seriously though, appreciate the help guys, and if anyone happens across any links to some useful sites that are reasonably priced feel free to let me know!

That was the one I'd found hence the post looking for cheaper options, doesn't seem to be much out there to compete with awesome at the moment

Stu just been reading through your thread on the BMC, you obviously like it! Which Octy did it come off, the 1.8T or the 2.0TFSI? Just having a look on the BMC website at the moment. Did you ever get it onto a RR?

VWR and APR have the monopoly on the ITG intakes, so you wont find it in many other places unless they are dealing with APR.
