53 fabia vRS grinding noise, need help!

Featured Replies

Hi there, firstly this is my first post so appologies if i have made any mistakes or posted this in the wrong place or anything like that!

Recently i have been having a bit of trouble with my 53 plate fabia vRS, when you let off the gas and stay in gear (mainly in first and second, third does it a bit but 4,5,6 seem fine) it makes an awfull grinding noise that sounds about as healthy as a deep fried mars bar, it also makes the same noise when driving in reverse. Interestingly when driving in reverse slipping the clutch, the noise seems to get faster as you rev the engine higher while keeping the cars speed constant, which makes me think the problem is between the gearbox and the engine, but im not very savy with cars so i'm most probably wrong! I thaught it may be engine mounts or gearbox mounts? One thing i have just remembered to add is that changing the gears feels alot worse than when i baught the car, it almost feels like the gear stick is pushing against a wall and it sometimes takes a bit of force and doesnt feel right.

I know this is a lot of information and probably not that well described either, so any help big or small will be greatly appreciated!

cheers,

Rob

is there a vibration in the clutch peddle or rattle like its in the gearbox when parked just ticking over?

could be your dual mass flywheel. i could be wrong though
