ITG Maxogen

Featured Replies

Stu just been reading through your thread on the BMC, you obviously like it! Which Octy did it come off, the 1.8T or the 2.0TFSI? Just having a look on the BMC website at the moment. Did you ever get it onto a RR?

It came of a 2.0 tdi sport, it was the biggest universel filter they sell. Not had it RR as the two RR places near me aint great....one made a complete mess of running my car and the power dropped after 5k rpm and the rollers at the other place are about 20bhp out

Sounds like some standard reliable rolling roads to me :wall: be interesting to see how it got on though if you ever do get it to a worthwhile one.

Is it a straight forward fit or a bit of a fiddle, I'm not all that dextrous when it comes to things like that!

Its really pretty easy todo, remove standered intake and air box- slide new filter onto the pipethat joins the airbox to the engine and clamp it, slide piping onto the other end of filter clamp it and secure in place

Sounds pretty straight forward but then you've never seen me trying to do something like that! I'll look into that one as an option, cheers

It seems like most websites haven't quite caught up with the times and still think that the current vrs is a sooty lump :( and there don't seem to be any Christmas sales either, very disappointing.

I did a guide to fitting the maxogen kit, will be similar to other kits

Found a slightly cheaper price however there is a new dilemma...and initially it may sound stupid but bear with me.

The Fabia ITG sits behind the headlight unit, I still don't understand this and it just doesn't look right?!

The Polo GTI unit has a more conventional layout (and is cheaper again) and I have seen someone had fitted it to a Fabia on here somewhere I just can't remember where. I believe that involved a smaller braille battery as well. Anyone know if the battery change is a must for the Polo unit? Seems daft to fork out an extra £50 for a 'Fabia' one when it's pretty much identical with the exception of the grille intake?

Any thoughts or pointers?

^^^ thats me. You can see it in my build thread. The Polo one will not fit with the stock battery in place. The gap is too small for the filter.

After looking at the air intake position for the fabia version behind the battery/headlight, i just couldnt fathom where the flow was coming from, hence why I bought the braile battery Polo intake.

I knew I'd seen it somewhere! I seem to remember reading that the braille was a bit of a fiddle and involved velcro?

I can't figure it out either, it just doesn't seem rational, and I have no intention of paying £300 for an induction kit with no airflow :giggle:

How do you find the braille for holding charge?

If you use your car at least once a week you will be OK. Mine goes upto 7 days without getting used regularly and its normally got enough juice to start up. There are larger battery options from Braille and tomika you can try which will hold power for longer. For me its not an issue, if im not going to use the car for over a week, i disconnect the battery.

If you have a driveway you can trickle charge the battery with a CTEK charger http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,34376.0.html

Im using heavy duty velcro from Halfords to secure the battery and no exaggeration, it is is in there solid. Its so hard to remove and take back out it begs belief.
