Picked the Monte up this afternoon and it has been fitted with 4 new Pirelli tyres and had an alignment and it drives strait as a die! I have had a loan car for the 16 days it has been in the dealers

  • There are some inescapable truths that people should be aware of: Our roads generally have a camber that leans to the left. A car prone to tramlining will follow this camber. wide wheels on a sma

Well I've contacted skoda cz from a link here to their Facebook page and they have contacted us with wanting all our details and they will look into it so here hoping

The VRS is actually really cheap to insure at a young age! I can get it at £1600 and I'm 17

That is cheap!

It does seem a cheap car to insure - I'm getting sub-£200 renewal quotes and I live in Glasgow - not garaged!

I was paying over £330 for my MKI vRS (that's some difference even allowing for me now being a few years older and pricing fluctuations).

My clio 1.2 is more expensive and I've got 3 points

As for the pulling to the left I have a few posts on here about the problem. I went through the whole saga with Skoda with my VRS and eventualy ended up with I think 4 wheel allignments with one being carried out by Audi, then I got 4 new Pirelli P-Zero fitted. The pull was reduced at town speeds but not much different at motorway speeds ie. I have to keep pressure on the steering wheel to stay in a straight line. I put this down to big wheels, low profile tyres and the camber of the road,I have learnt to put up with it as there is nothing more Skoda are going to do about it.

Recently spent 2 weeks on holiday to the Moto GP in Silverstone and then into France and  around the Somme area. The whole way to silverstone the car had its usual left pull, but low and behold once I got of the boat in France and drove on the right the car could be driven at 70-80 mph with no hands on the wheel, with the camber running to the right the car drove as straight as a die hmmmm interesting no pull whatsoever

Found the same when we took the Monte to Europe on it's original Dunlop's; much happier on a right camber than a left.

  • 1 year later...

Mine drives bolt straight

63plate with original dunlops on 7k miles

Mine drives bolt straight......

Mine too, 13 plate 105PS diesel Monte (30k miles) on Continental Sport contact 5.

More importantly, it stops dead straight under emergency braking.

I still don't get the fact that that some of the 'pulling' cars allegedly drive ok on the continent. Using that theory all the right hand drive cars I've driven in Germany, France, Belgium, Spain and Holland over the last 31 years should have all pulled to the right due to road camber, but the truth of the matter is, they didn't. Strange that.
