Does Columbus mean I have to sep back to the dark side?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Superb L&K estate (MY2012). I also have an Apple Max only household having turned my back on the dark side (Windows) sometime ago.

I am happy to report that the MDI works fine with an iPhone 5 (but you need an adapter), but am less chuffed with the fact that the onboard hard drive can't rip audio CDs. Even more annoying is that it doesn't seem to recognise the iTunes file format.

Is the quickest solution to export some of my itunes library to MP3 and then copy to an SD card and then copy this to the hard drive?

Thanks

Step even (sheesh!)

Yes, the iTunes - .mp3 is the way to go.

Interesting - I've always seen it the other way round. Always thought of Apple as 'The Dark Side', Certainly reckon Bill Gates has done a lot more to help humanity with his money than Steve Jobs ever did.

And when it comes to hardware, I reckon for the cost of one MacBook, you could buy two comparable Windows laptops and give one away to charity.

But I better desist - don't want to start a flame-war, as so easily seems to happen when Windows v. Apple gets raised.

(please note, I'm not totally anti-Apple. I have an iPad.)

The debate seems to be more Apple v Android these days!

I do have iPods, but my phone is Windows.

Makes sense to me, but why bother to copy your mp3 files to the hard drive?

The drive in my car has only about 18 gb of free space, so I've just copied my music onto 32 gb SD cards & slot them into the unit when required.

I've also got plenty of spare blank DVD-R discs around so I've copied some themed music onto the DVD's so that I can keep all my Clapton / Dire Straits/ etc onto one disc per artist rather than hunt around the hard drive or SD card whilst driving.

Just to be different, it's nice to be able to listen to DVD concert DVD's whilst driving.............

I've started listening to my comedy DVDs in the car. Amazing how well you can visualise the episodes of father ted and Alan partridge, just by listening to them.

Just in case you don't know, iTunes can convert its files into mp3 format (for use in the Columbus) without the need to install additional softwear. It does it in less than a second per track. Apologies if you already knew this.
